I don’t know what these people are trying to pull, but the sushi pieces are small and tasteless, the staff is rude and SLOW, the prices are high, and to top it off they included a 17% tip for two people at THE BAR in your bill!!! PLUS the booths were all closed off!!! HORRIBLE … SAVE YOUR TIME N MONEY

I’ve been wanting to come here for awhile and finally we were able to make it over there for lunch the other day. I was craving pad thai so I looked up on my menu pages app to make sure they have it, which they do.
the pad thai was super yummy and my hunny enjoyed his chicken with mixed veggies. The lunch specials are like $ 11.50 each.
the décor was really inviting and chic. not at all what I expected. I will definetly return for my next pad thai craving!

Having used to live in the Brickell area, I have frequented Indochine many times. It used to be a semi-​secret gem but with the mass migration into the empty condos downtown I think the traffic there has increased significantly, and perhaps the service has gone down a notch. However, I can honestly say the food is GREAT!
I like the fact that you can order good quality sushi here as well as Thai and Chinese. I had a friend who would order the Beef fried rice every single time he went here as it is awesome. Personally I am a big fan of the Ladies Choice combo. The 3 hand rolls you get are quite large and absolutely stuffed with fish. It is more than enough to fill you up. Also the mango roll is great, it is very unique with fresh cilantro and mango to counter the spicy tuna.
I think the prices are pretty reasonable on the sushi side considering the portions and quality although a little pricier for the entrees. Lunch is a really good deal with the entrees being priced cheaper for basically the same portion and with all rolls ½ off.
It is usually pretty packed on the weekends especially Friday night since all the drunks stumble over from Tobacco road. They sometimes have a DJ spinning loungey-​house music there which definitely adds to the ambiance.

My only experience with Indochine was based on Happy Hour. It was blissful.
Went with a group of friends after school for the day, since we were already in the area. I’d heard good things, and was blown away.
Half off for all the rolls, $ 2 for an order of nigiri. I had a vampire (with roasted garlic), and a crazy. Both were great, especially since they were half off. Good quality, and a lot of variety to choose from for happy hour.
Also half off are the cocktails. My friends got the lycheetini, which I had a taste of. They were delicious. Tasted exactly like the little lychee gelatin snacks you get as Asian markets. We also drank buckets of beer (Chang or Singha), which came with shots.
The waiter was awesome, and gave us a couple extra drinks, made sure we got exactly what we wanted.
I can’t speak for regular dinner. It’s probably too pricey for what you get. But DO COME for happy hour. I can’t wait to go back next week.

Never again. Wasn’t feeling so good a few weeks ago and called to order delivery.
The call went this way:
Me-«I’d like to place an order for delivery.»
Them– «Call back later, I’m busy.» And then he hung up!
I sent them an email explaining how shocked I was and have yet to hear back from them. That was three weeks ago.

I finally found a Thai place that delivers!!! I have ordered twice from them so I have no idea what the establishment looks like but their menu has alot of options. The first time I ordered the Vietnamese Beef Phở and it is a meal all unto it’s own… very authentic! Last night I ordered again because it was way to chilly for me to go anywhere & I love me some Tom Kha Gai soup… it was okay; a little too thick (perhaps too much coconut milk) and not as spicy as I like it. The Pad Thai was very good tho — found my new Thai place for sure
They also have a wide selection for sushi so maybe next time I will order some sushi as well

