Blinds Chalet

I would never order from them again. I thought I would get good blinds at a reasonable price. What I got was the LOWEST QUALITY POSSIBLE blinds and parts with cheezy, warped valences. Since we take pride in our home, these blinds will likely be replaced. Don’t make our mistake, look elsewhere. The generic blinds at any discount store would be as good if not better and cost a fraction of what I paid.
Ordered six blinds, the largest arrived damaged. So far, dealing with customer service has been about the level you would expect: a slow online chat bot. I will update if the problem gets resolved.

Whatever you do STAY AWAY FROM Blinds Chalet!!!
I phoned in my order and placed an order for pure white cellular blinds.
What I received was «GREEN HEAD RAILS» with white cells.
I tried for several months to resolve this and Eric Ellingson’s (the general manager) response was the blinds head rails are color coordinated and they have a NO REFUND POLICY written and posted on the website.
Read the other reviews have that had similar experiences and believe them!
They are true based on my experience.

I have ordered blinds in the past and have been very happy. But we just moved into a new house and ordered 18 blinds. but as we’re installing our 1^st one… the 1^st screw went into the bracket but the next one strips it. The screws are too long and cheap. For the price I paid the screws should be high quality. I will not be ordering again. And i am pissed about the money we spent. I do not recommend them. unless you have your own screws to use!

Don’t waste your time. They pull bait and switch. I ordered a motorized shade at a price that was $ 60 less than most competitors during the black Friday sale. After the sales were over — I was notified (only by email) by a clerk named Shannon who told me they can’t give me the shade that the already charged to my credit card for $ 355 and now I needed to spend an additional $ 179 for the same exact product… or I could downgrade to a lesser product for the same cost. She also lied and said she sent out samples so I could compare the products and she didn’t until I had to call the company. I got a rude «manager» who talked over me and still insisted they didn’t have to give me the product I paid for. My money was finally returned yesterday. STAY AWAY from this group of dishonest people. I had ordered aluminum blinds from them before this and the product seemed fine for the first month. Over Christmas a guest banged into one and now it is dented beyond repair. They sell cheap products and don’t uphold good business practices.

I’m not sure what the problem the other reviewers had but I have been extremely pleased with Blinds Chalet. I put through the order, it comes quickly, it’s exactly what I want and it’s the most reasonably priced that I could find.
I bought basic mini blinds for a New York City apartment and saved hundreds of dollars! I’m not very handy so I used the existing brackets otherwise the cost of hanging them in New York far exceeds the cost of the blinds!

I’ve made two purchases at Blinds Chalet over the years and both transactions went through without a problem. The products I received were as advertised and the fit was perfect. If I recall correctly, there were some rebates offered through
, which is how I heard about this company (not sure if they still offer those rebates). The cost was significantly lower than any local vendor or home improvement store and we were happy with the quality of the blinds.
Just recently I moved to a new house and brought one of the vertical blinds with us to cover our back sliding door. Unfortunately, the mounting brackets got lost during the move, so I contacted Blinds Chalet and they were able to send me replacement mounting brackets. Thumbs up for their customer service…

What ever you do, Do Not order blinds from Blinds Chalet. Probably, they should change their name to Blinds Charade. As you can see by their Unilocal scores they don’t have a sterling track record.
I ordered a blind in a color based on their website and what I got wasn’t anything close to the color I ordered. I realize many people are thinking, OK color is sometimes a little subjective, and if it was even a little close I would have been happy. But it wasn’t, and their attitude once you contact them is even worse, computer monitor colors vary, you should have ordered a sample, sorry we can reorder it for you and we’ll give you a bigger discount.
What I should have done is checked their Unilocal scores, and I wouldn’t be typing on my «color varying» computer monitor. Lesson learned.

I have been doing business with Blind Chalet for many years. I am very surprised at the decline in the quality of this company. I work with designers and had suggested they try them out. I’m retracting that statement. I just reordered a blind to replace one from 2009. It was to be ebony! Not even close. Its reddish brown. When I called she said its my fault because I didn’t order a sample. Why would the color advertised change?
She told me I’m out of luck no return or exchange. When I asked” what I was suppose to do with a blind I couldn’t use?” her reply was «Oh I don’t know why don’t you donate it!!! I told her to loose my account she said I’d be happy to! RUDE!!!

We’ve had two blinds for about 8 months, no problems and easy to install. They were very helpful about sending out as many samples as we wanted, so we had no surprises when it arrived. (Be aware that products with cloth backing are very light-​proof!) Our order came pretty quickly and the price far beats what we saw elsewhere.

SCAMMERS — run screaming away from this company before you are victimized like I was.

I ordered 6 blinds from here. They arrived on time. When I went to install the first one, there was a 1.5 inch gap from the top and the first slat did not open and close. When i wound and unwound the blinds, they would become all crooked. The blind was not usuable at all, after all the work of installing it. I went on to look at all the other blinds and they had the same issues. I called and spoke to Meagan Jones and she insisted I email her a photo. I did this, and made a video of all the issues. She said that she would contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer said that I should just use my hand to fix the flat defective blind and said that the blinds being crooked when rolled up was a common problem. They didn’t address my other issue.
I had to file a dispute with Paypal, and then my credit card company. I was issued a refund.
Please go somewhere else and purpase blinds. I know they’re cheap but its not worth the hassle and frustration.

Like many of the other reviewers, I had my issues with Blinds Chalet. Due to some verbiage mistakes on their website, I got a product that was different than I expected. At first, I was told there was nothing they could do for me. But, with some pressing and asking that my issue be taken up a level, they came to me with a way to fix the problem. I’m looking forward to receiving my new blinds.
My advice to other buyers would be to give them a call before ordering and confirm that what you think you’re ordering (corded/​cordless, any upgrades, color, etc.) is indeed correct. It will save everyone a lot of hassle.

