Description

Specialties

We offer a weekly schedule of meditation classes, in-depth Buddhist study, and group sessions of prayer and meditation. Our drop-in classes are highly accessible for both Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike, and include simple advice for daily life that is easy to apply for reducing stress and negativity. We offer Saturday afternoon workshops or retreats on at least a monthly basis, and most of our activities include vegetarian food and social time afterwards.

History

Established in 2013.

We opened our doors at the current location in November of 2013, after several years of offering weekly meditation classes around Miami at various nightly rental venues. Since opening, we have started offering classes and prayer services for adults and kids on Sunday mornings, have begun our monthly Saturday afternoon workshops and retreats, and have started including group sessions of self-guided prayer and meditation to our practice schedule.

Meet the Manager

Norbu K.

Manager

Kelsang Norbu ordained as a Buddhist monk in the New Kadampa Tradition of Buddhism in 2006, receiving his vows from the internationally renowned meditation master and teacher Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. In 2012, Norbu received the title Gen, indicating more than four years as a successful Resident Teacher in this tradition. Since moving to Fort Lauderdale in 2010, it had been his vision to open a Kadampa Buddhist meditation center in Miami to serve the people there, and this vision became reality in 2013. Gen Norbu is deeply committed to the centers where he teaches in both Miami and Fort Lauderdale, offering as many as ten or more classes in an average week, as well as maintaining a sincere devotion and love for his own personal meditation practice and Buddhist studies.
