Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis Downtown

overall a nice place to stay. restaurant, pool and gym on the property. happy with our food. they do have free breakfast promos so check for that when booking. avoid the long island ice tea… worst drink I ever had.

Stopped by for a weekend trip away from kids.
Front desk did an excellent job and provided us with a view of the Stadium. Free cookies and hot chocolate too! Room is modern and staff does an excellent job keeping it clean.
Couple disclaimers: expect to pay $ 28 bucks a night to park valet as there is no parking on site. Also — no hot tub!

I stayed here while visiting my sister because it was less than a mile away. I do not get into big cities frequently let alone stay overnight so I was slightly apprehensive about staying downtown. Upon arrival I was greeted at the door by the valet with considerable hospitality. Every staff member I interacted with was professional and warm. The hotel was warm and inviting and had much to offer such a exercise room, pool, business center (three computers and one a Mac!), restaurant and bar. The room was wonderful and a great view and bed. Valet parking was $ 24 for the night but you can also park by the church for less. It is a trade off, money for convenience but that is life! Plus one must remember that it is downtown Minneapolis!

Wonderful stay here a few days ago. I was in town for a conference with several classmates. The hotel staff were all very friendly, respectful, and helpful.
One of my roommates needed ear plugs in the middle of the night due to another roommate’s snoring. She called the front desk around 1am and was told they didn’t have any. A few moments later, there was a soft knock on our door. The young man found a pair and delivered them to my roommate. He even brought a few pieces of candy to brighten up the moment.
The bartender is also very helpful. My first night there I got in after 10pm. Due to getting on an earlier flight to prevent delays, I hadn’t eaten all day with my travels. Even though the kitchen was closed, the bartender was there to offer many suggestions. He first brought out chex mix, checked the hotel’s little market stop, and provided a recommendation for a local delivery place. He was kind enough to heat up my packaged meal I bought from their market.
He also provided great conversation and information about the area. Lots of recommendations!
Lastly, I was very thankful for one of the valet guys. Being a student and paying out of pocket for the conference meant limited money. Valet was too expensive for me. The gentleman informed me of a parking lot very close to the hotel where it was self park and much more affordable for me. I really appreciated that!
Rooms were clean and hotel was kept up nicely.

This place is terrible. Don’t stay here. They charged me for a valet that wasn’t even my vehicle. And wouldn’t fix my bill no matter how much I complained. I was told I was threatening the management by asking for my bill fixed. The staff was very rude to me. I had to call customer service to get the issue fixed. They told me they wound refund my bill, only for me to get an email a couple hours later saying they wouldn’t. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE CHARGED EXTRA MONEY YOU DONT OWE!!!

I stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn in Ithaca recently that was amazing, so I was admittedly expecting a lot from this hotel. Unfortunately they did not deliver. My main complaint is that the floor was really dirty. I don’t think it was vaccumed before I arrived, and was not vaccumed during my week long stay. During my stay, something happened to the hot water and I ended up taking cold showers. The cleaning staff kept putting back all the stuff I had moved out of reach of my daughter. They did not have a sheet for the «crib» aka pack and play. The restaurant was ok, but their $ 2 per item on the breakfast bar is frankly ridiculous.

This place is a great price for the location next to downtown, however it is kind of tricky to actually drive to. Once you master the one way streets in downtown though it is a piece of cake. The employees were very nice and the downstairs check-​in/​bar area is very clean and well laid out. The breakfast (although a little expensive) is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend getting one of the omelettes. We went back in the bar/​breakfast area one afternoon during our stay and had a great time watching television and enjoying the hotel bar’s happy hour.
The room was very comfortable and I loved the firm bed. They have an excellent cable package and great air conditioning that cooled the room down quickly. With the hotel being so close to downtown you will get an excellent view from your room window no matter where your room is located in the hotel.
I think the only drawback is the parking/​valet situation. I have read a few reviews of people complaining about having to pay so much per day for parking. I think the hotel would just be better off raising the rates of the rooms so people never have to see the $ 24/​day valet charge on their bill. All-​in-​all it was a great trip and I would definitely book at the Hilton Garden Inn again in the future.

