I’m currently a member at this health club and I gotta say the people there, the staff, are very friendly. I decided to get a trainer just because it’s been so long since the last time I set foot in a gym, and to my good fortune I ran into Ernie, he’s extremely professional and listens to my concerns regarding each workout (I have a bad back) he’s very helpful and he makes me feel like I can actually do it! I doubt myself but he pushes me to be my personal best. I’m very happy with him as my personal trainer and I obviously recommend for you to go in there and ask for him if you want someone to whip you back into shape! His workouts will leave you sore for 3 – 4 days, that’s how you know you’re giving hell to those muscles right?!! No pain no gain!!!

Laid back gym, no drama, variety of people at different levels of experience, love the variety of machines and the on-demand room for «group» exercise. I’ve been here since it opened and have been happy with no complaints. Bathrooms are nice, showers work well, and there are plenty of lockers. Would like more variety on the tvs but I bring my phone and stream shows/movies so it’s not a big deal. Staff are polite. Not super friendly but okay.

Overall good gym, very spacious, but can’t find a cardio machine without all the tv channels stealing your attention with negative news; anyways, I just had a bad experience with the hydromassage not working. Be careful if you want to add on the PERKS package because hydromassage frequently doesn’t work (or maybe it was just mad at me in particular) — it loses connection, hopefully they get this fixed.
It was hard to get a hold of a manager at this location to resolve my issue (wanted a refund, because the few times I went to the gym in the month the hydromassage was not working), phone cut out quite a bit one day and I didn’t receive a call back in a timely manner. Seems like they have connection issues.
Eventually I called corporate and they gave me a credit towards next month, which is ok, because I go to a different location now. And I was able to cancel the perks package. All that being said, I didn’t hear that the issue would get resolved, the lady from corporate was basically trying to say that the perks is more than just the hydromassage, but I said that’s the only reason I got it. So, I still feel for anyone who is paying for the perks package and can’t use the hydromassage on a consistent basis.

This place is conveniently located next to me. I have been here a few times. Membership here is one of the cheapest they have to offer. At the same token, there is not that many equipment as oppose to the other 2 in-shape in Merced. If you like lifting, this place is probably not for you. They don’t have everything for lifting compared to the other gym. They do have lots of floor area for ab work-outs. Equipments here are well-maintained.

Really nice new and clean place. Low traffic. Friendly staff. Good variety of equipment. Conveniently located. Lots of parking. This place is several steps up from the other two In Shape Merced locations in terms of overall quality. Wondering why more people don’t come here yet. Maybe they aren’t advertising it?
Down sides are the size, but with so little traffic it’s not always an issue. Tons of cardiovascular equipment but the weights area is very limited and cramped. Can be problematic when a lot of big dudes are trying to lift. They also have very limited hours on the weekend.
I wish the company would invest in making the other two locations half as nice.