Ordered samples, pick a blind, ordered and paid online.
They emailed to say ‘Item discontinued’ but offered to send more samples. Repeat the process above and a 2^nd ‘out of stock’ email came shortly thereafter.

They are very good at sending samples of products they don’t have. If you enjoy screwing around (but never ACTUALLY getting blinds) you will enjoy your experience with Blinds Chalet.

I purchased cordless blinds 1 year ago from Blinds Chalet.
They are great…
unless you want to open and close them. If that is the case, they are not great.
Three of the five panels are failing after one year, meaning that they don’t retract properly when you want to raise them. Very annoyed.

Also received a blind exactly opposite dimensions of what I ordered… and they refused to do anything about it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and their customer service agent said she’d have to call me back. NEVER CALLED. NO REFUND. Out 150 bucks for one window!
Their «customer service» is NO SERVICE AT ALL as you can read in the reviews here. They have major attitude and never fix their own problems.
Better have nothing on your windows than pay these crooks.

2 stars for samples — I was impressed with how quickly Blinds Chalet got me samples of their blinds. I decided to get a designer blind for my bathroom. Measured twice, submitted my order, waited two weeks — and got something with the dimensions swapped from what I had said. I checked the email: sure enough, the confirmation had them backwards. In retrospect, I should have been vigilant about them getting the order wrong, but I buy things online all the time and never really have a problem.
Anyway, I called customer service and waited for awhile, and gave up without ever speaking to a human being. Sent an email, and got a call back a couple days later. The person who called me basically said it’s my fault, they accept absolutely no returns or exchanges, and they’ll make another one for «40%» off – which sounds good until you realize that their website always lists everything at «33%» off. So they were offering me a 7% discount, or bubkes. I told them thanks but no thanks.

Poor quality and customer service. This company is fine if nothing goes wrong– meaning you receive the blinds on time, and nothing breaks.
I however, had a cord which broke where the seams were glued together, which left the blinds nonfunctional. I had to take multiple pictures and send to them before they could process my request for a replacement part. They then had to go through the actual manufacturer to discuss replacing the part. Finally, 2 weeks later, they agreed to send me the replacement. Now 6 weeks later, NOTHING. I re-​called and emailed requesting the part, and they «say» they have re-​sent it.
For blinds that are $ 150 each, this is not acceptable!

BUYERS BEWARE,
This company needs to work on their quality control issues. If they would check their products, their merchandise would not go out imperfect. Pictures were sent to them, but they wanted the product returned. I do not trust this company to give me new blinds. They want to repair what was sent to me.

As a repeat customer I was SHOCKED to read negative reviews on this company; but now as a patron in 2013 I see that the negative reviews may be warranted on some products that they sell. THIS COMPANIES PRODUCTS HAVE SLIPPED A WHOLE LOT. CUSTOM SHADES THAT I HAD MADE IN 2007 with fabric below the HEADRAIL to hide any closure difficulties with ” top down bottom up shades’ are no longer being made that way…
This top down/​bottom up is an option that people pay MORE money for in addtion to a regular shade. .
So when if the window is level, the sill is level and the aluminum cellular shade is fabric it still could be a little gap because it is fabric.
Fabric permanently installed on the headrail allows the shade when not in perfect alignment when they close; it eliminates a dead space or gap that is there here now when the blind is in the al the way up and down ‘closed-​normal– position’.
But the ‘new manufacturer’ for blinds chalet chooses to make them ‘cheap’ and use a piece of plastic to attempt to cover the gap with no additional fabric buffer.
In addition they no longer take the time to INSPECT or sign off with initials on the blinds that they ship you. my 3 packages arrived unsigned in separate boxes. None of which appear to have been inspected.
Repeat business is EARNED it is not given. When I CONTACTED customer service; they were aware of the problem. they said… oh just take a couple of pictures so I CAN FORWARD PICTURES OF THE GAP TO THE MANUFACTURER. WILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. YES LIKE REMAKE THE BLINDS THE WAY THAT THEY DON’T SHOW GAPS.. we will see. in the mean time I am voicing my displeasure on Unilocal..Hopefully I can warn someone not to make the same mistake I did Just don’t go by the website pictures; the beauty is in the details. and these no longer appear to be detailed oriented product. just a 2^nd rate one.

UPDATE APRIL 2013. The CSR NANCY D. did try to help our situation and not all of the Blind Chalet products are made this way. The JOHN GIDDING models has magnets on them to hold the corners up. Not sure the magnets will last 10 years [life of the product] but willing to try to work with them on this. Nancy D is a credit to your organization; she even had one of the manufactures ship a length of the fabric so we could somehow try to insert it in the gap. My wife said she should not have to remake — their error while paying close to 200 for the 1 window treatment. So 2 out of the 3 window treatments were acceptable products. Think my wife is done ordering products like these over the internet.

My first statement is do not buy from this company! I ordered «cordless» blinds, and they came with a «cord». When I called customer service, if you’d like to call it that” she laughed at me on the phone and said, «they have to have a cord». I said, pardon my ignorance but you advertise cordless. She said that yes but they have to have a cord to move the wood slats. However, the website says they offer wands so that you do not have to have a cord that your animal may get wrapped around.
I felt as though I were talking to a child. Her name was Hannah. She said the offer of a wand vs a cord was «generic». That exactly what she said. I’m pretty sure she was a teenager. She suggested that I tie the cord over to the side. Well, then I won’t be able to move the slats. She then got confused. I cannot get my money back and she only offered me an idiots suggestion. So, now I’m stuck with a $ 200 blind that I cannot use for fear that my cat will hang himself from it. Oh and one last thing, they do not have managers working on Saturdays. Helpful.
