Cannery Row Inn

I should’ve just went with my instincts and stayed at a random Motel 6.
I can say that there were no bedbugs in my room. That’s about all I can say.
I guess it will do as long as you don’t have expectations of things like coffee in the coffee pot at breakfast… Or waffles on the waffle tray… Or an extra pillow to exist within the facility… Or decent soap… Or any kind of courtesy from the desk clerk at check in… Or a clean patio…
I’m probably just picky

A few pointers to improve the quality of this Inn.
Front lobby — the water dispenser was out of water. Lack of attention to detail.
Continental breakfast 3 stars — banana was fresh on first day, 2^nd day has brown spots best for banana bread. Hopefully, the other fresh fruit that was served each day are not recycled the following day, to avoid food-​borne illnesses. The English muffin was crunchy and tasty.
Carpeting no star, upgrading the floor might improve the old musty smell of an old motel.
Security — they have installed cameras in hallways. The side doors were open and easily accessed without keys from the street,
No air-​conditioning. It is scary to open the sliding door near the streets to let the sea breeze in.
The bathrooms were upgraded, nice shower,

Price; it was the best thing about this place, other hotels in the vicinity are a little higher priced, but worth taking a look at, because…
Facility; I believe our stay here was just at the «wrong place at the wrong time» it was very noisey with a lot of building around the location, no restful mornings, (excusable). The rooms (same as years ago) needs a little improving the carpets are old and worn and have stains. Cobwebs on the high ceiling, and the furniture, a couple of chairs, one had ugly stains on it and the other was torn, I didn’t even want to look closer at it.
Service; we asked for a few extra towels and the next day they took the extras away, and also did not refill our in-​room supply of coffee, tea, and complimentary condiments. (And I tipped them pretty good for leaving extra towels the first day). Lost their tip privileges!
Over all I believe the owners of this establishment really needs to improve it. Mind you the price was lower than other places right near here, but the saying comes to mind, «you get what you pay for».
Would I stay again??? Probably not .

Nice and clean place. Came on a day trip and decided to stay. Price was decent at 99 bucks. King bed with a fireplace. I would recommend for sure. All the shops down cannery row are just a walk away.

I booked my reservation on line it did not allowed us to pick a room, it said we could pick it at check in. When we got there the room was 60 dollars more than the price on line for the first night and 140 dollars more for the second night. There customer service didn’t seem compassionate about the misleading information, they did not made any accommodations. We are stock here for one night. The hotel seems dirty so far, not surprise if i find bed bugs. Bad way of doing business!

I recently stayed here and really enjoyed this Inn. It’s in a prime location, half a block from the ocean and walking distance to Cannery Row and the aquarium. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms have been recently updated. They also offer a complimentary breakfast and have a nice terrace you can sit out on to enjoy. Although, the breakfast is basic (muffins, toast and cereal) but it’s free!

We got a last minute midweek deal and gambled on this place. Our gamble paid off. We loved the high ceilings, fireplace, quietness, easy parking and decent pricing. The staff was friendly and we didn’t find anything to complain about.

Very friendly service and graciously let me check out late after I wen scuba diving in the morning but the sheets were scratchy and there was a bad case of ants in the bathroom that got into my toiletries

The Cannery Row Inn’s best attribute is its location in Monterey. It sits right on a walking path that will bring you to Cannery Row and the wharf. The hotel itself was clean and basic, and we got a great rate on the Hotel Tonight app. We ended up in a king room with a small balcony that included a partial ocean view. It was nice to sit out there and check out what was going on. All in all, the hotel is a great value as it is clean, in a good location and includes a continental breakfast. I think it is good for a night or two, but I’m not sure that I’d stay here for a week-​long trip.

Great location between cannery row and fishermans wharf. Room was sufficient with a partial ocean view 110. Too bad there is another building going up that will block their ocean view. Even with that our stay was so pleasant we will come again soon.

I do not like posting negative reviews and darn I seem to be on a string of them. I suppose that the inn has some positive characteristics. Most importantly it is within walking distance of Fisherman’s Wharf, the Aquarium and all that tourist stuff. Think free parking. But you cannot park before 3pm and must be out by noon. The bad. I think, though I am not sure that the elevator from the parking lot is not available from some time in the evening. The rest of the time anyone can take the elevator into the inn and go anywhere without ever checking at the desk. Scarey. Then I woke up in the morning sore. This is the first time since I started on Unilocal in 2009 that I have had that complaint. In am not sure that two stars are earned. At half the price, yes. Then, this is Cannery Row so I am letting it go. It is clean, my wife had no problem with the bed. I would not do it again.

