Cat Hospital of Metairie

Dr Amy Perkins graduated from Cornell and that’s one of the reasons we go to her. She’s excellent. The annual exam costs $ 60 and thirty cents. And it’s worth every penny. The add ons could be another $ 20 for the intestinal parasite exam (stool sample analysis).
I’m including pictures of my invoice to show the cost break down & details.
There are two doctors at the hospital both specialized in cat care. But I specifically chose Dr. Amy Perkins. She also hosts YouTube videos of how to brush your cat’s teeth. She owns 3 cats herself, with different personalities, different needs & preferences so she is so natural at handling cats.
Thus far, I’ve taken my ragdoll boy kitten for an annual exam, a second visit for its final 4in1 (FVRCP) vaccine and another visit (medical progress check) for eye issues ($ 27).
Dr. Perkins recommend Dr. Mouney, an animal eye specialist at Metairie Small Animal Hospital for a second opinion just in case I wanted a second opinion regarding his eye. So I went and $ 150 later and meeting another excellent veterinarian both exams resulted in the exact same prognosis & conclusion. However, Dr. Money has more fancy eye related exam utensils. I don’t know their exact names, but if your kitten or cat had seriously problematic eye issues I highly recommend Dr. Mouney.
In the meantime, Dr. Amy Perkins is just as wise, and will remain our primary veterinarian. The care is great, the cost is much less and there are no sick dogs in the waiting room, and there is also no wait.

I admit it, I’m a crazy cat lady. If you are a crazy cat lady/​man like myself, then Cat Hospital of Metairie will be perfect for you. Really, I only have one cat, but I’m still kind of crazy.
Anyway, the vets and vet techs not only know what they’re talking about, but they actually appreciate what having a cat is like, so they make relevant and helpful suggestions for pet care. If anything, they love cats too much and maybe go a little above and beyond what most pet owners are up to investing in an animal. The docs are responsive and willing to address any issues at pretty much any time. I’ve only had one veterinary emergency, but they were able to fit us in with minimal notice. Even though I’ve moved to New Orleans (with two other vets in walking distance), I still come back to this office for all of my cat’s annual exams and I think that speaks volumes.
Boarding and grooming services are available, if you need it, but I have never used them. When you go into the office be aware that they house several friendly office cats, in case your cat is aggressive. Also, they feature cats up for adoption in the office or on their website.
