BEST WESTERN PLUS The Normandy Inn & Suites

We reached this resort and simply incredible! lobby and Entrance had been truly gorgeous and properly adorned for Xmas. We examined in okay and visited our space and experienced a bit dissatisfied. It lacked the splendour of the lobby and a bit of a let down, even though the room was clean and everything was there. Whenever we received back again I visited make use of the restroom there was drinking water leaking from your roof in 2 location. I known as the front side workdesk plus they relocated our space without any problems whatsoever.

The best stay at a hotel for me! I was here for the Vikings/​Seahawks playoff game a week ago and was blown away by the friendliness of the staff. They were all very professional and helpful. My car did not start in the morning as temperatures plummeted to –10 Fahrenheit. One worker was so kindly to help charge my car with the personal jump-​starter. All he was in was a suit-​no jacket and he was out there helping me. After that did not work, I had several employees asking if there was any progress to my problem. Very helpful staff!

I found a bedbug in my bed here. check the picture, I wish I was kidding. don’t go here, splurge on a nicer hotel without bedbugs.

We’ve stayed downtown in Minneapolis many times over the years, but the prices have risen above our comfort level recently. this time we booked at the Best Western Normandy and were very pleased with the experience. We had a nice room with a fireplace in the older part of the hotel. We ate at the restaurant on the ground floor. The staff was friendly and helpful. One evening we took a boat ride on the Mississippi, and when the taxi company couldn’t seem to find us afterwards the hotel sent their shuttle tp pick us up. That was above and beyond expectations. We’ll stay at the Best Western Normandy as long as it’s around!

Great location, and friendly staff especially Ricardo, he offered to help us numerous times, he was so friendly! We loved the rooms and big beds, rooms were clean and large. I’m so glad we stayed here when visiting Minneapolis.

Sadly, I had to stay at this Best Western location because my father was transported to the hospital a few blocks away from this hotel. The 1^st time I stayed, I basically lived there (a long with my brother and mother in neighboring rooms) for 10 days. Knowing my situation, the staff was beyond helpful. With the clean rooms, free shuttle service, friendly staff, cookies and milk at 10 pm, relaxing sauna/​pool and on site bar/​restaurant — it made our stay care free and helpful due to our circumstances. The staff offered directions and other locations to eat a meal, gave us free parking and even a (standard) discount for family members that have a loved one at Hennepin Memorial. The restaurant/​bar has a great menu and the servers/​cook made substitutions for us since we were there just about every night. Great evening bar tender (Nicole) made our evenings with her up beat attitude and caring demeanor. My 2^nd stay was just passing through, but we purposely chose this hotel… and again our stay was beyond expectations. The staff remembered us four months later and took care of all of our needs. I cannot say enough how nice it is to know there is such a place that you can count on for repeated professional and courtesy service. Thank you Best Western Normandy Inn staff!

Pros:
–Cookies and milk in the lobby every night at 10.
–The pool and jacuzzi are located within a big, sunny, relaxing, indoor portion of the building.
–Front desk was generally very friendly and quick to help.
–Bed was comfy and the room was in great shape.
–In contrast to other Unilocalers, they safely held our belongings for hours before we checked in (most check ins start around noon).
–Free printing from their desktops.
–The attached restaurant was very tasty and reasonably priced.
Cons:
–The suite had two windows in the bedroom: one with your typical, nearly blackout curtains (perfect for sleeping in) and one closer to the bathroom that has a super thin curtain that allows 99% of light to enter the room. I notified the front desk of this on our last night and they brushed it off. Not sure what they could have done, but they could have at least empathized with me! Don’t plan on sleeping in if you get that room.
–The three desktop computers use what looked to be Windows 95 and barely have enough available RAM to open a browser.
–Ice machine was inconsistent.

First impressions were not good. Old style lobby and corridors. I definitely was second guessing my decision to stay at the hotel. After seeing the room I was a lot happier. I walked to Nicollet Mall several times trying to stay away from the hotel restaurant. I broke down and ate at the hotel the third night and found it to be a great spot to chat with fellow business travelers. The food was good and the staff is great.
I would most definitely stay there again!

