A family tradition for twenty-plus years, Cahoots never disappoints. Here we celebrate, we grieve, and we enjoy epic meals, friendly service, and s comfortable atmosphere.

Can’t believe it’s taken me a year and half to get here. Don’t be fooled by the outside, this is NOT a dive bar. This is an American saloon at its finest. Awesome wooden bar in front stocked with draft beers and plenty of talented bartenders for your mixed drinks. The food is easy going classy. It’s not by any means cheap or fast food. I had the king cut prime rib. It was perfect. Rare inside, not overly salted. Could really taste the prime meat. My fiancé had a bacon Swiss burger. Perfectly crisped bacon on a thick burger. Every bring was delicious and very reasonably priced. Can’t wait to go back here.

Grosse! Had worms crawling out of the free peanuts! Like– over 20! When my friends informed staff they laughed and said they would get it later. Later!!! Uhh — no. Anyone could have gone for some after we left and no one would have said anything. The lack of concern was enough to put a bad taste in my mouth– no pun intended!!! Don’t go!

Great little neighborhood place. Just a little expensive and needs a little bit of a makeover… mostly more light.

Cahoots is a neighborhood pub known for their steaks and burgers. They have achieved this reputation by serving higher quality beef than many other places. They have a large bar with an exceptional bartender. I took my family there on the Thursday night before the Independence Day weekend. It was a very short wait for a table. We were all in the mood for a nice cheese burger. The nice thing about burgers here is that you can choose their high quality beef or upgrade to Kobe and you can watch them being grilled over their flaming hot grill behind the bar. We ordered one burger rare, one medium and one medium rare. All three of them came out well done. The service sucked and our waitress never asked us how our meals were. I am giving up on this place until they get decent wait staff and a damned meat thermometer.

I feel like the ones who leave great reviews about this place are the people who stay in Middlesex and never leave. This is an okay joint. There’s no word in my vocabulary other than«blah» when describing the atmosphere. The food is okay, I don’t know why people keep raving about it. I think the only thing they’ve got going for them is the French onion soup. Other than that, it’s just another dumpy bar that houses all the middle aged to retirement age adults that were born, grew up, never left this area and talk about nothing but their PTO duties and how their kid Timmy is trying out for the pop warner football team. Meh.

Great place, casual bar, very good service, friendly bartender and probably the best prime rib dinner under $ 30 you will ever have. Shrimp and egg on the salad is a must. Very consistent.

One of my favorite local places… great fresh food at a good price. I LOVE their shrimp and egg salad. Seriously, it’s really good and fresh. King crab legs are great and my boyfriend loves the ribeye. Drinks are not skimped… the Middlesex coffee is one of my favorite ‘specialty’ drinks. I’m thankful that this place is here b/c there really isn’t any spots in town where you can get a meal that tastes like it is almost home cooked.

One of my favorite places for lunch. Dinner is just as tasty but the specials are way more expensive for the same thing as lunch. You have to have their soup. They have 2 every day, and they are ALWAYS great. Great seafood, as are the burgers. Family friendly and wait staff is always super friendly as well. Really a great local-style place to eat.

Been coming here for years but I’ve noticed a sharp drop in food quality. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Thursday. She ordered the Beef Goulash and I had the Philly Cheese Steak.(Same Daily Specials) As I looked towards the grill I saw the cook take out a piece of steak, smell it, look at it and then throw it on the grill!(Not a good sign) Our drinks were«Arnold Palmer» and came rather quickly. I skipped on the salad because I had diarrhea the last 2 times I had one. The Pea Soup with croutons was not too bad. Our meals showed up and I examined the steak and it looked and tasted ok although a bit chewy. The Goulash was good but not great and only came with rye bread. I looked around for our server she was nowhere to be seen. We wanted to order more drinks but I guess she was outside smoking or doing what ever. After we finished she reappeared and handed us the check. Didn’t ask if we wanted anything else or how our meals were. Upon leaving one of the«locals» heard us discussing our«disappearing server» and he stood up and said«Oh, that’s 1 drink Judy! You get one drink and forget about refills». I know the owner Dave has been in ill heath for a few years and it seems this place has also suffered. My brother came here with a friend and said that the fish they ordered you could smell a mile away! Not sure if we’ll be back. Also there was a sewage smell coming from the rear kitchen area. Rumor has it that NJ Transit may be purchasing this place to make room for a new Middlesex/Piscataway train station.

Great restaurant. Steak sandwich is perfect. Soft and not chewy. Add the onions and you have a great sandwich. Th ribs are the best round. The sauce is scrumptious. The salad with egg and shrimp is outstanding. Don’t be up off by the bar atmosphere. It adds to the experience.

A decent local bar and grill. My wife and I stopped in tonight. It was OK but we were not impressed. Except for the free peanuts at the bar — I grabbed a big handful on the way out. Seemed to us that about half the menu was seafood, so we went with mussels marinara to start; my wife had the stuffed lobster; I ordered the broiled flounder. Nothing was bad but nothing was all that great either. First — they cooked the mussels in a steam basket — so all the liquid went out the bottom — then they served the mussels in a bowl with sauce added at the end. The mussels seemed dry and the sauce was below par. I make better mussels at home. Next — the lobster was good, just a little overcooked but the stuffing was ridiculous — a soggy combo of bread and onion and a little seasoning — just stupid. My broiled flounder was OK and a good portion. Sides — good fries and a very nice baked potato. The house salad is Ok but very different — nicely done greens with chopped egg and mini shrimp — but the tiny shrimp were not appetizing. The place was busy so it works well for the local, mostly older crowd. Service was fast enough. The waitresses were a bit harried but got the job done. No background music. i did not notice any flat screens. We will stop by again and try the other half of the menu — and grab a lot more peanuts. Several beers on tap — I had a Bass, my wife went with a Yuengling.

This is the perfect mix between neighborhood dive and pretty damn good steakhouse. Great hand cut steaks, huge burgers, and a nice raw bar give you an experience that you definitely wouldn’t expect upon looking at the place from the outside. All carried off with culinary skill and care. Worth it.

Great place to kick back and have a relaxing dinner or a couple of drinks. No blasting juke-box and no obnoxious«jersey shore» fist-pumpers at this place… just your average neighborhood bar. Everyone’s friendly, the beer is cold and the food is good.

Very chill neighborhood bar which caters to an older crowd. Pretty good service and tasty food. They do tend to close fairly early.
