Four Points by Sheraton Miami Beach

We’ve been staying here for years as Starwood members, as the location on the beach with great view (if ocean front) and the boardwalk for miles. However, we will never return after a truly horrid visit this year. My husband and I were looking forward to a relaxing vaca and the hotel felt like it was over run by unruly children, running and sprawled over the lobby and pool area at every hour of the day.
The pool was packed with huge families of children, so the last place we would want to relax was the pool, and this was not a school vacation week like Christmas or spring break when this would be expected and we would have avoided. Every chair was «reserved» with a towel by 8 am and there were never towels available until we complained and begged for 2 towels. And without the pool option, we would go to the beautiful beach but cost a fortune every day, $ 30 for 2 chairs and an umbrella.
The first night, we were awoken at 4:30 AM by loud voices next door which lasted until at least 5:30. We thought maybe they were checking out for an early flight but no such luck. We were able to switch rooms but were at a standstill waiting the entire day for a new room.
Whereas there used to be free coffee available in the lobby as an alternative to the $ 20 pp skimpy buffet breakfast (used to be much better), the coffee is now only available until 9 am. The internet access is free but slow and requires constant re-​logging in.
Our 2^nd night was also aggravating, as we were trying to relax in our room with the door open to hear the ocean (purpose of asking for ocean front) however, there were tons of very loud children in the pool until nearly midnight when we got out of bed and went downstairs demanding they close the pool to these loud kids even though the pool is supposedly open ²⁴⁄₇ and we were told it’s up to parents to control their kids. The fact that we heard these kids from the 10^th floor is an indication of how loud they were and who in their right mind would pay hundreds of dollars a night for a vacation wrought with such disruption. The pool should be closed by 10 pm at the latest when the majority of adult paying guests would like to start unwinding in peace.
It’s such a shame since it’s a truly perfect location. Given that this is not Disney world and not a traditional school vacation, we didn’t think we would have our adult vacation so impacted by huge families with many kids.

Sub par rooms for the price. No free breakfast. You get charged for everything. Very expensive disgusting food. Terrible staff. Avoid.

I wish I could give this hotel zero stars. There is nothing good about this place. The rooms are filthy, air conditioner leaks A LOT! and there is mold in the bathroom. Save your money or book elsewhere even if its more money– it will be worth it!

We paid around $ 180 for the king single bed on a Friday night… Not bad price for what you get. We checked in late, around 9:30 PM so they upgraded us for free to an ocean view room since they booked out our room. The Oceanview wasn’t a straight on view we could see the pool and the ocean kind of peekng behind that: so I definitely wouldn’t be willing to pay more for an ocean view if that’s what the view is. Wasn’t bad for a free upgrade though! The bed was comfortable and the room was good sized and the location is great.

This hotel is ok. It’s on a strip of mainly other hotels and nothing is in close proximity. The staff was courteous and the rooms were clean

The staff was very kind and accommodating to our «sabbath» requirements! They also gave us a late check out which made it a great stay!

Somewhat dead compared to its neighbors (Fontainebleau and Soho Beach House) however; excellent for the business traveler

Again, not the scene but who cares if you’re just looking for a night cap or pregame drink

Standard, 3:00 pm check-​in time. I did have some trouble with the whole check-​in process but nothing to major

Overall, this hotel is really nice and the staff is exceptional accommodating. My purpose for this stay was for business travel and I had some trouble checking –in without my corporate credit card however; the manager on duty, Chris, came to save the day. After I checked-​in, I was able to drop my bags off and head to the lobby bar to enjoy my two FREE drink vouchers. My overview experience was great and the place is clean and conveniently located within walking distance to the best Collins and South Beach have to offer. The hotel restaurant and room service were reasonable and service was prompt.

The level of service I received from the reservation (which was upgraded) to each and every level of this establishment was excellent. Everyone was extremely polite and helpful in all aspects. The special thanks would have to go to MaryAlice for her assistance in making this a memorable getaway for my 10^th anniversary. The rooms were clean and the bottle of champange was cold! and the view… the view was spectacular! We had fee wifi and received free breakfast which was better than any other continental breakfast I have ever had. I will definitely go back! Thank you MaryAlice

Worst hotel for the $. Thank God it was only for one night, otherwise I would have left

This is probably one of the worst Sheraton I have stayed at. The room smelled of puke, there was water leaking from the overhead AC into the room, bathroom shower head was broken and all the common areas were horribly dirty. Stay away from this place if you can

A cute young Italian man checked me in. He was very nice and polite and apologized for not being able to get me an upgrade (as a Gold member) This is the highlight of this place. Funny, they sent me an email a week ago apologizing for the same thing and letting me know I could cancel. hummm…
Now I know why. This place is awful. The rooms are like sleeping in a small smelly closet. Don’t even think about using the internet. I called the SPG Concierge line my first night and they got me a room at a different SPG Hotel. Thank You! I would not have survived 4 nights there. Off to the Westin.
The common area did look nice though but I ran outta that place. Didn’t even stick my foot in the sand.