Outdated and just simply unpleasant! The theme of this hotel is outdated and could really use some remodeling. The dark wood and poor lighting throughout the hotel seems to be constant. When we walked into the room everything seemed average but our toilet would shift and the sink was filthy with hair and snot… Yes I said snot! Ew! We were only in town for a 2 nights and 3 days and made an effort to stay out of the hotel as much as possible. I am unsure of the mans name at the front desk on day shift who was «helping us» but he was extremely rude. I am disabled and here in Minneapolis for doctors appointments. On multiple occasions we would ask to use the complimentary van service but this certain employee would constantly try to talk us out of using it and say to just walk! First I am disabled with pelvic fractures! I can’t walk for long periods of time and second I am not familiar to the area and it seems if you go out the door of the hotel towards the hospital… Things get a little sketchy! The female on the day shift has a poor attitude also! It just blows my mind because the work in the service industry where customer service should take priority. It seems that when the front desk was asked to simply do their job it became a huge inconvenience to them! So I will do them a favor and not only never stay here again but would never recommend anyone else to either!

Neat hotel with unique look. Very pretty inside. You feel like you are staying in another country. Great location. However we were given the wrong room and they didn’t do anything to fix it. A microwave in the rooms would be nice. And they don’t allow delivery up to your room so you have to go down. Staff was friendly and helpful upon checkin but could have been more accommodating about the mix up. Beds are decent. Nice shower. Some pop and snack vending would be nice. Pool area was very nice although I prefer my hot tub deeper.

This is a really nice hotel, don’t get me wrong. The location can’t be beat. It’s right downtown and they offer parking with in and out privileges for $ 8/​day– which is fine with me for covered downtown parking. The common areas are beautifully decorated with leather furniture, dark wood, and some stained glass.
Our room had a very comfortable king bed with soft sheets and a great shower in the bathroom (comfy). Tons of towels (love). Fridge and microwave plus usual coffee setup. Glasses in place of plastic cups (nice touch).
The room had a large flat screen TV, but no HD channels… why have one and not the other? I tried to watch the news before bed, but it was all pixels (disappointing). Our room was on the 1^st floor, so instead of heading for the elevator, we were directed to the door to our hall. This door led to a flight of stairs which we had to haul our luggage up and through a heavy door (ouch). This hall of suites seemed to be isolated from the rest of the hotel. Our room had a glass pitcher and a sign stating that purified water could be found by the ice machines. That sounds so nice, I thought! This weird hall has no ice machine and the door to the hall leads back out to the lobby where there are no other guest rooms. Where was I supposed to get said water and ice?
We got in late and missed all of the amenities that we booked the hotel for (boo) but if you can get there on time, they have a pool/​spa, room service, and milk and cookies at the end of the day. I wish we could have stayed an extra day to get our money’s worth.

Great price, great stay. Apparently this hotel has been around for a while and is still known as just The Normandy, even though it is now technically a Best Western Plus. I like how this establishment is not overly modern. There are some refreshingly classic touches — while walking down the hall to my elevator after check-​in, there was a man playing the piano. I love that. Also passed by the indoor pool. There are two separate halls with guest elevators at the end, depending on your room number. Overall, the hotel is very… dark. Many things are brown color, including my bed set.
My room was on the bland side but had everything I needed, including lids for the coffee cups.
A delicious restaurant, The Normandy Kitchen, is located on the first floor.
Almost forgot — they also hand out free cookies at night! I missed it the first night but the second night I was having dinner at the onsite restaurant and someone came by with warm, fresh chocolate chip cookies.
Parking is not free, but at least it is reasonable at $ 8/​night. For those without a car, the hotel also has a complimentary area shuttle, which we did take a couple times to get to the convention center (but hotel is also walking distance).

The problem with this hotel is that the sheets are promised to be changed every three days, but they were not in my case.
The toilet doesn’t flush very well and completely stopped working on my third day here. One of my bath towels is stained but I did not have much problems with the other towels
The internet is EXTREMELY slow. I feel like I am using 56k speed again.
Overall, the rooms are modern and comfortable. This hotel is located downtown and it’s about half a mile walk from the light rail and the Nicholette mall.

