THE prime example of what a local non-profit can do with an extremely-modest budget, a lot of elbow grease, and a staff completely-invested in it’s mission: To provide youth in the Milwaukee area with arts enrichment programs to enhance human potential, advance learning and cultivate community. At its core is a summer Truck Studio. Essentially, an artist(driver) with a van full of art supplies. They park it in one of a handful of city parks, and invite all interested neighborhood kids to participate in the development of a variety of projects. Inspiring to watch. Even more fun to participate! Don’t overlook AWE, when you(or your employer) are feeling philanthropic, or have a few dollars to donate. Take a half-day and join them in Washington(or another) Park. GREAT people doing GREAT things for children in our community. I love these guys.
