Yoga Fix Studio

Yoga Fix is a fun studio. I have tried a few of the restorative yoga classes in the front room. I have not had a chance to try the hot yoga. There is generally plenty of props to go around, however, a few times we had to share. The classroom did get pretty full while I was there, and that was a problem for me. Restorative is supposed to be a relaxing atmosphere and the room was quite bright. Some darker curtains would help that. Also, it would be nice to have a class size limit. If there was one, it didn’t appear to be enforced. We used every square inch of that studio and stretching can be difficult in close proximities. With that said, the instructors were wonderful, kind, respectful, and incredibly patient. Some of the other attendees felt the need to have conversations during the class, which is incredibly disturbing. Perhaps they were new to yoga. In all, I would try it again, perhaps during a less busy season so that its not incredibly packed!

I took a hot yoga class which is what I needed after at a long day a conference. The room was at a great temperature, dim and calming. Once the class got started I found the instructor was difficult to understand due to the openness of the room. Her voice echoed a lot. I did however appreciate her instruction as she helped me with poses and walked around the room to help others. The class was not flow, no sun salutations or down dog. I was not a fan of the transitions from pose to pose once we got down on the mat. Continuously turning around instead of facing the same direction was annoying. Also, some participants left at the 75 minute mark, others left during the end mediation. I was trying to meditate and hearing others pack up was rude and disturbing. The instructor also left at the end of class, she didn’t get us out of meditation or change the lights, there was no real close to the session.

Love this place. Clean, friendly, and a good variety of classes. I’ve taken at least one from most teachers.
There is one teacher I don’t quite enjoy, Carrah — she plays really loud pop music during her classes. It was so loud and annoying that I couldn’t even concentrate and I left way more stressed than I came in. To each their own, I know some people really enjoy her class and you might as well, I just can’t do Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson during yoga. I was even in the hot room for a class another time and could hear her music through the walls.
My favorite teachers otherwise are Jordan Ryan (flow) and the owner, Mary (hot).

Great yoga studio! It was my first time there and I was immediately greeted, by whom I believe was the owner. Everyone was very friendly! I had a great practice with Carrah who taught the moderate class. I bought the 30 day unlimited pass for $ 30 but I’ll probably be abutting membership after that!

I’ve been attending classes here for about a month. It’s been a great experience and the teachers are very knowledgeable and teach beginners to advanced students. They have a variety of classes such as Warm Flow (Vinyasa), Gentle Flow, and Hot Yoga. I like to switch to see what each class is like.
I got their 30 days for $ 30 special and now I’m doing the auto-​pay for 6 months because it’s close to my house and they usually have monthly deals that you can check out that save you some $$$. I like it because the instructors have a sense of humor and aren’t stiff and serious. Some places are too serious for me and I want to learn and get better but also have fun while doing yoga.
Considering that I’ve tried several other places, I think this place is the place for me. Give it a try and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

This place rocks so much. I’m seriously obsessed. They have several types of yoga, including hatha and my personal fave-​hot yoga. It’s less than 15 minutes from downtown, and reasonably priced. The instructors are all knowledgeable and super friendly. I’d recommend this studio to anyone!

This is a fabulous studio. I’m new to yoga (been doing it a month) but tried another local studio and this is by far my favorite. Each yoga instructor has different corrections to add, I really feel as though you learn how to do the positions properly. I can already feel huge improvements in technique and overall general feeling after classes ever since I started going here. Much more-​so than what I got at the other studio.
But they are also very easy-​going; there’s a wide range of expertise from extreme beginners to experts. I never feel uncomfortable. The studio itself is kept clean, is big and overall just has a very positive vibe to it, probably because the teachers themselves are also very nice. It is extremely affordable and also much less expensive than the other local studio. I am so happy I stumbled across this gem in Mission. I will definitely be sticking to this place.

Have been a loyal fan for many years and hands down this place saves my sanity and body. It is impossible to exaggerate how good it is for every facet of your mental and physical health. Always clean, wonderful instructors, and relaxing non-​competitive vibe.

Prepare to get a good workout in! I have only personally attended the heated classes, so I can directly attest to these, but each workout leaves you feeling stronger and more energized than the workout before. In addition to feeling better, I could see some physical changes after only a few sessions. In addition to the classes themselves, the teachers and other employees at this studio are incredibly nice, helpful, and welcoming. Go to Yoga Fix Studio you won’t regret it.

It was hard to find, when it comes to directions. But, a wonderful and inviting spirit and many classes to choose from. Loved the energy of the studio and the teachers here and felt like I was in good hands.

I also wish I could give Yoga Fix more than 5 stars because it is just that wonderful. I moved to KC about a year ago and went to multiple different studios in the area before I found Yoga Fix. What attracted me MOST to this studio is its wide array of convenient yoga times! Oh my goodness… you can actually work full time AND still do yoga! The instructors are super nice and I really enjoy their classes. There are a lot of instructors though so if you plan on trying out the types of yoga classes offered, you’ll get to know the different instructors and their distinct teaching styles.
I have never done hot yoga prior to joining this studio, but I absolutely love it and suggest it to everyone. It’s an intense workout and you need to drink A LOT of water the day before you go to a class… because, well let’s face it, you are going to sweat profusely. I will also say it is a pretty tough class for beginners, but after a few times of going consistently (as in a few times a week, not just like a few times a month), you will definitely start feeling more flexible and stronger. Another style of yoga that Yoga Fix offers is Hatha yoga which is kind of like the sister style to hot yoga, but is actually taught in the non-​heated room. The instructor does a lot of the same poses that we do in hot yoga, but for a longer period of time so you can really focus on the full stretch and pose. Unfortunately, I am a working woman and her classes are only offered at 11am on Mon, Wed, and Fri. Its a bummer… but it also might be why sick days exist :).

