Best Western Plus Brookside Inn

I love staying here when I’m in town. Christin is the best .if I could give this place a 10 star it is. The food is excellent and so is the Bartender Jamie. Can’t wait to see all of you Soon.

It’s just an okay somewhat dingy hotel.
The breakfast was great as was the lady that maintained the dining area.
The first room we got reeked of smoke but the desk staff helped us to get another room.
The rooms are nice looking but very stuffy with poor ventilation. If you open a window you have to hear the loud noise and constant traffic from Calaveras and interstate 880.
The a/​c is loud.
We did not get a good night of rest here

Eh… kind of what you would expect. Smelly rooms (musty) with hot, stale air. The walls are very thin and you can hear the room next to you and the ac is loud and underpowered. Oh, and also expect to not get the king-​size bed that you reserved and confirmed. And for sure don’t expect the wifi to be usable.

I truly appreciate the entire staff, especially Lynn and Susan at the front desk. Lynn and Susan are always very accommodating, welcoming smile, very professional and customer service oriented.
Because I’m a light sleeper I prefer the second floor facing the street away from the freeway. I sometimes like to keep my door open at night since I prefer fresh air and I can step out onto the balcony, sit, have a cocktail and just relax. The beds and pillows are so comfortable, you also get a small fridge, coffee pot, there is a swimming pool, hairdryer and no problem parking.
In the hotel lounge you will receive a complimentary hot breakfast buffet, that is, Starbucks variety coffee, assorted juices, baked goods, request to make you an omelette, make your own waffles, cereals, fruit. I’m telling you, a fantastic breakfast from 7 – 10:30 am. Maria and Francisco who staff the hotel lounge are very pleasant and hospitable.
What I am saying is that this is a great hideaway and a gold mind. If you want peace and quiet come here and spend the night. Yes, it’s true this is an older building and they don’t have an elevator at this time.
Best Western has been going through a renovation process and hopefully in the near future an elevator will be installed, I hope. They do have a ramp for the handicap to stay on the first floor. This hotel is clean because all staff members work as a TEAM and CUSTOMER SERVICE oriented. I appreciate everyone of them.
You are very close to the freeways, grocery stores, walgreens, banks, cinemark theater, great mall, restaurants, post office, Kinkos/​FedEx, etc.
If there is a problem in the room obviously you call the front desk and ask for assistance, right.

This is an older hotel but very clean and beautiful. I stayed in nonsmoking room and there was no smell of cigarettes.
Happy hour from 5−8pm free beer, wine, chips and salad! Free full breakfast as well.

I had a great week here. Great place for the price in Silicon Valley. Staff were friendly, breakfast was very good, and rooms were very nice. I slept like a rock.

If you want employees to steal your personal information you should stay here! If you want drunk bartenders who work here to ask to stay in your room, stay here! If you want a new stalker, this is the place! Although, they do give free beer, so I guess that makes it ok. Rude staff & rude manager.

I am actually staying here right now and just had to write a review. The room is clean and nice with a balcony to relax or work on. The bed is comfortable and the FREE happy hour is amazing! Tonight it was a delicious homemade taco bar, cheese and veggies, and fresh guacamole, salsa, and chips… topped off with complimentary wine or beer! Honestly it was a pleasant surprise with some of the friendliest staff I have encountered. I stayed in another Best Western during another work trip and almost canceled this stay because of how bad that one was and I am so glad I didn’t!

This should not be rated a PLUS location! The rooms are decently furnished but not very clean. The carpet in the lobby and on the 2^nd floor is very dirty… the hallway reeked like old smoke and skunk. The downstairs lounge gets loud and the thumping of the bass can be heard in the upstairs rooms.
I did not eat breakfast at the hotel — to be honest I didn’t trust the food preparation after seeing the lack of housekeeping and layers of dust and grime throughout the building. The fitness center is completely sub par. A broken elliptical, one bike, and a weight machine.
The only reason this place gets two stars instead of one is because the service was very friendly. I booked this place through Priceline and could not cancel my reservation otherwise I would have switched hotels immediately.