We opted for Indochine because she can get what she wanted (sushi or seafood) and I can get what I wanted (Thai noodles and/​or curry). The place was packed on a Friday night, but still the wait was minimal. These we considered good signs… the place has tables with stainless steel tabletops for easy maintenance, some vaguely Asian theme-​type stuff on the walls, raised booths and low-​profile tables. We chose the table initially, decided the chairs were a bit uncomfortable, then moved to a booth.
The service was initially fine, if a bit rushed. Our waiter was clearly in a hurry, as he did not ask enough questions to get the order perfect. My beer was served quickly and was quite cold, just the you’d want it, and the house wine, a pinot grigio, was good enough to order another.
The fish (Corvina special in ginger sauce) was terrific, if a bit pricey. The whitefish was perfectly cooked, not overdone which can get chewy, not underdone, which can taste fishy. But the real star was the Pad Kee Mao, which was almost excellent, if a bit mild by Thai standards. The portions were reasonable and food was served in timely fashion.
On the downside, the waiter, who was efficient to the point of being short, did not take the time to ask me how hot I wanted the Thai dish. Is it just me or is that not similar to failing to ask temperature on a steak? When I asked him about that later (I would have preferred a bit spicier) he offered to bring me those ingredients that they would have used had I specified. In just moments, he returned with a pot of chili powder, dropped it on the table, and ducked away again. I asked for the chili sauce, and he brought that right away.
Essentially, the food was better than adequate, the mood was right for a place at that price-​point, and the service could have been better. Still, if the food is the main thing, you can do a lot worse in this burg.

We went into this place because River Oyster was closed and we were hungry!
We got tuna tataki and shrimp/​chicken dumplings to start, and they were very good. My man had the pad tai and it wasn’t that great. I had a sushi roll and it was good.
Music was actually very interesting and nice but they had some problem with the stereo and you could hear a very annoying continuous sound the whole time.
Service was good and friendly. I will definitely try it again or even try the other restaurant they have: Moonchine, on Biscayne Blvd. I will give it 4 stars when they fix the stereo problem and we try more items.

This restaurant has great tasting sushi. It has the classics like the spider roll and ell rolls to the best one they have, the volcano roll.
The environment and décor are commendable, but it is best to sit outside if its cool and breezy.
Service was also fantastic.
However, there are some cons to the place. First, it is more pricey than other sushi restaurants in the area (they add on 17% gratuity automatically, even if you are disappointed with the service). Second, the fish in the sushi rolls are quite skimpy.

Indochine just started Happy Hour for sushi! Every day from 5 – 7 p.m., all sushi rolls are half price. (OMG!) Sadly, this does not include hand rolls, my personal favorite.
You might have to wait longer than normal. As long as your order is in before 7, you can sip on some sake and look forward to an inexpensive meal!

I try not to eat at ‘slashies’ aka Asian Fusion restaurants because they usually suffer from the lack of concentration. This one is Japanese/​Thai/​Vietnamese with a little French flair thrown in. An eatery that schizophrenic needs a dynamic kitchen staff to tightly manage all the ingredients, and preparation methods. I just don’t think they’ve got what it takes. Here’s how it went down –
Phở — $ 16.50?! Everyone knows this noodle-​soup is the breakfast staple of the Vietnamese dollar menu. Someone probably made an honest mistake and misplaced a decimal or something. No problem, the management is going to be calling me Michael Clayton after this. new price point –
$ 1.65
Spring Rolls — chewy rather than crispy.
Sake Sangria — When students in Bartending Community College are given their final exam, it’s usually some idiot-​proof cocktail, so you don’t have to fail them. So why does a swanky place like Indochine Bistro excel at making this drink suck at being a drink? Maybe Maury knows –
«I remember when I saw Indosleeze on the Maury Povich Show. She wanted a paternity test to find out who was the real father of her daughter, Sake Sangria. She was pointing out how the baby had Red Wine’s color, Sake’s light flavor, and smelled just like Triple Sec.
I couldn’t believe it… Red Wine, Sake and Triple Sec were NOT the father!
Everybody was dancing on stage, and the poor drink hung her head in shame and cried backstage.
The real father was a bottle of Señor Sangria and a can of Sprite. Mark my words, they won’t be getting the alcohol allowance again.»
Not to mention that I felt like I was in a restaurant class submarine with so many tables squished together in a narrow space. Outside? Forget it, they practically seat you on South Miami Avenue. I just hate everything they do… except for the Mango Sticky Rice dessert. It’s so good, it can’t be made in-​house.