Joe — your comments should be embarrassing for you or any company to state. I think you should read my review again, and also you might want to rethink your policy and once you solidify it, share it with the hotel and it’s staff, as well as all the customers. First, you say you’re too big to mail anything back. Second, you say you’re happy to do so but you have to charge. So, decide on the policy and share it with the rest of us including the employees. Also, your «excuse» about being too big is why people will try Airbnb or any other hotel. I wasted about an hour total trying to track down my charger and you found it and I gave my address to someone at your hotel. Nothing was mentioned about a charge, but I probably would’ve paid it readily.
If you’re too big to make customers happy, you apparently don’t need my money or anyone else’s.
Note to you and others, I don’t think I’ve given a negative review to any other Hilton Garden Inn and I’ve stayed out a lot. Yes, I am an HH member.
PS. I’ve stayed at Podunk motel in the middle of nowhere that charges 60 bucks a night and they’ve mailed a garment free of charge, happily. I guess they want return business.

Booked this hotel on a 3^rd party website, a major online booking company, and it clearly said free valet/​free parking. I call the hotel to confirm this because I wanted to book specifically for the free parking. The front desk tells me there’s no such thing as «free parking» and that I will have to pay $ 24 no matter what. I ask for her manager, the «guest services ambassador» and she mockingly tells me to book and find out later and that she «can’t do anything». After informing her that it’s the hotels responsibility to honor what’s listed online, she hung up on me. Terrible service.
I booked the room and luckily got the parking. Room is ok, super bland – pics online definitely do the room justice. I barely got any sleep because the curtains do not close! I felt like I was sleeping on the roof, bright as day in the room right after sunrise.
On top, room service opened the door and came in without getting permission – had to yell for them to ask first and to get out.
I won’t be back.
Update: was told I got free valet/​parking with my room by the front desk manager, checked my credit card and they billed me THREE times for valet, not once, but three times totaling $ 78. BEWARE OF THIS HOTEL.

This place is quiet, centrally located, short walking distance from many restaurants, and just a third of a mile from the satellite office I am supporting.
I opted for a corner room away from the elevators and ice machines. This corner room had the morning sun in one windows, and afternoon sun in the other. so the room was always bright. The room was very clean. You have one desk, one office chair and Ethernet cable.
the complementary wifi worked fine, but a bit slow when using the VPN.
There is a mini fridge, which you have to turn on. Small microwave and coffee maker. I also made use of the guest laundry. You can buy Tide detergent from the hotel pantry.
There is no room safe for the paranoid *shrug*
It took me two days to solve the mystery of the hotel self parking area. On 3^rd Ave South, between the convention center and next to the Central Lutheran Church, is the Hilton Garden Inn self parking. They suggest you park inside the structure. Overnight costs $ 6.50. The parking attendant will leave envelops for overnight parking payment, but if you turn in the envelopes when you leave, they will add up the costs and you can pay by credit card.

Only valet parking, maid came and knocked on our door at 8:30am, we had a wake up call at 8am so they knew we were still in our room, and they preceded to stand there repeating they didn’t know English, this was frustrating. I preceded on with my day by heading out to the lobby and not being able to get coffee because they were out. Both on Friday around 10:30am and again on Saturday. This was also frustrating. Valet parking on Sunday was so backed up we needed to wait 30 minutes to get our car, even though the valet guy when we checked in said it would take about 10 minutes. Not super impressed with this particular hotel.

Arrived early and was treated very nicely at the front desk by Alona. Great smile, got me checked in, explained access to wifi, directed me to elevators. I’m in a comfortable room with two queen beds, frig, microwave, nice view of Minn and a park.
I’m here for a VB tournament and I feel our team made an excellent choice in staying here. I’ll write more as the stay progresses but I’m very happy and comfortable.

The room was clean but small. $ 26 a day for parking which is crazy and no option to do street parking. Good breakfast but I ordered room service one night, got the short ribs and it was awful. It was a steak (shouldn’t it have been ribs) and it tasted horrible. I complained when I checked out b/​c I didn’t even eat it and was told the couldn’t do anything b/​c the food was separate from the hotel and the manager was out. I was told they would call me when they got in and never heard anything. Ok place but I think I could’ve done better.

Great location! Right across the street from the convention center, walking distance to many restaurants, bars, and the Government Plaza light rail stop.
Nice lobby, staff and check in and check out were all smiles. They provide complimentary lemon water, coffee and tea in the lobby all day which is great. I do wish they had a free continental breakfast. Eating breakfast at their restaurant will cost you $ 13 bucks a person whether you order 4 stacks of pancakes or just a dry piece of toast. There was no a la cart option. We did eat dinner in the restaurant one evening and it wasn’t the greatest, but I was grateful they at least had more than one vegetarian option.
The room was clean and modern. The mattress was comfortable and the view was decent (we stayed on the 7^th floor). There were several rooms in our hallway that had been recently damaged by water but there were no moldy smells or debris, just some signs indicating that the rooms were under repair.

