This place is decent. It’s good for a quick bite and if you have an instant craving or sushi like I do. It’s not a fancy place just a little hole in the wall, but overall the food is decent.

Osawa’s has the very best salmon sushi is always fresh and son and I usually go there every week and the sushi and teriyaki are always the best. the service is excellent. The prices are reasonable also. I would highly recommend Osawa’s to everyone. Laura

I’ve been here 2.5 times and I’ll explain the .5 in just a bit. :) The first time was when it just had opened, the prices were good, service was good and sushi rolls were good. The second time I came in, it was HOT inside, I had to literally fan myself, and the cashier kept staring at me which made me feel a bit awkward. :/Then the last time(.5) I walked in and noticed they raised the prices!!! Just because they are like the 2nd sushi place in Montebello, doesn’t mean they are that good! I mean, it was still HOT inside, as soon as I seen the prices I made a U-turn and was out the door! I’m not even sure they’re in business still.

I feel really bad giving this place 2 stars because the Korean ladies that work here are sooo nice… but I have to be honest, for the sake of you, the public in search for some good sushi. From the outside, this place looks like your average Korean-owned Japanese fast food place. They have sushi rolls, bento boxes, teriyaki chicken, etc. But the quality isn’t so good. The food is pretty forgettable, nothing very delicious about it. I’d only come here if I was really desperate for sushi and I was in the area and couldn’t go anywhere else. They’re also closed randomly during the day so I don’t think they really have regular store hours… or if they do, they don’t go by them.

The place is just mediocre. I tried it out because it’s in the SGV Entertainment book. I don’t think I’d be back. As for the food, portions are small and nothing to rave about. I had the bento box and although it seems like a lot of food, the portions were small. I think I barely got 1 scoop of rice and maybe half a boneless thigh cut super thin. There are better choices in the area.

This place is not as bad as a review from 2007 says it is especially since in 2007 most of us where making sweet money buying homes with zero down and loving life and eating at expensive sushi joints so of course this place will suck fish balls, now go back broke as fuck and I bet you the sushi will taste better.
When you walk in the place does not seem like your regular sushi joint, it fells more like a mini McD’s sushi joint where you pay at the counter for your food and then sit and wait for your order, the sushi was not bad at all I have had way better and have had crappier sushi but this place should be only if you are to lazy to drive a few blocks north to Monterrey Park.

How lucky we are to have an authentic place for japanese food in this city. The food is fresh and cooked to order. No, it is not fancy, but it is good food and good value.

IFYOUEATHEREANDLIKETHEIRFOOD, WEWILLNEVERGETALONGAND I WILLPROBABLYHATEYOU. Before my mom and I headed out on the hunt for turkey, we decided to grab a bite to eat. I happened to be driving around in this plaza when I saw Osawa’s. Sushi? Oh yes, please. We were a bit skeptical, however, it had an A and looked comfortable. Everything went to hell once we stepped foot into the place. I should’ve known from the photos that this place was going to MAKEMEWANTTOVOMITALLOVERMYSELF. I ordered the chicken bowl($ 4.75) and my mom got the tempura + chicken teriyaki plate($ 6). I was like, we’re not going to eat anything raw here. They had their soy sauce, s+p shakers and tub of water, all self-serve. Eww. WHATTHEEFFISWRONGWITHYOUOSAWA? The chicken. Or shall I say, chick-CON was BOILED and flat as tortillas, laying all over my soggy sticky rice, topped with some brown sauce they call teriyaki sauce. WOW! EFFINGREAT! TASTESLIKESHIT! I was so pissed. I watched two families gorging themselves on this pasty salty crap and wondered«AREYOUZOMBIES?! HOWCANYOUEATTHISANDNOTWANTTOPUNCHYOUROWNKIDSINTHEFACE???» I seriously wanted to slap the girl at the counter and then go bludgeon the chef to death with his obviously frozen chicken thighs.
