Joseph Pilates once said, «Physical fitness is the first prerequisite to happiness.»

The Pilates Method, developed more than 80 years ago, is a system of exercise based on a series of fluid, controlled movements that use spring resistance and/​or gravity to strengthen the core muscles of the body (the abdominal, lower back and pelvic-​floor muscles). By developing the body’s «powerhouse,» as Pilates called it, one establishes a stable foundation for all types of movement.

The benefits of doing the Pilates method of body conditioning include balancing of muscles and joints, increased abdominal and back strength; longer, leaner-​looking muscles; enhanced ease of movement; and improved balance, coordination and circulation.

History

Established in 1997.
