If you’re looking for authentic Asian dare you shouldn’t have gone to the mall. But in all honesty it is one of the tastier options available at the food court. It’s hot. It’s relatively fresh. And it’s cooked in front of you. Their portions are decent for the inflated mall pricing but you at least know what you’re getting.

I have never been to this restaurant before and frankly, idk if they have more branches. My review here is about this particular one. I’m a meat lover but the taste of their beef is not really good. It tastes like an old refrigerated beef with a very poor/low quality. I literally couldn’t even complete the meal so I went to another restaurant to have dinner. The quantity is another story! As a new customer, I didn’t really know how much to put especially since the beef is frozen and looked like a lot to me but when they cooked it, it became so small that you have to dig your noodles to find it! :/

I have eaten at other Great Khans location and have to say something was wrong with the beef. It had to be the lowest quality beef you can buy, I was not even able to chew the meat. When I aproached one of the workers and told her my concern, she smiled with a grin and a nod. She then told me to tell the owner sitting at a table in the food court. When I approached him he did not seem to have any concern about the meat not being edible

The Greatest Khan. This is the first Great Khans I’ve been to that will put your pile of meat and veggies on the grill THEN add noodles to your empty bowl. This is awesome since you can pile as high as you want AND get maximum noodles without worrying about them only putting the amount of noodles that would fit on top. Did I mention checking in gets you 10% off? And being a college student also gets you 10% off?

Pretty good Mongolian food for a decent price. One order is more than good enough for two hungry pax.

Am I the only one who doesn’t «press down the meat»? Maybe it was the way I was raised, but it just looks bad. Are you really that hungry or that unfortunate that you have to squeeze in a couple bucks of meat? Anyway, this is the only mall food I get when I come here. Sometimes, I’ll even stop by over here on my way home to pick up some dinner. The choices of meat and vegetable is plenty. They give you a lot of noodles and I love the seasoning. I always end up eating it for 2 – 3 meals because the portion is so large– even without me «pressing down the meat.» I highly recommend this place!

One of the restaurants in the huge Mission Viejo food court. It’s standard Khan Mongolian. You pay first, then get a medium-sized bowl to fill up. My pet peeve when it comes to Mongolian is only getting a limited space, and you don’t have any sanitary way here to squish down the meat, which is frozen and rolled. By the time you get to the vegetables you really can’t fit much, and they almost always end up putting everyone’s noodles on top of a huge pile in the bowl. All of the ingredients shrink down too once they’re cooked so you don’t end up with as much food as you would like. Still it’s a good filling lunch for under $ 10

Delicious. Decent portions. The meat was good. Veggies were decent. Service was lackluster.

This is a nice stop in the food court of mission mall. It’s my favorite for a quick bite. I always pile on the meat in the beginning until the bowl is totally full, throw on a fair amount of veggies, and skip the noodles. It’s always delicious. I always wish the sauce was stronger. But I always get maximum garlic. It goes very well with the beef :).

I don’t care if it’s in a mall, this place is legit. I’ve been to Mongolian places all over the US, and this place is just as good as any of the upper level places. Fresh meats and veggies, delicious sauces, garlic infuses noodle goodness and all for $ 8. I’ve been to several of these restaurants and it’s always a good decision. I suggest the beef with carrots, onions and mushroom. All the sauces and extra spice and garlic… epic!

Great Khans is scrumptious! When you go pack your bowl down smash all the round meat strips it helps build a good base for the mound of numerous vegetables you can put on top! After you have the veggies they will take your bowl and add hot sauce, chili paste, garlic, and noodles if you want them! Then you can watch them cook your food with the big sticks on the huge grill once its done you will end up with a pile delicious of food!

$ 7.45 + Tax for an entrée. They give you a bowl and you pile on as much meet, vegetables, and herbs as you want. Select your sauces. They add rice or pasta and then cook all the food for you. Finally they box it up for you to enjoy! Yum! :-)

Dude, I have to have a Mongolian BBQ once in a while, I’m addicted to this taste! I tried sit down restaurants and I didn’t like it, it’s not the same thing. The small places at the mall taste better than any Mongolian restaurant I’ve been to. I only get veggies, I don’t lie the frozen meat’s taste, so I fill up my bowl and I go heavy on carrots! I get the spicy sauce and garlic(you got to get garlic) and they add the rest of the sauces! It tastes delicious, perfect meal while watching those music videos on the Food Court TVs!