It’s fine. I am the highest Starwood level, so there was a bottle of champagne waiting for me.
Rooms were pretty standard– nothing outrageously fancy, but not crappy.
Ate at the restaurant twice for breakfast. The breakfast buffet features powdered eggs — gross. There is some European influence here with cold cuts and standard cheeses as well as a ham.

Workout room is dated. Looks like the big pool was something. It’s about an 8 dollar Über ride to somewhere cool on South Beach.
Right next door to the Fountain Bleu, so you can find better food and clubs there.

OVERALL: Great place to stay in Miami Beach — good location on the beach, friendly service, clean, attractive common areas, super beach view, perfect for a relaxing beach stay! We will return.
PROS:
LOCATION — great
* easy to get to and from Miami via nearby Rt 112 causeway, situated around mid-​Miami Beach, it is about 15 minutes by car to both ritzy Bal Harbour to the north and the trendy South Beach area
* right on the beach — a minute walk from the lovely pool area through the keyed access gate in the back takes you to the boardwalk and beach
* beautiful ocean view from our room and balcony
CHECK-​IN and CHECK-​OUT — both were easy and fast, with friendly service
ROOM — comfortable and clean
* Comfortable beds and pillows — not too hard, not too soft — just right!
* Clean bathroom — sink and bathtub were spotless
* Linens –the bath towels were the softest ever
* large walk-​in closet with small safe, iron and ironing board
* 2 bottles of water — free and replenished daily
* Free wi-​fi, good internet service
VALET SERVICE — very good; They ask that you call the valet office 15 minutes before you want your car — we never had to wait for it. $ 29/​day plus tax
FOOD — great!
* Enjoyed the $ 16 BREAKFAST BUFFET — SUNGRASS CAFÉ, served 8−11am in main dining area — good selection of fresh pastries, bread and rolls, bacon and sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes and waffles, fruit, cheese, yogurt, and hot and cold cereal. NOTE: specialty eggs are made to order and delivered to your table — omelets were great.
* Ordered drinks and sandwiches at the TIKI BAR by the pool to enjoy on the beach — turkey club sandwich and tomato flatbread (like pizza) were delicious!
CONS
* No mini-​fridge in the room and the ice machines are on every other floor
* The concierge staff is friendly but did not seem that knowledgeable. They did make dinner reservations for us one night, but we made our own during the rest of our 6 night stay. They did not have any suggestions for a sunset boat cruise around Miami but there are quite a few brochures available next to the desk and of course, the internet is probably the best bet for tour and restaurant information and reservations.
FYI
* Lounge chairs and umbrellas on the beach can be rented from an independent company for $ 10 each cash, no credit and available until 5pm– their hut with blue umbrellas is to the right once you enter the beach from the boardwalk. (The Soho Beach House’s blue and white chairs are to the left.)
* Lime green beach towels are available at the poolside cart — no problems getting them. (no sign out necessary)
* We were on the 7^th floor, which had a wonderful ocean view. Lower floors may have an obscured view from bushes and trees, so you may want to ask for a higher floor when booking an ocean view room.
* There is only one restaurant in the Sheraton, but the hotel is very close to other hotels with more food options. We ate at the Fontainebleu twice — Scarpetta’s and Blade (Sushi) were both quite good.
* Be aware –at the Sheraton and other Miami Beach restaurants, a gratuity (15% to 18%) is included on the check.
* For parking options, there is a garage across from the hotel. I think it is $ 25/​day but not sure if that includes unlimited in and out. We went for the valet parking — convenient in and out service — $ 29/​day plus tax.
* There is a CitiBike bicycle stand (bicycles that can be rented from one location and returned at another of the 100 locations) a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.
* Yoga on the beach at 3^rd Street– 7am sunrise class and 6pm sunset class by the lifeguard stand; free parking on Ocean Drive and 3^rd Street (meters start at 9am) — walk through Marjory Stoneman Douglas Ocean Beach Park to the beach. We went to the 7am class. If you can get up early enough, go for it! Don’t forget to bring a large towel. The instructor Ben had a calm, helpful demeanor; beautiful view, relaxing, perfect start to the day!
RESTAURANT TIPS
* Try the famous Joe’s Stone Crab, established in 1913 — at the southern tip of Miami Beach — popular and tasty… many of the wait staff have been working there for over 25 years!
* For Portuguese food, Old Lisbon (on Sunset in South Miami was perfect with a good array of bacalhau (cod) and pasteis de nata (iconic Portuguese custard tart).
* Oggi’s (on the 79^th St. Causeway) was also a lovely, but out of the way spot, for a good Italian dinner and attentive service.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the Sheraton Four Points!