Don’t let the sexy ambiance fool you, if you’re here for sushi… you’re better off going elsewhere.
I’m always in the area, and every time my friends and I have considered going to Indochine, its usually really late and really packed, so when I had the chance to go for an early evening sushi run… i was all in.
Since I am giving this 1 star, I will keep my review short and sweet.
The setting was romantic, sitting by the window… our conversation illuminated by the candlelight and the red lamp above our heads… we ordered a salad (greens with a peanut dressing) — and the fried soft shell crab with ponzu. Interestingly enough, it was a small crab cut up into little pieces for $ 10 dollars… so we wait for the rolls we ordered.
There were very few people there and we waited, waited, waited. We finally saw two of our 3 rolls come out, and they were at the bar… just sitting there… after about 10 minutes of seeing our rolls there we ask the waiter if those were ours, and he said yes… but he was waiting for the JB tempura roll I ordered. we asked for him to please bring us our food, which he did… maybe we should have walked out?
Out of the 3 rolls we ordered: rainbow, crazy and jb tempura roll. there was nothing that stood out… everything was one notch below mediocre. Maybe those nights they have people standing around waiting for seats they have a different chef?
We even left half of the thai donuts we ordered for dessert.
I noticed that they had a few vietnamese dishes — like Bahn Xeo which I LOVE, but I really don’t think ill be coming back for more.
BTW all rolls cost about 11 – 14 dollars each. and if you go on weekdays from 5 – 7 its happy hour with all rolls half off… a good time to come by and try it and decide for yourself if you agree with me that this restaurant is … CRAP.

From the atmosphere, to the location, and food I am a fan! The sushi here is good and fresh, they offer a wide variety of rolls. Full bar good and a good beer selection as well. I really like all the pictures they have up on the walls which change from time to time. Indochine is great and I frequent there often.

Went here on a Saturday night. There was a dj playing music which definetely awakens and prepares you for a night out. The restaurant was cute and it is close to other areas in downtown you can go after to hang out. Food was good.

The Friday night post Book Fair pan Asian meal here was perfectly normal.
We ordered steamed shrimp shumai, the kama kase roll, and the thai green curry w/​chicken. It was good.
The restaurant itself is decked out in dark wood with red globe lights and neon signs and the effect is totally too dark to even read the menu. Why do restaurants like to keep it so dark? One man asked for a flashlight and was brought the pocket keychain flashlight of another waiter.
On my visits to the restroom, I noticed they have hand sanitizer, not soap, in the soap dispenser. And patrons from Tobacco Road were entering the backdoor of Indochine and using the restroom. Interesting.
Other than these two minor flaws with the restroom, everything was perfectly normal.

Please don’t let the fact that this is a Thai restaurant turn you off to the sushi — the Thai developed the concept of sushi by trying to preserve the protien in vinegared rice.
Located on a stretch of road with very LITTLE parking and very little room inside the restaurant. The interior is somewhat dark and the colored lights really do not help due to the lack of brightness. Excited to find a restaurant with a dirth of what appeared to be good food, we ordered the following:
Vodka and Sprite
Tea
Gyoza steamed with ponzu
Wonton soup
Teriyaki beef with white rice
Spicy tuna roll
Spider roll with eel sauce
The mixed drink was strong. Many people like this, I do not. If I wanted to drink straight vodka, I would order straight vodka. If I order a mixed drink, I expect for the proportions to be correct so that I can taste something different. To Indochine: Please use the proper proportions. To anyone that disagrees: Order the damn liquor straight or on the rocks and stop deluding yourself.
Our Wonton soup and Gyoza were just standard fair. Nothing out of the ordinary that you couldn’t get at any other Asian restaurant. As they were both average, I won’t go further with their description. I won’t crave them.
When our entrees arrived I was hoping for the best. Teriyaki is different everywhere you go – think of how Spaghetti sauce is different for every American that makes it. This Teriyaki had a very odd flavor to it that I have not been able to put my finger on. The sushi rolls were mediocre, but I was happy to find a restaurant that serves Spider Rolls. It is much better to find a place to partially sate a craving than to look in vain.
This restaurant falls into that trendy-​and-​pricey-​so-​it-​must-​be-​good category. I will return if I can’t find another place that can make a Spider Roll that tastes good in Miami.

