I have been here twice to get my muffler replaced. My experience with this place was average. There were some good and bad aspects.
The business was clean and well organized. The employees clearly have a good eye on staying on top of that. Therefore, I felt comfortable walking around and waiting when I had to wait.
Unfortunately, neither visit was I offered a new muffler. Instead, they automatically placed a used one without telling me. Neither muffler lasted me very long. I understand that things like this happen anywhere, but one place to do this twice is another thing. I wish they would have communicated with me on this this issue before automatically putting a used muffler in my car.
On my second visit, I told the employees about the issue with the previous muffler. They were apologetic. Unfortunately, the overall customer service needs some work. A few individuals appeared to not like their job and talked in a harsh tone.
Overall, I rate this place as average. These two experiences are not impressive enough for me to put this place very high on my priority list. I think the communication issue needs some work for me to consider coming back.

As a young single woman driving a ’95 Ford Taurus held together with duct tape, I am accustomed to being ripped off. My dad is a pretty gifted mechanic, so whenever I’m home he tries to take care of any car issues. However, when you drive a car that’s almost as old as you are, things inevitably happen. Typically when I take my car somewhere, the mechanic tries to tell me I need ALLOFTHETHINGS and said things are always an exorbitant price. I then call my dad and he tells me what to tell the mechanic. They sometimes get huffy and begrudgingly do the things I want for a little less.
This was my first time at CarX. My poor exhaust pipe had given up the ghost and nearly fallen off, creating a lovely cacophony as I drove. With huge puddles on all sides due to April snows, I got down and dirty and managed to heft it off the pavement with a wire coat hanger (thanks for the idea, dad!) and with thoughts of «how am I this embarrassingly ghetto» got myself to CarX.
Here’s the actually important info. :)
Front desk guy Pat: very nice and professional! He and the mechanics got my car in to check it out promptly.
Favorite part: he offered to bring me into the shop and show me the things! My car was hoisted up high and he pointed and explained and suggested. I actually understood what the issues were and what my options were!
Prices: he gave me the correct-​what-​you-​should-​do option, which would have cost me my retirement, and the good-​enough-​for-​now option, which will get me by until my dad can look at it and won’t cause me to choose an unsavory lifestyle to support myself. He did not make feel pressured or stupid for not choosing the expensive option.
If one must undergo the necessary evil of car repairs, I recommend CarX for sure.

I’ve taken my 2009 Honda Fit to Car X twice in the past year: once for a new set of tires and once for new battery.
I connected with Bob (for the tires) and Pat (for the battery), both of whom were knowledgable, informative and low-​pressure. On both occasions, I had pricing options explained to me very clearly and the price I received at the end is what was forecasted.
The install of my new tires and new battery both went very smoothly. On both occasions, my car was taken in on the day of my request and turned around within a few hours. The pricing was reasonable. I perhaps could have hunted a deeper discount somewhere else, but I felt I received a reliable price for reliable service. Again, I felt respected and informed throughout the full process.
I am taking my car in this week for new brake pads (I will edit and update this review afterwards). I am hopeful that I will receive the same great service for a fair price.

One day into a 3 week road trip and we started smelling gas. Something was leaking from the car and we feared the worst. I take my car faithfully to Car-​X in Indianapolis, so we decided to take it in to this location for diagnostics and an AC recharge since we were heading West in July. They looked over our vehicle in a timely fashion, ran several tests, and determined that all our worry was for naught. There was no charge for the diagnostics, and after paying only for the AC recharge we were on our way. The car performed like a champ for the remainder of our 6,000 mile trip. These mechanics are honest and fair and for that we and our road trip fund were very grateful!

I bought a Groupon ($ 40.00 for $ 75.00 worth of services), which included a regular oil change, wiper blades, tune up, and tire rotation. Although the Groupon did mention that synthetic oil would incur additional charges, I didn’t think it’d be more than $ 10 – 20 on top, given that my I’ve done regular oil changes at Tire’s Plus for $ 50 and the actual dealership around $ 80 – 90.
I brought my vehicle in and front counter was very courteous. A few hours later, they called and mentioned the additional charge for full synthetic oil (expected), but quoted me at an additional $ 35 for the oil, and another $ 16 for the «special» filter. We went back and forth about the groupon and offsetting prices, but I succumbed in frustration.
When I returned to pick up my vehicle the next day (they were nice to keep it overnight, even though they had called me 30 min before closing to pick it up, I was across town), the counter service noted that they had «offset» certain charges so I’d only be charged $ 52 instead of some ridiculous price in the $ 70’s range. Gee, thanks. I pretty much paid $ 40 for the groupon + $ 52 = $ 92 for an oil change, or the true value of the groupon at $ 75 + 52 = $ 127. Oh, I forgot, they threw in the wiper blades and a stripped bolt for the oil pan that cost $ 8.
The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 was because the counter service rep was attempting to be as considerate as possible for duping me. Thanks Car-​X man.
