Just drop off my 96 Cummins… Nick was very helpful and gave cheaper estimate by half then Sh*tty OC diesel. Very professional and 10x faster than OC Diesel.

Best garage in socal time and time again they have saved my a$$ I never write reviews well hardly ever. They have great service and a really nice waiting area. If you have a powerstroke ford you already know not every diesel mechanic knows how to diagnose or repair these trucks well not only do they know how but they are very good at it. They don’t Mickey mouse around every time they have worked on our truck it’s done before I expected. I wish I didn’t have to move because you don’t find a diesel mechanic like this everywhere.

Good service, they knew exactly what was wrong when I called on the phone and described the issue. I’d give 5 stars, but when I dropped the truck off they said… 6 or 7 hundred. When they called the next morning it was going to be 8 hundred and when the job was done it was 9 hundred with no change to work being done as what I was quoted with when I dropped it off. So be cautious with the first quote and final price it moved up a few hundred. Also it was reported that my front brakes were at 10% when I can see when I looked that the pads are much better than that.
However… they get four stars because they did the job in a day, upgraded my truck so I don’t expect future issues with this and were helpful. The process to drop off and pick up the truck was easy and I’ll return to their shop.

Bought a «new» Excursion for the Wife and I wanted to have it checked out and make sure it is good to go. I looked around on the Internet for a local diesel shop, because I didn’t just want anyone working on this Beast of a car. So I found a few people on forums recommending Buds in Orange County. I called and spoke with Nick and he was very professional and told me they can do an inspection for me and get me set up. I came by in the morning they immediately took my car in the back and started working on it.
Update: my Excursion broke down on my wife while she was exiting the freeway. We had it towed to another local shop and the next day they told me it was fine and had nothing wrong with it. So we picked it up and drove it around. No issues. Until we drove it on the 22 freeway. And it almost broke down on us again. Apparently it wasn’t alright. So instead of taking it to the original shop i told my wife we are going to Buds. They had the Excursion for about a week and they told me that they had never seen something like this before because it would only have an issue on a certain part of the freeway. BUT, they said they would fix it and not to worry. So I didn’t worry and they fixed it. Thank you to Nick and Bud! You guys are very professional and I will be coming back to you guys, but hopefully not for a long time. Lol.

My transmission went out in my 2007 Dodge 2500 while I was out in California and after a lot of research I decided to try these guys out. Called them up and spoke with Nick about my issues. He recommended a RevMax transmission. This had to be ordered in from North Carolina. It took about 2 weeks to get it into their shop. Once they received it in they installed it immediately. With the RevMax there is a relearn process that had to be followed in order to get warranty coverage. This process takes some time. I kept calling Nick and he wouldn’t release it to me until it was perfect. When I got the truck back I immediately had to drive to Texas. The transmission performed flawlessly! I really appreciate the work that the guys at Bud’s Diesel did for me and recommend that if you need your diesel worked on and are in the area take it to them.

I took my 2007 GMC Sierra LBZ to Buds for an issue with my Banks tuner and iQ. Nick greeted me as I was walking up to the office asked how he could help and had the problem fixed in 10 minutes. They’ve got my business, a shop that knows what they’re doing.

Finally, another auto mechanic I can trust! Recently bought a used Diesel and, of course, it’s now got Chronic Dieselitis. Could live with most of it’s little quarks, but the No-​Hot-​Start I couldn’t live with. Embarrassing to be a gas station and not be able to move on for 30 mins until the engine cooled down.
So anyway, my regular gas mechanic doesn’t know anything about diesels so I had to find a new one. I’m like NOOOOOO!!! Not another search for a mechanic who might totally rip me off to repair the truck!!!

I have to admit, I was skeptical at first when I brought my truck in. They were «too nice» I was hoping they didn’t think I was rich!
They had my truck for over a week and kept telling me they needed to «check something else» and it might be ready «tomorrow». Now, I was really feeling nervous as I thought this repair was going to cost me more than what I paid for the truck!
In the end, they could have charged me for a lot more than they did as they wen’t over every little detail of what they did to zero in on the problem and fix it (and didn’t charge me for a lot of it). The problem was ultimately being caused by a lot of little problems that all led up to one big problem.
My truck now runs like it is new and to make me even more comfortable, they have a 24 month guarantee (through some third party insurance) so if any of these same problems creep up again within 2 years, it’s covered!
Oh, and that part about being «too nice». That’s just them. Nice people who want to earn an HONEST living and fix Diesel trucks. Shop is managed by Bud himself and a team of mechanics to back him up. Nick runs the front desk and is most likely the first person you will meet when you go in.

I took my 2004 f250 with 6.0 to buds when my high pressure oil decided to quit. They replaced the pump with one from sinister and I decided to do a BulletProof Diesel EGR cooler, and the engine oil cooler at the same time.
Long story short — truck is running better than it has in years. The folks at Bud’s were fair and straight forward — I dealt mainly with Nick. The quality of the works seems great, my truck was done on time, and the price quote was spot on.
I’ve been looking for a local alternative to the Ford dealer for years. I’m stoked Bud’s is close by, I’ll definitely be back.