Beautiful hotel on the inside… very modern! Our hallway was under construction due to someone setting off the sprinklers a week before. But the rooms were completely fine! We really enjoyed the lobby with its friendly staff, welcoming restaurant/​bar and free color printing!

This is a perfectly acceptable chain hotel. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, there is DirecTV in the room. For barely being out of the heart of downtown, the rates are more than reasonable. I really enjoyed everything about staying here with the exception of the bed, it really is not a very comfortable mattress. Really firm and the knob to make it softer just deflates it like an air mattress.

Hilton Garden Inn is one of my go-​to hotel chains when traveling — so I was looking forward to my week in Minneapolis.
I checked in on a Monday afternoon and departed Friday morning.
My room was on the 4^th floor at the very end of the hallway, so it was quiet overall. My room was clean, had an HD TV, a mini fridge, free internet access, and AC that worked.
Cons:
— There are not many HD TV channels available on the HD TV
— The AC unit, while it worked well, it was rather noisy. C’mon HGI, upgrade to modern, quiet units!
— The pillows flattened down to the thickness of pizza boxes. I really wanted some thicker, more substantial pillows!
— Upon arrival, I was unaware that my Mini-​fridge was turned off. I had to turn it on and call down to the front desk to tell me what setting to set the thermostat. So my bottled water and V-​8 was not cold a few hours after I stuck it in the fridge.
— The free internet access was rather slow. Slow enough that each day I opted to upgrade for an additional $ 4.95 to the much faster service.
The valet staff was efficient when requested to retrieve my vehicle. There is only valet parking here ($ 24.00 per day) — no personal parking.
Hotel staff was friendly and efficient.
I’d probably stay here again.

We only stayed one night, but our stay was great! The breakfast was delicious (although make sure you know all of your options – I guess I missed the list and would have loved the eggs benedict that the table next to me ordered). The room was quiet, clean and the beds totally comfortable. Everything looks new. The staff was helpful and the plate of fresh cookies and flavored water when we arrived hit the spot. Getting to the hotel can be a bit tricky with all of the one way roads and fortunately our valet parking was included with the package we purchased – $ 24 is a bit steep for me in that location.

An amazing experience and customer service. When my baby fell asleep in my arms while at the restaurant, I took her to my room and the waitress, Lyvia brought all my food to my room without me knowing. On top of that I entered the room to find a note from the Guest Services Leader, Hayley thanking my family for our service in the military and wishing us a safe trip. It’s little human touches such as these that make for an amazing stay at a hotel. Highly recommend this place if you’re in downtown Minneapolis. Amazing staff.

Four words sum up this experience: I don’t think so.
1. They screwed up our reservation to start with. Most hotels know how to turn that into a non issue. This reception clerk was not all that sympathetic at all. She prattled on about how the computer shows a 1 night reservation only… blah blah blah. Yes I know that. Please fix it. Oh and there was no apology. A manager finally intervened and all went well thereafter. They get dinged because of the poor handling.
2. Rooms are out of date and overly plain. Wear and tear is quite evident.
3. Room service is not available all day. They have these odd hours with a large break in the middle of the day. What?
4. The Garden Grille and Bar downstairs has some seriously sad service. Service is slow and no one’s paying attention to the podium. It is not clear whether you should wait for a host or seat yourself. Were that clear, there likely would be no issue.
Bottom line this hotel needs some redecorating, better service and overall service training. I do love, love, love the bed and if all I’m there for is to sleep all the rest of this stuff isn’t a big deal. But for a girls’ weekend or something where you don’t want to go out much, go elsewhere.

Moi qui est l’habitude d’aller au Crown Plazza Northstar, j’ai du me rabattre sur le Hilton Garden Inn par manqué de place. Il est plus cher certes, mais la qualité de la prestation justifie la différence. Les lits sont confortables et les chambres sont bien insonorisées.
En revanche la carte des plats disponibles au restaurant de l’hotel est un peu indigente, et la carte des vins est du même acabit.

Nettes und zu Minneapolis Down Town gut gelegenes Hotel. 2-​Gehminuten zum Convention Center. Zimmer sind großzügig und klimatisiert. Wifi for free, sehr sauber, kleiner Pool und Fitness im EG. Sehr gutes Frühstück und das alles für einen angemessenen Preis.