I have stayed here multiple times and I am always pleased by the service that is provided here. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The hotel is modern and clean. I have only stayed using SPG points but I would likely stay here even if I had to pay cash.

Kinda of off the beat and path, for the price not a bad hotel, however not cheap. The hotel lacks customer service and proper management. No recognition to hotel loyalty what so ever.

The pasta with pink sauce!!! DAWGS… Might be made with cocaine, it’s so addicting. On a sour note though, the fettucini Alfredo was some of the worst I’ve ever had b. But we’ll keep it positive and say that the pink sauce is crack.

Great location, but the hotel is a little dated. I ended up getting a view of downtown instead of the ocean… bummer since I checked in early. I could never get the temperature comfortable to me, but with the humidiity, I guess I needed to keep it a little cooler than normal.

Basically: this place knows it has a good location and doesn’t care about providing any other value. I wouldn’t ever pay to stay here.
I booked on points and asked to be upgraded only if I got an ocean view. They upgraded me to a parking lot view. First world problems.
Forget about using the internet. It’s slow and spotty at best, and makes you re-​sign on every time you get kicked out (every 2 – 3 minutes).
There was black mold all over the shower tile (see my picture). Guys, get some Tilex and just spray it on. You don’t even have to wipe.
The small business center has cartoons playing on loop, because that makes sense. Forget taking a call or concentrating on work.
The lobby is freezing cold and plays garish music very loudly. Ok, I get that this is Miami, but there is not a party going on at 830 am. Relax.
The food is actively trying to be awful. Ordered a chocolate lava cake (I know, I know, so mid-​90s, but my gf is from Connecticut, what can you do). It came out cold. Seriously, how do you have a cold lava cake? Answer: it’s boxed cake they make ahead. A Little Debbie from 7 – 11 would have been better. The shrimp in the ceviche was pretty obviously pre-​frozen (as in cooked, and then frozen) and tasted like it had been doused in sour mix from the bar. But it came with Lays tortilla chips, so that’s a win.
One of the guys at the towel checkout was doing his job, the other was probably stoned and sexting his girlfriend, couldn’t be bothered. Didn’t even look up when I approached or acknowledge me when I asked a question. None of them really seemed to grasp the concept of signing towels in and out.
There was a lot of other stuff I remember being disappointed about, but after a while I just rolled my eyes and moved on. The car valet staff were the only ones that seemed to be on top of their job.

If you want to avoid the daily rate of valet parking, you can park at the garage across the street for a flat rate $ 25 with no in-​and-​out privileges with hotel validation.
As everyone complains about, the front desk has a bit of customer service issues, but I find it that it was more of a limited English, they don’t go out of their way to smile type of service.
Once again, this stay is free thanks to my awesome dad that offered to use his SPG Rewards points. For 10k points a night, this place isn’t as nice as the 3k points a night suite I stayed at in Fort Lauderdale. But you’re paying for the location — the beach is our backyard. Still, it offers a couple bottles of complimentary water and wifi. There is also free tea and coffee station near the lobby plus apples on the customer service desk.
There’s a local craft beer scene here in Florida. The guy at the bar is really cool, he asked to check our IDs so that made Mari happy :) Happy Hour from 4 – 7 is half off house liquor, aka well drinks and two for one beers. They have a few selections of craft beers. I tried 8 ball — similar to Guinness — and Mari tried the Monk in the Trunk that has a happy and fruity aftertaste. We were also offered complimentary ham and cheese croquettes, but didn’t try it since we just ate.
The rooms are whatever, with a fridge, and cool dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.
They allowed me to check out an hour later, and gave my dad’s SPG rewards account 250 points for not cleaning our room before checking out (great for the environment!)
South Beach tip: from here, it’s $ 2.25 to take the bus to South Beach on Indian Creek Rd. — bus S or L or the cab is $ 10 – 12
