JJ’s is located inside a book store on Washington Avenue. Stopped in one afternoon and ordered a double espresso with foam made from Half n’ Half, dry — to go. Drink was strong and tasty. Staff was very friendly and nice!

I can really only review for the coffee and ambiance. Great space, with a lovely area upstairs. Coffee was really great, with option of light or dark roast, and non-dairy milk choices. I liked it so much I was there three times in two days!

Pretty limited selection of wine but the atmosphere is quality. Pinot Noir was not bad. About 9 or 10 bucks a glass. There is a shaded reading deck on the 3rd floor of the building which is awesome. Quiet and removed, it is the perfect place to spend an evening or afternoon in conversation, contemplation or reading.

They have a great lunch menu that includes sandwiches, wrap, salads, soup and more. Very affordable prices. You can also order wine and beer in addition to some wonderful coffee and tea. Service was superb. Atmosphere is collaborative, cute and industrial feel. Located in a great area!

WHAT A FIND! This was one of the best finds on my recent trip to Minneapolis! After a day at the mall, a friend and I headed back downtown to our hotel. We felt like we needed a small bite before we headed out to the pub later, and so on the metro back we scoured Unilocal for an open coffee shop. We decided on JJ’s because it seemed fairly close to a metro stop, and it seemed a little off the beaten tourist path. And boy did we hit jackpot! How could we have known that me(and my writer-friend) had stumbled onto a fascinating little co-op type place that is focused on readers and writers! FANTASTIC. The place was really empty — off hours are a great time to grab a book and go. It also served as a great place to delve into deep conversation with your best friend. Coffee was great. My friend had wine and I didn’t hear her complaining! We shared a muffin and a hummus plate. Strange accompaniments… but hey, it was pretty tasty. Rustic and modern at the same time, JJ’s is a great place to sit back, relax, and enjoy a drink. Can’t wait to be back in Minneapolis — I’ll definitely return here!

Mocha’s are a bit sweet and super tasty. Defiantly an improvement to the establishment over the prior café.

My parents moved in super close to JJs, so today I stopped in while walking the dog for an iced coffee. They were out, but a super nice barista made me a delish large iced americano. I would definitely come here to catch up on emails or study if I lived nearby!

I really love the atmosphere here: open spaces to read/study, chill background music, free parking, fresh food, coffee AND wine, across the street from my gym – what more do you need?

Popped in here because there is a dearth of breakfast and coffee options in this part of town. It was a good decision because they have excellent coffee. Actual mugs, gosh I forgot what those look like. And breakfast sandwiches made to order! Mmm… bacon! A decent amount of seating area with a few electrical outlets and free wifi. What’s not to love? I have no idea about the wine part, this was only my breakfast stop.

JJ’s totally snuck into Open Book under the radar. This used to be Coffee Gallery, which inhabited the gorgeous space but was pretty underwhelming in the food and the coffee departments. I can’t really say that JJ’s has totally knocked my socks off because I haven’t eaten anything yet, but I’ve had many cups of coffee here over the last couple of months and can tell you that they make way better coffee than the old place. It’s not third wave snobby style, but it’s very solid. This location has always been one of my favorite meeting places in town because they have free parking for the building. It’s just a nice open atmosphere for working solo or collaborating(big tables in the back), and the periodic elementary school field trips to the MN Center for Book Arts are always a treat to experience. Kids are adorable, am I right? They also feature a menu of simple breakfast sandwiches, café lunch fare and wine and beer.
