I had implants placed by Dr. Friedman. There is no question he is truly an expert in his field. It was painless, easy, and had no complications. The office staff is professional. I highly recommend him

My boyfriend was referred here by a dentist to have all of his wisdom teeth pulled on January 4, 2012. We had two distinct issues here, although the first one was out of their control so I will not place fault.
1. SERVICE:
*I had to wait in the waiting room while my boyfriend had his surgery. About 45 mins later, they tell me I can go see him, and wanted me to keep him awake. The doctor originally told me that everything went fine. When I got back there, one of the assistance was very honest and told us the truth. She informed us that he is allergic to that anesthesia, and they almost lost him a few times. She said never to let him get anesthesia unless he is at a hospital where they have the resources to monitor him and respond more appropriately. She said thank God they were able to save him, but it was very close. How terrified I was!
* I think this assistant deserved 5 stars, and I would have said the service overall about 3 ½−4 stars for saving him! But the fact that the doctor lied to me and said everything went fine did not sit well with me. He should have told us (or at least me since my boyfriend was still delirious), the truth so we knew for future reference. Thank God for his open and honest assistant!
2. REIMBURSEMENT ISSUE:
* My boyfriend is covered under my dental. However, the cost was roughly $ 800 for all 4 wisdom teeth extractions and anesthesia. We had to pay everything upfront, because it can take up to eight weeks for the insurance company to reimburse the office, so instead, the customer has to wait for reimbursement. It is what it is, so we paid it through my personal account.
Needless to say, several months passed and we completely forgot, and they also made no absolutely no effort to let us know what our refund was after they got paid from the insurance company. It is now May 8, 2012, when I finally remembered to call them to follow up on our refund on the difference.
* The lady on the phone pulled his chart and told me the refund difference and if I agreed. I told her I have not seen anything from the office to tell me one way or the other, but it was better than nothing. Then she said she will put the letter in her manager’s folder who comes once a week, and it takes about 2 weeks to send the check out. Why did I have to call for them to initiate this process???
* Anyways, I said it’s already been almost 5 months, you can’t expedite the process, and of course the answer was no. She then asked me who to send it to, and I told her me since the money came out of my account. She told me she couldn’t unless we were married. I’m like whatever at this point we just want our d… money. I said well can u send it our current address, but since the address he had on file was his primary and a different address, she said not that I don’t trust you but I have to speak to him directly before I can send it to the address you gave me. I will give him a call to confirm.
SUMMARY
*This office makes you pay for all the costs upfront (which is normal), but even if you have insurance? (I don’t recall having to do this before at another dentist, maybe I’m wrong).
*This office gets reimbursed on insurance proceeds, and doesn’t seem to pay the customer back unless you remember to call and follow up. Who knows how many times they have been paid twice (upfront by the customer and insurance) and have not reimbursed the customer.
*Even if you pay for the service, if you are not on the account or married, you will not be reimbursed. Basically, as long as they are paid, then who cares about what happens to the customer after.