This place its great for a mall Mongolian beef restaurant. I like the fact that you put as much meat and veggies as you want and they cook them for you. If your going to east at mission mall this place is good.

Great Khan’s is a decent joint. I think there are a ton of other places that are better than this at about the same price and that offer a better value for price… but hell, I haven’t review this place yet so that’s why I am here. First, you have to recognize that food costs like double what it should simply because they operate out of the high priced Mission Viejo Mall… err Shops at Mission Viejo. Just changing that last part of the sentence probably added a buck or two onto the price of your food. Recognize! Second, the food is good because you get to make your meal to how you like it. Some highlights to this place… they have this warning sign that you shouldn’t touch the raw meat because its bad for your health. We all know that when we go to Great Khans, we all take our napkins to squish the ever living shit out of the food to compress it in the bowl to cram even more shit into the bowl. The sign is just there for shits and giggles. Overall, the food is good. It is probably better than getting fast food. Maybe? Ok. I don’t know… maybe I am just f’in making that last part up… but the food is pretty good. I give this place 3… out of 5.

I don’t know how you guys give this place more than 1 star. Look at the meat you pick when you are ordering. The veggies are ok but the meat looks super old. just because this place is surrounded by crap food doesn’t make it a 4 star or 5 stars. if you are not working at the mall then don’t eat at the mall. There is other restaurants nearby

This is the only restaurant that I’ve eaten at with any consistency here at The Shops. Of course, when I first started eating here it wasn’t $ 7.45 for a single entrée, but that’s the way things go. For those who haven’t had Mongolian BBQ, it’s simple: pile all of your ingredients into a bowl and hand them over to the cook. 5 minutes later you’ve got a hot, steaming pile of tasty goodness. They have 4 meats to choose from — chicken, beef, pork and lamb. There’s a sign at the front of the line that warns customers to not press down the meat into your bowl by order of the Health Dept. I think that’s bullshit, though. The meat comes frozen and rolled up, so if you don’t press it down you won’t be able to fill up your bowl much. They know this, so they try to discourage it as much as possible. I say screw it — I’m already paying almost $ 10 for an entrée and drink, so I’m going to make sure I get enough to eat. Once you pick your protein, there’s a massive amount of veggies to top it off. Carrots, green onion, broccoli, celery, onion, cilantro… the list is too long for me to remember. Once you’re full, hand over the bowl for a few ladles of sauce(mild or hot) and garlic, if you want it. I always want it. The server will crown it with a liberal tong-full of noodles and then it’s off the to cook. 5 minutes later you’ll be handed a hot plate of good food.

Rushing for lunch… Something fresh, something with vegetables and quick. You get to choose your choice of meat, vegetables, hot sauces, garlic, the works. I was full and it’s better than McDonalds. The only set back is the people who work there are rude, yelling«Hey!!! Hey!!! For here or to go???» Yelling from the back of the kitchen and the workers talking more than working. I am not sure how«true» Mongolian it is but what do you expect from a food court. :P I wish those bowls were slightly bigger. Quick tip: smoosh as mush of the the toppings into your bowl as you can or you get mostly noodles.

I remember when this place first opened at the mall. I used to love this place. I recently went shopping at the Mission Viejo mall so I decided to visit the food court. It’s basically the same as 9 years ago when I first went there except for 1 thing… the price went from $ 5.95 to $ 7.45 For slightly under 10 dollars you can go down the street(½ mile away from the mall) and go the the«All You Can Eat» Mongolian bbq. called Big Sky Grill Mongolian BBQ. They have way more vegetables, sauces and you get rice and a bread pocket. There’s no need to worry about pressing the raw meat down into the bowl to get more meat at Big Sky Grill. That’s one of the advantages of being father.

Whenever I’m at a mall, the only thing I’d really want to eat at is Great Khan’s Mongolian Festival. The thing is, not every mall has one, so when I found out that there was one at this one, I was very excited. This one offers 4 types of meat: pork, chicken, beef and lamb(most don’t offer lamb) but no shrimp or tofu. I guess each location tailors its ingredients to the clientele. My only problem with this location is that the staff does the sauce for you instead of allowing you to do your own. Mine turned out a little under-salted, but all in all, this is a great choice at a mall because you get a bunch of fresh veggies and it’s cooked up when you give it to them. The only oil is the chili oil you add, so it’s low fat too because you can opt that out.