Knocked off stars for poor wifi and noise. Walls are thin and if you have someone with kids in a unit above yours you’ll hear them running around all night.
Tip: get a upper floor unit facing away from the freeway for peace and quiet.

Really hard to find a parking spot at night due to an indian restaurant happy hour in the hotel. Smells kind of bad. The breakfast was good. Soft beds.

I stayed here for 6 days as I was getting settled into the Mountain View area for a new job, and I do not recommend anybody stay here unless you are simply passing through. The hotel is clean, the free breakfast is pretty good, and the location near major freeways is convenient. However, there are many negatives:
First off, the wi-​fi is slow and unreliable.
Second, the sound insulation between rooms is… well…there is none. You can hear people moving around in the room above you. In my case, you can also hear them doing other things… quite loudly.
Third, our door handle fell off the first time we tried to leave the room. We had to call the front desk to let us out! It got fixed quickly, but still, nothing worse that literally not being able yo get out of your own room.
Fourth, the parking is horrible. There is clearly not enough parking for every guest. On a Saturday night, if the restaurant in the hotel is busy, you will not find any parking in the hotel’s parking lot. Paying guests returning at night are forced to park on dark side-​streets. The area around the hotel isn’t unsafe or bad in any way, but it’s also not the nicest area in Milpitas/​San Jose. Be careful.
Lastly, the staff that work there, especially the maids, are loud amongst themselves. Our room was near the lobby, and around 10am one morning the person behind the front desk was having a loud conversation with a cleaning lady who was in one of the rooms nearby. That’s not very professional.
I’ve stayed at better Best Westerns before, and this place is a let down. It’s good if you’re just staying overnight, but for an extended stay, I’d look elsewhere first.

Really enjoyed my stay here. King bed on the 2^nd floor. Close to everything! Freeways, restaurant, gas, tech companies, etc. We only ate breakfast there once, since Google fed us free food the rest of the days. Anyways, breakfast was at the Indian restaurant located on the premises, which made me feel good knowing a real kitchen cooked my meal. They had everything, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, cereal, breads, French toast, waffles, etc. Something for everyone. The front desk staff was nice, gave us a good room. Plenty of free parking. Comfy beds, clean room.
Only thing is there is no elevator, so makes it hard to drag luggage upstairs. Otherwise, a great, comfy, reasonably priced place to stay!

My husband and I stayed here for a week and were less than impressed. I usually don’t complain about hotels or anything really. Usually my Unilocal reviews are for places that I like, but I would recommend another similarly priced 3 star hotel in this area.
Here are the positives:
— Comfy king bed for those who like a soft bed
— Free breakfast buffet with many choices
— Wi-​fi was very accessible
— Pantene hair products
— Although we were close to the freeway, the windows were well insulated against noise.
And now the negatives:
— Funky smelling room on the dirty side
— We got a few stained linens and towels
— VERY loud A/​C/​heater
— If you stay on the second floor, be prepared to walk your luggage up a flight of stairs (not that big of a deal)
— Loud doors on every room that slam shut with a loud bang (and can wake a person)
— Housekeeping opened our door at around 8 am instead of knocking, then closed the door, waited 10 minutes and called to ask us if we wanted our room cleaned.
— If you weren’t out of your room by the time that they did rounds to clean rooms (usually 10 am weekday or weekend), they assume that you don’t want your room cleaned.
— If you told them that you would like new towels and/​or toiletries after not having the room cleaned, they acted like it was a huge deal and please come down to the front desk to pick those up.

A great hotel to stay in! Despite the proximity to the freeway our room was quiet and well insulated from our neighbors.
We got a room with a King bed instead of two queens. The King bed was VERY comfortable, as were the pillows. No problems sleeping here. Free FAST Wi-​Fi as well.
The breakfast was large and buffet style. Cost was reasonable for the amenities provided. Close to shopping, good restaurants and more.
Definitely recommended!