Well they did it again, i’ve actually waited a couple weeks to post on Unilocal just to ensure my truck is running correctly and back to normal.
Well it is and my experience taking my truck to Bud’s diesel has been nothing but amazing. They worked on my truck a year or so ago and did a great job so I was compelled to take it back when the turbo on my ’06 Ford 350 started giving me trouble. The point is not so much I had truck problems but how exceptionally well I was treated and the great job which was done by the boys at Bud’s Diesel Repair Shop, shout out to James.
I can honestly recommend Buds at this point They were awesome figuring out what was wrong. Those guys know what they’re doing and the customer service is actually really, really good. The cost is appropriate if not actually better then the other local shops and the service they do in my experience is phenomenal. Anyway, when I run across a place like this, it’s nice to «yelp it» because I’m sure there’s someone else out there on the fence of where to go for their diesel truck or car. Take it to «Bud’s»

I’d like to give these guys 0 stars.
This shop is no longer the same as it was while it was in Mission Viejo.
Shop is extremely dirty now and is in a super shady part of town. I would never leave my vehicle here overnight, I’d think my wheels would be missing come the morning or the entire truck! Had I known all this before hand I never would’ve scheduled an appointment or considered them even though they had previously worked on my vehicle.
Appointment was scheduled out a week in advance and after dropping the truck off they did not even look at it the entire day. What’s the point of scheduling an appointment if you’re not even going to bother looking at the truck!!! Never once got a call to tell me status of the repairs! Once I found out, after _​I_​initiated a call, that they hadn’t looked at the truck by 5pm I told them not to touch it and I was going to pick it up. If they can’t be bothered to look at the truck after having it all day they don’t deserve my money nor do I trust them for the repairs. For $ 130/​hr, which is more than any dealers around me charge having called them to get an estimate for repairs after this, you’d think you’d have a better experience from a small shop like Bud’s. NOPE
I don’t know what’s happened to this shop but avoid at this point, the shop is not clean like it was in MV and there’s too many other great shops available in _​actual_​south county that won’t dick you around and you’ll feel safe in the area.
If I’m paying to be screwed I’d at least like to see some results not time wasted. Also stop adding people to your mailing and email list without consent!!!

They’ve always treated me right and done good work. Be sure to tell them you’re a AAA member, if so, since they’ll give you a discount. They’ve maintained my 2000 F250 Super Duty 7.3L DIT, and they’re currently maintaining my 2006 Dodge Sprinter Van with the in-​line 5-​cylinder Mercedes-​Benz diesel motor. I’ve had them do brakes, suspension, rear axle, front axle, air conditioning, radiator flushes, transmission service, 4 wheel drive hub repair, check engine lights, routine fluid maintenance, and an entire front end rebuild. So far, every visit has been great. They also have a quick lube shop on Beach Blvd. in Huntington beach.

Passed this place on a Saturday and Andre was super friendly. Price was great and his customer service was awesome. Highly recommend visiting Bud’s as opposed to those other big chains!

Let me just say, I know Bud from back at the dealership days when we used to bring our truck to him. If anyone can fix them it’s him and his team. Our A-​C stopped working and that’s «no bueno» in S Cali. They got it fixed in a day! Bud has always took GREAT care of us. Thank you guys!

I have been doing business with Bud for years and I have never had any problems that Bud didn’t take care of. This company takes care of you after the service has been completed. My wife and I are in the middle of buying a house and if you have done that before you know that you can’t touch credit cards or even run your credit. I was then informed by my realtor that I can’t have any big purchases out of my bank account and that is a huge problem when you have problems with your truck. The real story. My family was in my truck while pulling my 5^th wheel on a camping trip when the check engine light turned on and I noticed that my coolant temp was fine but my oil temp was thru the roof. If you own a 6.0 you know that is very bad. After we made it home I called buds and Malcolm answered telling me to bring it in so they can make sure what the real problem is but before he hung up Bud grabbed the phone and reassured me he would help take care of me. When I arrived at the shop everyone at his new facility was so helpful and did all they could to make it a quick diagnoses and of course it was the oil cooler. Bud walked out greeting me like a old friend and introduced me to Nick (the money guy). He informed me of cheap ways to fix it and then informed me of the correct way to handle my issues. Bud heard me telling one of the guys my dilemma with the mortgage and well I don’t want to tell to much about that but after he told me what he was willing to do for me I realized that if my house stuff falls apart that it is all me and definitely not because of Buds diesel. I hear stories of Pay It Forward but they never happen to me or my wife until today. If you are in need of a diesel mechanic that looks at more than what he or she can get out of you then get on your phone or jump in your truck and get Nick or Malcolm at Buds Diesel involved. This is by far the most family oriented diesel shop around.

I have a fleet of diesel trucks, and in my over 30 years in business, I have finally found the most qualified shop to care for my trucks. After my first service on one of my trucks, I noticed that it was riding better than it had in a very long time! It ran smoother and I knew my truck was happy (which makes me very happy to have a reliable company vehicle for my employees). I’ve noticed that Bud’s Diesel Shop does business much like me, which makes me very confident and comfortable to work with them. They are very thorough and use very good quality parts/​products and it really makes a difference.

Bud’s went above and beyond to help remedy our situation. I am so glad we finally found a mechanic that is unquestionably honest and I have full confidence in recommending him and his mechanics as the best and most trustworthy I have ever met in my 25 car history!

Awesome shop new location! I took my f250 to buds to have a safety inspection done. I also had them install a new set of shock absorbers. Very professional and courteous, and they really know their trucks. I will recommend bud’s to all my friends as the go to place.
Don’t forget to check out their Express Lube shop that is just down the street on Beach.

After a 9 hour drive, our poor diesel truck began having issues. Hubby went to the old shop and bumped into the owner as they were moving locations. Bud looked at the truck, and fixed it right there and then! Bud is a true diesel expert, and put our family’s mind at ease about getting home. Bud, Lori, and their Crew are so friendly and helpful. We had another truck issue Christmas Eve, and Bud’s Diesel Shop saved us again. Wish we lived closer, as they would be our go-​to shop, but in the meantime, when we’re visiting So Cal, this is THE place to go!

My husband searched for a shop that specialized in Diesel trucks. He found Bud’s here on Unilocal and the reviews led him to give them a try. We were so happy with their service. They are a knowledgeable, professional, honest shop! They quoted a price and it was right on the money. They take pride in their work and their customer service was above and beyond.