Okay, so I may be a bit premature in my review. You see, I just took my first class here last night. I am not one to review something until I have experienced it at least a couple of times. However, between the other reviews I’ve read and other yoga places I have been to, I can already tell you this place is truly fantastic. The staff, the instructors, the fellow students… everyone is there because they love yoga. You get this amazing vibe as soon as you walk into the basement area (it is a bit hidden, I was thankful for the previous reviews giving directions as well as the ability to follow a student whom had arrived just before me). Everything is very clean and peaceful and inviting. I chatted up the guy at the front desk for a bit about the classes before entering my own. As soon as I walked in the class and noticed 3 people already in there, laying down and preparing their minds for class, letting go of the work day… oh my. I fell in love. I have never entered such a class before. It was so calm and fantastic. Definitely no ego’s! Sorry, I should mention, this was the Kripalu class (basically a meditative yoga class). It could be a very different scene and vibe for the hot yoga class. All I know is that I felt like I was surrounded with people who were there for the yoga. It was quite refreshing.
Another reason they deserve 5 stars is because their schedule ROCKS! There are 2 night classes each night that I can actually make having to come home from work, driving across town. They alternate them so you could take classes each night and not get bored! I had such a great time and I look forward to trying out the other classes offered as well! Definitely check out their website and see if any catch your eye! The new student special is fantastic, 30 days for $ 30! Some other studios offer it, but their classes are so few you can’t really take advantage of it! Here they even ofter MULTIPLE classes on Saturday AND Sunday!!! I am so bummed I just now heard about this place. Do not make the mistake I did and delay trying it out!
Oh, and if you do not have supplies, they have a ton there which can be borrowed!

Bikram ‘style’ classes are not real Bikram classes. The instructors are uncertified, and give hands on corrections which I felt were dangerous for me

Is there a way to leave SIX STARS???
(Although the review guidelines ask us not to write a review if we are connected to the business [and I have recently started to teach classes here], I am writing it as a client and community member, which has been the case long before I started teaching here. I am gaining nothing by writing this, just be clear.)
I started teaching here because it’s my FAVORITE yoga studio in all of Kansas City! And I’ve tried almost all of them. Yogafix offers the largest number and widest variety of classes as well as the most variety of times, including early morning, mid-​morning, mid-​day, early evening, and mid-​evening. Although the hot yoga classes dominate the schedule, they just added a second studio (with BEAUTIFUL bamboo floors!!) and 10 more classes on the weekly schedule, which includes classes every day of the week.
With the expansion, now they offer, hot yoga, power yoga, vinyasa (flow), cardio-​pilates, gentle yoga, and hatha. AND it’s one of only TWO studios in the whole KC Metro area that offer Kripalu yoga classes — deeply meditative, relaxing and centering classes focused on the whole person, not just a physical exercise. The hot yoga instructors are awesome here! And there are often special events and workshops.
The place is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! With two large studios, bathrooms and shower/​steam rooms for men and for women, and a lovely sitting area, there is a LOT of space. Still, the staff keeps the place spotless! They sanitize their bathrooms and studio floors every day, which is important when you have people sweating all over the floor during hot classes!
Most importantly for me, though, is the sense of community you feel here. Everyone is friendly, helpful and welcoming. Receiving the studio’s email newsletter is a highlight for me. Written by Mary, the owner, it is thoughtful, reflective and wonderful in connecting you not only to what’s happening there at the studio, but also in the community at large. Mary is amazing and often greets clients by first name — I think she knows everyone’s name!
Almost every month, there is a new student special of $ 30 for 30 days and often other specials for lapsed or current members, making this studio very affordable to join. Located at Shawnee Mission Parkway and State Line Road – a hop, skip and a jump from the Plaza and Brookside – it’s conveniently located and has a HUGE parking lot. It’s just a little hidden, on the bottom floor of the Reece & Nichols building, but definitely worth looking for it!

Beautiful studio, excellent teachers, reasonable rates, nice people who run the place. Overall a wonderful yoga studio. Lots of classes at a variety of times.
They’ve recently opened a new room and expanded their schedule to include lots of non-​hot classes as well as hot classes.

Prepare to be SOAKED. This 90 minute hot yoga class is intense, but you will feel so good when you leave. The instructors are very detailed and wil explain why you’re doing each pose and what body part it benefits. The different postures benefit everything from your immune system to your sex life!
They do have a few other classes here. I’ve tried Cardio Pilates (it is one of the hardest work-​outs I’ve ever done — your feet will have blisters from all the mountain climbs), but bikram yoga is their specialty.
Yoga Fix offers more hot yoga classes than any other studio in the city. They’re a little hard to find — they’re in the basement of the Reece and Nichols building just before Shawnee Mission Parkway and State Line Road.
It’s a great way to shred pounds and detox. Just don’t plan on going anywhere other than the shower after class, you will be drenched in sweat.
