In-​Shape: Merced Yosemite Avenue is a full-​service family fitness center. Our club is committed to serving its members and community by providing valued health and recreational programs, and facilities that ENHANCE the body, RENEW the mind and NURTURE the spirit. We have invested $ 1 million dollars in transforming this club in to Merced’s leading fitness resort.

In addition to our state-​of-​the-​art cardio machines and weight training equipment, our club is known for our family-​friendly atmosphere and a wide variety of children’s activities from basketball, day camps, swimming lessons, racquetball camps, tennis camps and clinics for juniors and adults. LOVE it! I just joined my young family up and we already love it! The facilities are very well set up (you don’t need to walk past all the Meat Heads to get where you want), the amenities are well sized (weighing scales in the bathroom so noone has to see your numbers), and the STAFF!!! Extremely welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Especially JD. She’s so lovely and understanding and knowledgeable and just great. Looking forward to more good times at InShape!

Isaac Yarrell, the director of tennis at In Shape on Yosemite Ave. is a fantastic coach! I recommend classes through Coach Isaac to anyone and everyone wanting to learn how to play! He is more than knowledgeable about the sport, and he works GREAT with kids. My son went back into tennis through Coach Isaac after a two year break (unsure if he even wanted to get back into the sport). My son has a better understanding of the game now, he has been learning new techniques and has been improving his game every single week. He is hooked on tennis again – after just one class! Coach Isaac = A++

I think this is a great gym facility, very clean and nice crew, even the manager is very nice and I definitely like that the ladies who watch the kids at the kids club are much more personal and give that one-​on-​one attention to each kid, at least I’ve noticed since being there. I recently went to the one on G street and have definitely had a much better experience at this one.
My Bitchy Mom Rant: The only thing I don’t like about this gym ARE THE AFTERNOON TIMES for the Kids club. I pay $ 79 a month with a whopping total $ 948 for a whole year and I have to work around their kids club hours, the mornings are fine but I HATE that they re-​open their kids club at 4:30pm and 5:00pm on fridays and are CLOSED SUNDAYS. I work mornings, so cant really go in the morning and 4:30 is late to me, especially when most kids dinner times are 5pm and fridays times are even worse. Lets face it theres nothing to do in merced, so the least they could do is be open sundays too! 24 hours fitness’s Kids club afternoon hours were 3:30 pm plus on Fridays and were open saturday & SUNDAY. The city wasn’t a big city, probably about the same size of merced, so idk what their deal is with their sucky kids club hours. I hope one day whoever overrules this decision changes their kids club hours thats more accommodating. Although, I highly doubts it and im guessing money has something to do with it. *smh*

I have been a member at In-​Shape: Merced-​Yosemite Ave for years now. I like that’s it’s a smaller gym and clean. I do sometimes wish there were more classes to choose from each day, before and after work, but overall there are good options. I started personal training in October with Callah after having my 2nd baby. She is very knowledgeable and teaches me various exercises to work all the different muscle groups. I like that we do circuits and interval training during our sessions too. I feel that I have learned enough to be able to workout on my own or at home when I’m not training. Callah pushes me to keep going and I have seen good results in a short amount of time. She has educated me on my nutrition as well, which will allow me to go further to reach my goals. I would highly recommend Callah for your personal training needs at In-​Shape: Merced-​Yosemite Ave.

I have been a member at In-​Shape Yosemite Ave for just over two months now. My experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The trainer I work with once a week, Callah, has been great. Not only has she taught me how to use the various pieces of equipment safely (I find some of the equipment intimidating!) and to construct a workout I can then replicate on my own time (and at home), she was able to discuss a healthy eating plan with me and set up realistic, attainable goals. She is a strong motivator, without being over the top. The staff is courteous and helpful, and welcome you by name when you arrive. The indoor facility is clean and well kept. The only complaint I can muster at this point is other patrons occasionally leave equipment in the wrong places. I highly recommend In-​Shape Yosemite Ave.

It’s still hard for me to believe that I’m going to a gym and that I actually LIKE it! I love Marie at the front entrance, always feels like I’m saying hello to my mom;) love Verdie in the childcare who comes up with all her own crafting ideas for our precious babies, wow!, and love my trainer Callah, red hair or blonde, she’s so creative with our sessions. She can make a machine do things you never thought it could without compromising my safety;) I love going to the gym, almost more than running. The results have been wonderful thus far. Who knew I had abs? Thankyou!

I love going to this gym! It’s always clean and has a fun, welcoming atmosphere. Callah, a personal trainer has whipped my body into shape in a short amount of time. Every session is different and keeps the workout from getting boring. I always look forward to what Callah has planned for my workout :)

i joined In Shape July 1015. I signed up for two personal training sessions per week with Callah. I have been very pleased with her approach to training, her knowlledge and enthusiasm. My sessions are challenging, fun, and never boring. The gym itself is usually quiet when I train, I rarely have to wait to use equipment. The staff is friendly and professional. The pools, spa, and suana are clean. I look forward to all of my workouts. There could be more classes, but my membership allows me to take classes at the G St. facility which is fine.

Nice size building. I love the aquatic classes, 3 pools. They have a sauna and hot tub. The hours are great and the staff is friendly. They have a trainer to help you if needed. There are different excercise classes that they offer. There are so many different types of equipment to choose from to keep up the level of workout you want and to keep you motivated.

I’m generally very pleased with the recent upgrades to the club. There were much needed changes and I feel they did a good job. However the length of time it took to finish the job was frustrating, especially in the locker rooms where the floors were really gross! Where I think their biggest failure is in communication. It is almost non-​existent. Even though they have everyone’s email address, there is nothing sent out informing members about the activities, updates, or schedules. There is a new club opening on R Street in a week’s time and I know nothing about it. It is useless asking the front desk. Often they are as clueless as we are. Whoever is in charge of communications is really falling down on the job.
I just checked the web site today for hours, since it was Labor Day. It says that they were opened as of 5:00 this morning. When I went there, it was posted not open until 8:00. Another wasted trip! Get your act together people!

This places looks high-​end, but it’s the same management as any other In-​Shape. The showers randomly turn ice-​cold, and employees don’t enforce club rules. I don’t pay $ 59/​month to police the club. I suggest you save your money and go to the other In-​Shape in town, or go elsewhere. Being a member during the remodeling was a nightmare– they should have offered gift cards or discounted rates at the height of it, because there was so little to do. I had better and faster results at The Studio without having to put up with the stuff I did at this place, so I’m quitting In-​Shape.

I love this place and it would have had 5 stars but recent management change has taken it a step back. Indoor basketball courts best part of gym but new management now has exercise classes on basketball court. This leads to lots of ladies and other bringing non basketball shoes on the gym floor and bring lots of dust, skid marks, and other foreign substances. Would not be surprised if someone gets hurt playing basketball from the dirt from exercise classes and sues the gym.

This is definitely a higher end gym. It has tennis courts, racquetball, a ping pong table, pool, standard cardio and weight machines. I come here because my boyfriend is part of this gym and he loves it, so when I am in town I get a guest pass for the gym. He has personal training sessions and his trainers are all great and he is seeing improvements. There are a lot of different types of equipment to use at this gym and you can definitely get a good workout in. Whenever I talk to the staff they all seem nice and helpful.