This is a sketchy hotel. There are layers of dust and grime on the tables and furniture. Eeew.
The front desk people aren’t welcoming at all, especially Susan. Aside from her lack of English speaking skills, she is rude and unaccommodating – exactly what you DON’T want from hospitality management.
The people working the breakfast area were OK, but they were helping themselves to the food, drinking the coffee, and eating the pastries while we were getting our breakfast. Ummm, maybe you should eat your breakfast before work? Or maybe you should eat elsewhere (ahem, NOT in front of the guests and NOT where the guests are getting their food)? The actual area where they serve food is a bit small, so with the hotel guests and the workers eating in that area, it was not a welcoming atmosphere. The french toast was the best thing they had.
I will not return – ever.

I didn’t really expect much from this place after reading other reviews online. Had a great deal from priceline so no room for complaining here.
My husband and I stayed here during my sister’s wedding.
The room we had was actually pretty decent except for the funky smell that lasted for the first 5 seconds every time we entered.
I would recommend elsewhere.

Needing a hotel for one night after a very late flight from Boston, I used Hotwire to locate a place in Milpitas. We ended up getting a good deal at this Best Western. This two-​story hotel has no elevators, so we had to walk our luggage up one flight. Not so terrible.
The room was clean, had Pantene hair products, a microwave, fridge, and decent-​sized TV, as well as a firm mattress with pillow top. The bed was high off the ground, and since I’m 5’2″, I could have used a foot stool. The sheets seemed clean but I like the smell of chlorine and couldn’t detect any. WiFi in the room was a bonus, as was the private balcony.
The shower head was very sensitive, so a slight turn of the handle to make the water warmer almost resulted in a scalding.
The stay included a free continental breakfast, with scrambled eggs, sausages, some donuts and pastries, cereal and coffee. Eh. We didn’t partake.
I prefer some of the other hotels we have stayed at in Milpitas, but this place was worth 2.5 to 3 stars even though it was by a major highway. Not sure I’d stay here for more than a night, but it was perfect for a late arrival and early departure.

Three stars is not negative. It just means as expected.
We needed a place to stay somewhere in this area and went to Hotwire. Best Western showed up as an unnamed hotel, three stars for $ 79 a night and we have had good luck with those offers in the past so I bit. When the booking was complete I read the reviews on Unilocal and was dismayed.
Do not believe them. It is a three star hotel. Service was excellent, the room nice and comfortable. Breakfast was good. There was nothing exceptional that might have warranted an extra star but nothing to complain about either.

Where to start… check in. After parking the rental (which strangely, doesn’t fit in ANY of the parking spots), I head past the overflowing trash can into the lobby, and tell the clerk I have a reservation. Her response is «paying cash?»…that should’ve been a clue. The next bad sign was the murky water in the fountain in the hall, and the beer can sitting next to it.
Throughout the night (from 9pm till ~1:30am when I finally called the desk) the room next to us was stomping around, and on a couple occasions it sounded like a body hitting the floor. In between these, someone in the room next to us kept attempting to open the connecting doors. Despite the rooms being practically RIGHT over the office/​desk, it took me calling for anything to get done.
On to cleanliness; bathroom and bed WERE actually clean; there were dead flies on the nightstand and the floor near it though.
After finally getting back to sleep around 2am, I’m woken up to the alarm clock at 5am, on full volume playing static, which I’m sure was a thoughtful gift from the last visitor. Too bad no one bothers checking that when they make up the room.
The final injustice was the continental breakfast. Granted, the selection was pretty wide, including eggs, toast, coffee, and juices. However, the orange juice (my first stop) tasted pretty stale/​headed toward fermenting, so I skipped the rest (if they can’t manage the OJ, no way I’m trusting eggs or meat) and went to Denny’s around the corner instead (awful also, which is a first). The morning staff was marginally friendlier than the night before.
AAA also rates this as three stars; it makes me wonder the last time they checked on it. I should’ve just spent the extra $ 15, driven a little further, and stayed elsewhere.