We payed $ 255 for a Friday night stay in July 2015. The hotel is at a great location — just a minute’s walk to the ocean. The walk to Cannery Row was about 5 – 10 minutes. The walk to Fisherman’s Wharf was also about 5 – 10 minutes the opposite direction. Parking was great. They even let us keep our vehicle there for a bit after check-​out.
We were in room 209, which faces Foam Street (all odd-​numbered rooms face this way). The room does not have air conditioning or a fan, so we had to keep the sliding door open all night. The noise from the street was loud. Not only from the constant stream of traffic, trucks, etc, but also from people walking by late into the night. Both my husband and I had a horrible night’s sleep.
The room itself was OK– it was nice that there was a mini fridge and microwave. The bed and linens were pretty comfy, but the pillows were ridiculous. They were the size of throw pillows and felt like they were stuffed with lumpy cotton balls. The bathroom was fine — nothing spectacular, but it looked clean. The vaulted ceiling was nice and made the room feel more spacious.
The complimentary breakfast was OK, but the little room was a bit of a mad-​house. The ladies attending to the food/​plates could not keep up. There were no bowls/​plates available when I first arrived. Also no coffee, waffles, and very low on fruit. I waited for a bit, and they replenished items (albeit slowly). They had trays available, so I plated up some items to eat in the comfort of our room. Offerings were Yoplait yogurt, pineapple, melon, bananas, apples, danishes, poppy seed muffins, chocolate muffins, bread, english muffins, waffles, granola, rice krispies, cheerios, milk, OJ, cranberry juice, almond milk, soy milk, coffee, decaf coffee, hot water, and tea.
Overall, this was just OK. I don’t think it was worth $ 255. If you plan to stay here, I would make sure you get a second floor room facing the ocean (even-​numbered rooms).

it smelled up and down the hallway all into the room. Can’t really explain the smell. The screen door was broken and to the patio which was next to the office. People ended up smoking on the patio so we had to shut our door. The receiver to the TV was so janky it was being held up between the TV above it and the wall. There is no AC, only heater. Good thing it’s only a block to the beach so it was a nice walk there and back. Very good deal for last-​minute booking couple days before.

We enjoyed our stay at the Cannery Row Inn. We liked that it wasn’t a large hotel, so we didn’t have to deal with long check-​in lines, long elevator waits, long hallways to get to our room nor did we have to deal with the typical hotel parking craziness. Hotel parking here was easy, uncrowded, and FREE.
It’s a quaint hotel located walking distance to some main Monterey attractions — Cannery Row, Fisherman’s Wharf, Monterey Bay Aquarium. There’s also a great running path a few steps behind the hotel. Close driving distance to 17-​mile Drive too.
Our room was clean and equipped with a flatscreen TV, a good-​sized mini fridge with a freezer, a microwave, an easy-​start fireplace (just one on/​off switch), easy to use thermostat (one knob to adjust the temp just right), hair dryer, fan, and, iron & ironing board. They also offered organic shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, and organic coffee.
Our stay included a nice, complimentary Continental breakfast.
Nothing fancy, but it was a good price for all that this hotel has to offer — great location, nice amenities, free parking, and friendly staff.

I recently went on a spontaneous short two-​day mini vacay with my boyfriend to monterey! We decided to stay here because of the many times I stayed here before growing up and going on family vacations to monterey.
I booked a room through
and to my mistake, I booked a room with two queen sized beds… and because it was just my boyfriend and I. that was awkward.
When I realized my mistake, I immediately called the hotel telling them what happened and the girl on the phone said they could just upgrade us to an ocean view room with a king size for the same price. I was sooo happy it wasnt going to be a huge ordeal and happily took the offer.
We got there around 7:30 pm, checked in and got to our room. It was clean, spacious, the bed was super comfy (and I’m EXTREMELY picky about my pillows) and there was a fireplace! We had no idea but were super stoked about it! We also loved the little balcony and actually sat out there a few times to play checkers.
Their continental breakfast wasn’t anything huge, but was perfect for a small bite before walking down to the aquarium. It’s right across the street from the beach and is a pleasant walking distance cannery row.
Great price for the room and location! We will definitely be back!

A little pricey for what you get, no hot water pressure, bathroom remodel room was just Average. 250+ too pricey. Old carpet. Just needs a little TLC. Would not stay here again for the price. Good locate for town walking. Both Chairs in room wore out.

Watch out for this hotel. We asked for an ocean view room. They said we had to get a fireplace room in the back. We said ok and they sent us the reservation. Little did we know that the reservation needed to state ocean view. When we got there we didn’t get an ocean view. We got a room way down at the end of the hotel. The last room, in the old quality inn. The room was definitely not worth what we paid. No water pressure either !

Not bad for our weekend stay in Monterey. Room was clean, king size bed was comfortable, hot water and shower pressure was good. We had a fireplace in our room that kept us warm since we’re not used to 50 degree weather! Walking distance to cannery row and the aquarium. Nice beach dog friendly area once we walked out of the hotel bldg. Not bad at all for what you pay for. Staff were also welcoming and friendly.

Had my first stay at this modest, clean, quiet motel: it was for one night, mid-​week, reservation made 5 days ahead of time. When I called to confirm, they offered me a free room upgrade, which I accepted.
My room was nicely equipped with one very comfortable king bed, a wall-​mounted TV, small microwave and fridge, and a gas fireplace. Although there was a working wall heater, the fireplace was more than adequate to warm the room quickly. The bathroom was quite large and had sturdy grab bars in all the right places.
The Cannery Row Inn is a block from the beach, and has a large, shared deck on the main floor. By «shared» I mean that several rooms, including mine, give directly onto the deck. My visit was in mid-​December, so no one was using it, but it’s easy to imagine a glorious summer morning having complimentary coffee and juice and admiring the view.
My only minus was the complimentary breakfast, which was very heavy on carbs, but included virtually no protein. That said, the pastries, fruit, milk, and juices looked fresh and appetizing. The coffee was fine, too.
I’ll stay with them again.
