Mercer Island Dermatology

Today was my first visit at Mercer Island Dermatology and so far I am very happy.
I called yesterday wanting a new patient appt and they got me in less than 24 hours later. The office is easy to find, great parking, and a beautiful office inside.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. My main reason for the appointment today was a large blemish under the skin on my face. Not only did they treat my acne, but they made time for some Botox treatment as well.
I was given face wash samples. And a coupon for the topical prescription they are recommending. Besides being friendly and informative, it also seems they are respectful of pt’s finances as well.
I will definitely be coming back for future skin care needs.

Disregard the negative reviews on here, this place is fabulous. All three doctors are incredibly knowledgeable, kind and beyond eager to help. The women at the front desk is also very nice and always willing to squeeze me in at the last moment. All of the procedures my mom and I have had at MI Derm have yielded incredible results. I would reccomend this place to anyone.

Oh boy. My doctor referred me to this place and I will remember to NOT thank her for that! Dr. Hughes is so friendly and nice and INCOMPETENT! She prescribed a drug that I didn’t want to use but after repeated pleas to her staff to get a different prescription or to talk to the doctor again, I gave up and went to the pharmacist to ask him about the drug and it’s effects. He cringed at how she was asking me to use it. Bad sign. But I had been trying to deal with Mercer Island Derm. for a month to resolve the problem and just wanted to get down to treating the issue. He recommended a different dermatologist.
So I went to the derm. he recommended and I was actually able to get an appointment! The staff were friendly! Gasp! and the Doctor found a mole that had to be removed since it was one step away from full on cancer. Dr. Hughes had said it looked «fine» when I asked her about it. The new dermatologist (Narra Dermatology) also listened and changed the prescription for my issue to something that seemed much more reasonable, and oh yeah, it worked!
Dr. Hughes office has terrible parking. The staff is rude. It’s impossible to get a timely appointment since she works about 3 days a week and not even full days at that. (maybe that has changed?) Her staff is so unhelpful it boggles my mind. They caused me so much stress in trying to deal with them all while feeling stressed about fixing my skin issues that were cancer related. Gosh, if I could give zero stars I would. Please try somewhere different. You can find a doctor who is nice, friendly AND competent. It’s just not Dr. Hughes.

Do not see this doctor. She is horrible. She did a laser treatment on my face which resulted in significant scarring after she promised me several times that there would be none. She does not know what she is going. Do not see her!

The staff here is exceptional and Dr Hughes is wonderful. I spent several months in the sun over the winter and did some damage. Dr Hughes worked her magic and I’m glowing again. :) From the moment I walked in until I left, I felt welcomed and extremely comfortable. I will definitely be back!

I have been to many Derm offices in the past, and MI’s is the absolute best. A number of my girlfriends have been coming here for years and swear by the acne injections and facials — and now I do too! My oldest daughter has started coming with me to treat her skin (sunscreen, acne, the works) and if I can recommend a place for my kids, I can definitely do that for the public, too!

Let me first say, that I have incredibly bad luck finding the right doctor. I recently made an appointment to see Allison, and couldn’t be happier. She has a wonderful disposition, and was very easy to talk to and very informative. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Office location is very tricky to find but worth the effort. I look forward to a repeat visit.

I have gone to Allison a few times and my husband and Mother-​in-​law go to her too. She has great technical skill as well as terrific interpersonal skills. I feel I can be honest with her. Oh, and she speaks Spanish. She’s terrific!

Have been here about 6 times at the office on Mercer Island (A little tricky to find the first time, but easy to get to!).
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Dr. Hughes is amazing. She is a very knowledgeable Dermatologist, as well as a very friendly, down to earth, accessible, caring person.
The Dr. and her staff treated me like a valuable patient, not a statistic or someone to rush through an appointment. Dr. Hughes was the first one to suggest allergy skin testing for a skin condition that did not seem to go away. After discovering a few allergies I have to commonly used additives to shampoo, creams, etc., my skin has improved greatly. I highly recommend this clinic.

Loved Mercer Island Dermatology! Went for the first time last month. Dr. Hughes was as personable as she was knowledgeable. She knew how to treat me during my pregnancy. Easy to access building, right off of I-​90 with easy parking made her practice the perfect fit for my busy schedule.

Dr Hughes and her staff are very helpful, always cheery, and the office is very laid back yet professional. They even offer to make me lattes when I come in! I can speak to anyone at the office openly about my status and appointments, and I’m never left waiting for very long. Allison Hughes is always smiling, and takes time to explain in detail the reasons for her recommendations. Also, my skin has never looked better.

If you’re looking for dermatology care ranging from standard issues to cosmetic procedures. Dr. Allison Hughes and her staff are awesome — it’s unlike any doctor’s office I’ve ever visited. The office is modern and anything but sterile-​looking — great fixtures, colors and lay-​out. The treatment rooms I was in had views of Lake Washington. I went in for a to treat some serious acne scarring that I’ve had for 30 years. Dr. Hughes treated me with a state-​of-​the-​art laser procedure — Deep FX and Active FX. She and her staff communicated with me before, during and after the procedure. Dr. Hughes even called me on the weekend to see how I was doing. I can’t say enough about the staff — they are professional and caring, knowledgeable and kind, and just warm people. Her location is easy access to from either Seattle or the Eastside.
