Caletti Jungsten Contruction

My experience has been with John Caletti when he was an independent contractor. He built a roof terrace on my house and took many shortcuts, some of which we caught and averted before it was too late. But we didn’t catch everything, and among the items not caught was defective flashing. We are now having to rebuild the roof terrace owing to rot and leaks.

We decided to remodel two of our bathrooms, our master bedroom and make a few other changes. After interviewing several top end contractors, our choice was simple, Caletti Jungsten Construction. They were far more complete in their analysis of our needs, worked very well with our Architect in helping create more of what we wanted as opposed to what she wanted. Jeff was really patient and helped us choose many «Green» alternatives, which we really appreciate more now that the project is complete. Project stayed on schedule and budget, an A+ experience. The house is beautiful and our Guests compliment the work.

When I purchased my home in 2000, I was so excited to get a «Dream House» built by John Caletti and his excellent team. It had been a «spec» project by an out of state investor, and although there were a few glitches, John personally worked out everything with me. A couple of years ago when I needed a few repairs and updates, CJC’s new «small projects» division took care of everything in a prompt, courteous, professional way. I have worked with other contractors in Marin who were a nightmare to deal with. CJC is wonderful and I would not hesitate to have them build a home for me.

There are plenty of good general contractors in Marin — try one of them instead. Caletti Jungsten Construction was the general contractor for a remodel of our house for a previous owner, so we contacted Jeff Jungsten who was more than happy to talk to us when we were thinking about doing some additional work. However, we then discovered a problem that had been made during the remodel and all we asked Mr. Jungsten to do was to work with us to help resolve the problem. (Mind you, this was not an earth-​shaking problem — there was a problem with the installation of an appliance. Not that hard to discuss, right??) Well, all of a sudden there was no more Mr. Nice Guy — apparently we no longer represented a quick, easy big bucks job! He told us not to communicate with him any further, which we thought was pretty unprofessional. We had hoped that Caletti Jungsten would stand behind their work (even if only to get more work out of us) but unfortunately they won’t talk to us, period.
I don’t think it is asking too much for a contractor to not only do good work, but to at least try to work with you to resolve a problem with the work if need be. I wish you better luck than what we had with this contractor.