Last night I met up with another Unilocaler (Liz P.) who had recommended this restaurant since it was close to Jam @ MAM. I love to get my sushi/​sashimi on, so I was game.
The restaurant itself is quite small with some outdoor seating. The décor inside is cute with red paper lanterns line the inside walls. It goes without saying that the flat screen TV in the back of the restaurant takes center stage.
Indochine’s menu is pretty standard as far as Thai/​Sushi options go. The Thai dish prices are average, but I found the sushi roll prices to be a little more expensive than most. I ended up ordering the miso soup and the sashimi appetizer. Both were okay, but most importantly the fish tasted fresh.
I was almost tempted to give this place 2 stars just because of the service itself. Despite the small space of the restaurant our waiter was continuously MIA. However, I should have known why the service was less than decent; they add in the tip for you on your check.

i was hanging out with a friend of mine around the area and wanted to grab something to eat. it was 11:30pm so i thought about going to tobacco road for a burger. CH (my friend) is a pescatarian so when he saw that indochine was still open, he suggested it instead of the road. — fine. i eat everything. anything. im so third world.
we sat outside and got a couple of menus right away. our waitress let us know that the thai dishes are only available until midnight, then the kitchen closes but you can still order from the sushi bar. she never rushed us though, she was very polite about it. which is nice.
we got two miso soups right off the bat and an iced tea. the soup was good. i dont really know much about the varieties of miso soup but i believe they are seasonal? the flavor on this particular soup was different then the ones ive had before. good nevertheless… with a little hint of sweetness. those went down quite fast.
then i got massaman curry pork. chunks of pork topped with a thick coconut milk based curry paste with avocados, peanuts, potatoes and herbs. comes with white rice. i liked it but i should have asked for it a little bit more spicy. it was good indeed but perhaps too creamy for me and i wish it had more avocado. the portion was generous though. plenty of food to fill you up. my friend got a combination of 3 hand rolls which i did not try but looked good. he also got a coke and then we got two coffees.
service was nice and attentive. the restaurant was kinda full and they had a dj spinning some assorted electronic music, mostly house and trance. it was a little loud inside, hence we sat outside.
gratuity is automatically included on your bill. 17% i think. i dont really like that about indochine as i believe they dont really need to deduct it automatically considering their service is good. at least the few times that ive been there. so im sure customers reward that when they pay their bills. or maybe im just wrong and a lot of customers dont. who knows?
the bill came up to 59.52 $ gratuity included. not precisely cheap, especially comparing it to tobacco road but its not that pricey either.
i will come back to indochine but i cant really say im crazy about it. three solid stars seem fair to me. its great that they are open til late. downtown needs more places like this!

Being a fan of the sister restaurant, Moonchine, back when I lived closer to the design district, I decided to check out Indochine on a Saturday night.
I tried the pad thai, Marlin sushi roll, and edamame. I shared the pad thai with my boyfriend since we weren’t amazingly hungry, and it was a perfectly sized portion when split in two. Delicious.
The sushi was also very satisfying. As other reviewers have noted — it isn’t the BEST sushi out in this area, but it was tasty and filling enough.
The décor and ambiance is their best asset. Like Moonchine, it is fairly dark with red accents. Cozy and chill.
When I go to a place that serves sushi, I usually order their edamame or a bowl of sushi rice as a benchmark to how good their food really is. If they eff up either simple dish, I usually write them off. The edamame turned out to be pretty tasty, nothing spectacular. And I think that’s how I would describe Indochine overall.
If I’m in the area or I’m craving pad thai, I’ll probably think of this place first.

3 stars for the food, additional star for ambience, service, and everything else.
Nice cool place to hang out with the closest New York’s chic grungy East Village vibe for its interior, which includes a bar. It is also nice to see a place where waiters help each other out. Prices are reasonable.
