San Jose Christian Assembly has become my home, my family.
I found it by coinsidece/​totally God’s leading back as a freshmen in SJSU. I saw the little blue table out in the corner and I was curious to see what that club was about. The rest was history.
Now a senior in college, I can’t say I had the smoothest college career. I struggled a lot with my identity and self worth in this world. But this is what this amazing church has taught me.
I am a child of God who is worth more than anything of this world.
This church helped me to see how amazing God, His love and His family is. I am now able to see how much God has blessed me and the love He has given to me, directly and through the church family.
He gave me wonderful pastors, Alice and Jason, who care so much for the church and it is clear that they geatly desire to build God’s kingdom and watch His children grow. Alice particularly has reached out to me and has been with me through it all. When I look back I cringe at all the bratty things I had said in the past, yet she continued to guide me though it all. While Jason is always there always watching out for the group, guiding the guys, and making lame jokes. (I’m just kidding Jason your jokes are very funny)
Under their guidence they have raised such a great group of college/​young adults, my brothers and sister. I know that if there is anything I need help with they would be there. I know that I can lean on them and count on them. They fill my life with laughter and joy. I rejoice when in the body of Christ. In SJCA, I have finally found a home. Praise God.

Where do I begin?
To me, it’s not necessarily about attending church, it’s about the kind of people you meet in the process.
My brother Peter L., introduced me to pastor Alice and pastor Jason. They are a married couple who, if I’m not mistaken, own the church. My first impression of them were that they were kind and loving people and ’til this day it stills hold truth.
In 2013, I was going through a very difficult time in my life and they welcomed me into their home without hesitation. Their patience and willingness to hear me out whether it was to complain about the burdens I carry or my achievements in my life despite their busy schedules shows to me how genuine they are as individuals. Living in such a fast paced world that constantly keeps moving, we tend to forget sometimes to take the time just to pause and breathe.
There is quite a lot about Alice and Jason that I can vouch for when I mean what I say: COMPELLING AND HUMBLE INDIVIDUALS. Forget celebrities, they are more than that. I can’t thank them enough for all they have provided in terms of their knowledge, experiences and just being mindful of not to impose their own beliefs and opinions too strong. They are THAT genuine, real, and amazing to me. They have taught me so much that I can honestly call them my second parents, or simply just family. They contribute a ton to the community, family, friends, loved ones, and even those they have just met. For instance, myself.
Why is this post solely about Alice and Jason? Because they have shown that not every church is the same and that I just have to find my right fit that I feel is best to me with my own beliefs and comfort.
They had never once pressured me to become Christian and welcome me to come to Friday night bible study and Sunday sermon. Everyone I have met there are also very friendly and welcoming. Everyone has their own beliefs, but for the most part, I have experienced firsthand that everyone there is mindful of your own beliefs.
I have befriended wonderful people there through my brother Peter L., Alice & Jason such as Bethany O., Jeiji B., Demi C., and many more others who are fun, welcoming, and have been there for me through many of my life events.
San Jose State University also offers a club on the campus for students and non-​students are welcomed. I don’t go to SJCA every week or even as often, but let me be honest, it doesn’t even cross my mind half the time… Regardless of my reasons, no matter how long I’ve been gone, when I return, it’s as if I’ve never left.
I used to to fear churches, I will admit that. In my opinion and from my own experience, we should try our best to not judge based on what society tells us, but rather see or learn for ourselves. There’s nothing wrong with being correct, but there’s nothing wrong with make a poor judgment either, just take that with a grain of salt (note to self lol).

San Jose Christian Assembly is a very good church. I have been since I was born.
In the front there is a hill, where we can play, and many rooms. On Sundays, Fridays, and Saturdays there are services. Food is provided when appropriate. People here usually speak Chinese, so you would want to learn that language.
I go to the Kid’s Church, where kids go. We have worship, and classes. The teacher has subjects for us to learn.
Everybody here are mostly nice, you can make friends quickly. There is worship, and separate groups. There are also many people who come to speak. Enjoy!