We just held two weeks of classes at the Normandy. In 17 years of working with hotel staff this ranks up there as one of the top hotels we’ve worked with. I can’t think of a hotel where we received better service. The pastries they brought in each morning from the Normandy Kitchen were the best day in and day out. Our participants commented on the comfort of the beds. We didn’t stay at the hotel since we travel in our RV. We conduct training classes throughout the United States about 35 weeks a year. We definitely want to return. Patty Ruddy, the Director of Sales and her staff, the catering staff came to check on us frequently. We especially want to recognize Chelo from the catering department. In many of the hotels the only hotel staff we see are the ones that deliver the food.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel décor is kind of dark which I suppose fits the «theme.» Our room «suite» was small when I walked in. Everything appeared clean so I thought perhaps it hadn’t been used for some time. The food was just okay I had the rotisserie chicken which I though was on the rubber side server was okay as well.
For it being a BW Plus it need to be more attentive to customers all away around. Especially since I travel a lot and know the difference from good one or a bad one. Plus no complimentary breakfast in the morning.

Had driven by this place countless times when I still lived in the midwest, and finally decided to stay here on a fun overnight with my family due to location, inexpensive parking and free wi-​fi. It was fantastic! Cute décor inside (LOVE the stained glass windows), extremely friendly and helpful staff, great pool area, and the restaurant, which we unexpectedly decided to dine at, was fricken delicious and super accomodating to our «lively» table of nine — four of whom were rambunctious children. Awesome location too, just a couple blocks to the light rail. I was totally impressed.

The area was pretty booked up so the only reasonable room rate we could find in the downtown area was at the Normandy Inn. I was actually pleasantly surprised on how nice the room was. Not sure if it was my lucky day or not but I was given a suite for the night. It had two rooms including a fridge, a microwave, and yes a dishwasher. Who needs a dishwasher in a hotel room.
They have a large parking lot attached and parking was only $ 7 for the night which is extremely reasonable for the area. Your are within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shopping plus every night at 10pm they have free cookies and milk. Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to check that out but maybe next time.

While in town for the annual conference of the American Association of Museums, my sister and I stayed at the Normandy Inn. I’m the kind of person that prides themselves in finding good deals in cities for conferences instead of going to the defaults suggested by the convention center. After doing extensive research on price, cleanliness, amenities, and location, this place was hands down the best and cheapest option in downtown Minneapolis.
As I mentioned, this hotel is a particularly good location if you’re staying near the convention center. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the center, but also near the Nicollete Mall, with plenty of fun places to eat and shop. They also offered the cheapest parking rate of any other hotel in the area at $ 7 a day. The lobby and common spaces of the hotel have a sort of Dutch maritime vibe, but were all nicely kept and somewhat more fancy-​looking than I expected. I slept really well in our room, which was comfortable, clean, and a good size for two people.
I also found the staff to be friendly and offer good service. We stopped by the front desk on a few occasions for directions and suggestions around the city, and they even printed us maps. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to participate in the free cookie happy hour, but the smells of fresh baked goods in the evenings certainly were a nice touch of home. If I have any complaints, it would only be for the shoddy free internet. This was one of the things I especially appreciated about this hotel because none of the other ones offered free wireless, but it was such an unstable and slow connection that it made it pretty much unusable. As long as you don’t have to have prime internet during your stay in Minneapolis, this is the best deal around town.

I stayed one night an chose this hotel because of its location. I’m not generally a best western fan. But I was pleasantly surprised! The rooms are spacious and I felt that it might actually be a little underpriced for what you get.
Customer service was good, room was quiet: I was on a corner and the bus stop was right under my window. However, the windows are in triples and I never heard a thing from the street. I did run the fan all night though, for full disclosure.
I would definitely stay here again. There’s nothing that wowed me so 4 stars. Also, my room smelled like cigarette smoke when I walked in. It wasn’t strong enough for me to request a room change and the fan took care of it. So that took a star anyway.

My one-​queen suite sorta looks like a «U.» From doorway to the right: a living area (love seat, armchair, ottoman, wall-​mounted TV, end table, lamp, desk, lamp, chair) and kitchenette (mini-​fridge, microwave, coffee maker, sink, cabinets), one window. From doorway to the left: bedroom (bed, two nightstands, two lamps, dresser, closet, and three windows). Filling the space between the rooms is a tiled bathroom with glassed-​in shower. Elegant and rich color scheme, comfortable and clean. Great location if you don’t mind walking, about four blocks to Government Plaza light rail station.
