History

Established in 1919.

Central Lutheran Church envisions becoming a thriving, vibrant model of urban Lutheran ministry for the 21^st century. This lofty vision requires us to ask each day if our goals for worship, learning, and service are clearly reaching a diverse neighborhood and city in language and action that reflect the world as well as our heritage.

The Community Ministries program is core piece of Central’s vision to be a vibrant, thriving model of urban ministry in the 21^st century. The purpose of this program is to build healthy community with God at the Center by serving those most in need.

At the heart of the Community Ministries program is the Restoration Center, a place for anyone who is struggling in the city. Now in its fourth year of existence the Restoration Center offers myriad ways to be engaged in the work of welcoming all people, alleviating poverty, and ending homelessness in our community.
