Seems like I’ve ad a run of restaurants that are just plain misses. I was out in LA with my mom and we looked for a Hot & New restaurant to try and HOT Spicy Kitchen came up. We’re totally into the szechuan foods so we thought we’d love this place. We ordered: Wonton with Red Chili Sauce Bean Jelly Noodle with Chili Sauce Pepper Salt Deep Fried Squid Cheng Du Maladang with 4 meats and 4 veggie These portions are SUPER tiny and after spending $ 50 on all of that we were still hungry so we paid our bill and went to dinner at Sham Tseng BBQ Shop. Now on to their service, the young gentleman that was helping us was not very helpful. We asked for recommendations, we asked for portion size and we asked for explanations all of which he either replied«I don’t know» or «Maybe» which was not helpful especially for us first time patrons. When we were done, I had to literally stand up and wave my arms at the 3 young guys and 1 female that was working because they were all staring off into space(literally staring out the window not aware of other ppl in the room) and if you’ve ever been here, you know this place is pretty tiny and not difficult to see across the way. There were only 2 other parties dining. Although the food was good, their portions do not match their pricing(at least not for the maladangs) and I won’t be back. You can get a similar dish called Shuay Ju Niu Riu or Shuay Ju Yu for a fraction of this price at larger portions at most Szechuan restaurants. This is not a one of a kind find. Unless their pricing for the Maladang were about ½ of what it is, I wouldn’t recommend it…

CAUTION***When they tell you that mild is extremely spicy, really do take it into consideration that mild spicy is pretty much extra spicy! For me, I can say that I can handle spicy level up to medium. But they ain’t jokin’ around here, nope not here. They also have pepper corn within the broth which brings out the numbing taste(if you ordered the chengdu ma ra tang with spicy). Their menu is very limited with just a few selections from appetizers/snacks to the pot itself. I do suggest to just make your broth NOSPICY and add in your own spiciness whether it’s the ORIGINALBONESOUP base or the CHENGDUMARATANG which gives you a higher spicy level up to 4 chili peppers. Unless you can handle extreme, intense spiciness! I got the chengdu ma ra tang with 1 chili pepper thinking I can handle a mild. And I honestly couldn’t. I had to add no spicy broth to my soup just so I can actually enjoy it. They also warn you beforehand if it’s your first time. I was coughing like a crazy old lady. So you’ve been WARNED ! Some high lights: fried bun with condense milk That bun was perfectly coated and perfectly fried! Yum! =) Would def come back and try the original bone soup. Until then, I would give this place 4 – 4.5!

Folks! This is THE best spicy food in town I promise you! Been here twice and none of their dishes was wrong. The tingling kind of spicy is always the TOP1 spicy choice and they made it all right! They too have mild flavor soup if you don’t eat much spicy food or have kids with you. Can’t find anywhere else for hot spicy food!

The taste of food here is pretty decent. However, I personally feel it’s kinda expensive. For Ma La Tang, you need to order minimum of 6 kinds. The final price is similar to a hot pot buffet. And they don’t have that much options to choose from. But still the taste is decent. Strongly recommend spicy and sour noodles!

This place is a little bit expensive though. If you order the Ma Ra Tang on the side menu. You must order over 5 items.

Extra yum describes their Maratang. Had a bowl and must say it was great. Ordered the medium hot version and there was a few tears. The meat and vegetables where perfect. You can customize you soup so that was pretty cool. The restaurant was super clean and had a modern look. I will definitely be returning.

Yesterday was my first time coming to this place. The place is pretty small, but cozy! The food was delicious. We had the chicken with chili sauce and ma ra tang with toppings. The spiciness level was perfect(we chose mild for our soup). At the end of our meal, the waiter gave us complimentary teas(lemon and lychee). All the waiters were very friendly! I will definitely come back!!!

New restaurant in the hood. Didnt expect it will be crowded since it is located in kinda dead complex lol. Anyway, the spicy garlic with chicken is good! The waiter explained to us how to order our ma ra tang and also served warm honey lemon after our meal one big full cup! Dang! Money well spent hahahhaa The ma ra tang soup base is free, you just have to pay for the topping. Sweet!

Here’s your instructions on how to order: 1. Grab slip. One slip per soup order. 2. Choose between Original Bone Broth(which is a milky soup broth– order this if you’re in the mood for something light & soothing) or Cheng Du Ma Ra Tang(which is a thick and spicy oil based«soup” — order this if you want a heart attack. Just kidding, this is the classic & popular ma ra or ma la numbing spicy dish.) 3. Check off your level of spice.(I chose level 1 spicy for my Cheng Du Ma Ra Tang which is perfect for someone who loves heat but can’t handle too much of it. Dining companion ordered spicy for his Original Bone Broth which is basically just a spoon of chili oil.) 3. Check off the ingredients you want in your soup. There is a MINIMUM of 5 ingredients per order. Price of your soup varies depending on what and how many ingredients you add to it. 5 was enough to fill me up. 4. Rice is $ 1 per order. Eat with rice. Enjoy! There are also side dishes, noodles, vegetables, and dry pots to choose from. They’ve narrowed down the menu so it’s not overwhelming and the menu comes with pictures.

I am on some spicy restaurant run these days. So far I’ve had chengdu taste and schezuan impression. This one ranked right between those two with chengdu first and this one second. HOT kitchen has a small menu. You can make your own soup Maratang bowl so you can add what you want and choose spicy level. I decided to go with medium and I added beef, tofu, Napa, enoki mushrooms, and pork blood. The pork blood was a really good touch to the meal. I can handle spicy so this was a good level and unlike chengdu, their meals are not as oily. I wasn’t too pleased with the tantan noodles. It’s much better and bigger portion at chengdu.

Tastes and smells really good :) The thing is that I have no idea how to order. I don’t see a sauce station, and it only comes with rice I believe? Will come back if they improve the instructions

They have a nice ambience and cute workers. If Anyone have hankering for spicy food should come and try this place for sure. I’ll be back!!! To be continued.

The food is tasty if you like numb and spicy. You can choose from mild to extra spicy, I mean 911 spicy. The service is great and the restaUrant is clean and Ronny. I would recommend the fried condense milk roll and the dry pot. The beef from the house special maratang was a little chewy tho but it tastes good.
