Sapp Violins provides stringed musicians with a consistently high level of Quality Workmanship. Greg Sapp has been providing restoration, repair and tonal adjustments to Concert Level Musicians for over 32 years. In addition, the Customer Service provided by Sapp Violins is second to none.

History

Established in 2006.

Greg and his wife, Mary Ellen (Mel) originally started the Montgomery location in order to provide setup services to large stringed retailers (thus explaining the «out of the way» location). It was later determined that there was more of a need for a full service violin/​viola/​cello shop and in November of 2006, the store was opened for business.

Montgomery is the primary location for Sapp Violins and the majority of the making, restoration and repair is performed here. In addition, Montgomery warehouses the inventory of instruments and bows that Sapp Violins offers for sale.

Greg Sapp graduated from the Kenneth Warren & Son School of Violin Making (now the Chicago School of Violin Making) in 1981. After working for the prestigious firm of Kenneth Warren & Son for 14 years (8 of those as head repairman), he worked out of his house for 14 years. During this time he provided high level restoration services to shops throughout the country. In 2006, Greg and his wife, Mary Ellen (Mel), opened a retail shop in Montgomery, IL. Since that time, they have opened a satellite shop in Wheaton, IL and maintain a repair studio in Chicago.
