Established in 1996.

Dr. Giovanisci started practicing dentistry as an associate in this long established practice when he graduated from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in the summer of 1987. USC Graduate 23 years. He became the sole owner of the practice when he purchased it from his predecessor on January 1, 1996. He went on to study orthodontics in 1997, and now offers orthodontic care (including Invisalign) to his adult and teen patients. He hired Dr. Romola Mascarenhas as his associate in 2002, and the two have provided quality dentistry to adults and children in the Foothills 6 days a week ever since (including evenings and Saturdays).

Dr. Steve was born and raised in the Philadelphia area till he moved to Southern California in 1974. He graduated from St. Francis High School in La Canada, went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Santa Clara, and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1987. He has practiced in the Foothills ever since. He has been married to his wife Catherine since 1985, and they have 3 children; Nicole, Chris, and Joey. Dr. Steve enjoys movies, theater, football, skiing, playing ice hockey, and being a dentist in this great community.

This doctor and his office are professional, friendly, and accommodating. Our whole family needed a group appointment, and it was a first time for our toddler. Dr. Giovanisci did not scold us for taking a few years off between dentists. Rather, he got to work to make sure we were healthy. The office staff are outgoing and intelligent. I trust them to get my appointments, paperwork, and cleanings correct!
I picked him because another reviewer slammed him for parking in a church lot — but he countered that he paid the church to park there. His response was professional and justified. I chose him based on this because a person must stand up for themselves justifiably before they can understand the treatment folk will expect from them.

I have had some serious dental work from below average dentists my entire life. I went to Dr. Steve and immediately realized how every dentist SHOULD be. He is caring, thoughtful, listens to all your concerns, and is an all around amazing guy. His main dental assistant was very kind and patient while taking xrays as I always gag and tear up (but I didn’t with him!). The receptionists greeted me with a smile on their faces even though it was very late at night. Everyone here seems to really love their job. I would recommend them to anyone who cares about their teeth!!! Will be returning at least every 6 months for preventative care. Thank you Dr Steve and staff, you are amazing.

I have been coming here for quite some time now, and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. I’ve heard stories about other practices and I gotta say Dr. G and Doctor M. are great! Don’t waste your time seeking out anyone else, they are the most professional and caring group. I have been in the Hospitality industry for over 10 years and I know what good service is and they got it!
They are fast, efficient and extremely professional. I feel like sometimes they are so good I never have to question anything. I come in, if there’s a problem with my teeth they take care of it. No nonsense.
Not to go on and on but I was in the other day for a Cavity fill, and it was so efficient the way they do things, I walked in, I didn’t even stop moving they brought me right back, asked how I was, was genuinely curious about how I was doing and what I was up to these days. So great! When the cavity was being filled The Dr. and staff made me forget that I was getting a cavity because they are so calm and reassuring to the point where it’s done and you are all set to go.

Another trip to Dr. G’s office last week. After a regular cleaning, the doctor thought it was time to do something about an ill-​fitting crown, upper right molar. We had discussed this in the past. Dr. G and staff fit me into the schedule right away. Days later, the new crown was ready. I was able to come in the next day. It’s been a week with this new porcelain crown and it feels as natural as the real thing did many years ago.
This is a typical experience at Dr. G’s office, as has been over the last 20+ years. His staff, office personnel and associates, seem to have caught the Customer Service fever. They are fine examples of how a dental office should be run. The service has been excellent and the dental care is the best ever received in my 70 years of dental experience. No exaggeration here. I have had much dental work with a number of different doctors. Dr. Giovanisci and the entire team is the best.
I read the other reviews on Unilocal.Just can’t understand the comments of one of the ‘unhappy’ reviewers. There has never been a parking problem for me or my friends. As far as arrogance, The person must be talking about someone else. Over-​bearing pride or self-​importance is the definition of «arrogance». How can someone make such a comment when this entire office dedicates themselves to treating each person as the most important one in the office — especially Dr. G and his dental associates?

Dr. Giovanisci performs his craft in a precise and thorough way. You can tell he really loves what he does by how knowledgeable he is and how he takes the time to explain things and is driven toward giving you perfect dental health. He is also very caring and sensitive to the needs of his patients and has an excellent chair-​side manner. He has a great personality too.
The office staff is calm, helpful, and very attentive as well, and in all the years we’ve been visiting this office, there has NEVER been a long wait for anything. Even during a busy spell, they never seem to overbook (like a lot of doctors seem to) and have always made us feel that we and our time are the priority, not just theirs.
Also, a special thanks goes to Nancy for squeezing me in during a completely booked day for a minor adjustment to a new crown just so I would have a comfortable bite before the weekend.
You will not go wrong by going to these guys. I was referred by one of my bosses and we feel very lucky to have found this dental office and Dr. Giovanisci.

I became a happy patient 3 years ago when I moved to Glendale area after leaving my lifelong Dentist who was all the way out in Century City adjacent. I’ve been with Dr. M, who works for Dr. G, and I think she is the best dentist I’ve ever seen. I can’t say enough wonderful things about her… just a few… kind, funny, interesting, patient, informative, VERT VERY experienced (USA and also Australia before that — imagine two dental school stints and education doubled…) Although I’ve never met Dr. G, he always gives me a wave and a hello, very nice… very nice to do that from the owner and main dentist even if someone isn’t his direct patient.;…I just love this dental office, I really do. Great job on a great practice, Dr. G.

I have known Dr. G for many years. possibly 15 years. He is a great Dentist and Orthodontist! My son has had his orthodontist work done with Dr. G and now I am getting my teeth finally taken care of to straighten them with braces and he is very thorough. My teeth cleanings have always been done with lots of care no matter whom his office staff take care of me. He has great staff and they are always helpful and cheerful. He also has coffee in his office and a fun fish tank for kids. I think you can find a fish like Nemo in his tank. Also our sons went to boy scouts together and we were on a trip to go snowboarding. he is a great guy even away from the office. Very professional and friendly! I would definitely refer Dr G to my friends and family.

We took our 3 year old to his first dental appointment at Dr. Giovanisci’s office this past weekend. I have to say we were quite apprehensive as to how this would go. Our little guy is open to new things, but if he doesn’t like something, he sure let’s us know! (as most of you with 3 year olds can attest to, I’m sure!) This was his first trip ever to the dentist, so we were nervous!
Well, I have to say that this place blew us away! Dr. M — one of the dentists that works with Dr. Giovanisci — was absolutely fantastic! She took lots of time and showed our son what each and every tool was used for before ever using them on his teeth. She explained everything from the mirror thing to the suction devices, let him try them so he wasn’t afraid, and demonstrated the scraping on his fingernails before ever even touching his teeth. As a result, our son not only was fully willing to let Dr. M work on his teeth (counting and cleaning them), but even told us that he had FUN at the dentist! Wow. To top it off, they gave him a little toy and a toothbrush for his bravery. The dental assistant was also very friendly and our son opened up to him right away too.
Highly recommended! We’ve already referred another family to Dr. Giovanisci’s office, and have made appointments for Mom and Dad too!

Let me start off by saying that prior to going to Dr. Giovanisci, I was terrified of going to the dentist. However, my wisdom tooth was causing me great pain and I had no choice but to go to the dentist. Dr. Giovanisci was able to see me on a list minute’s notice to remove my tooth. The procedure was painless, and he made sure that I was comfortable. He and his staff are not only friendly, but professional. On top of that, the office is nice and clean. If you want a dedicated and thorough dentist, come to Dr. Giovanisci!

I have been going to Dr. Giovanisci for almost ten years and my husband just started going since his dentist retired. I used to be terribly afraid of going to the dentist and have had bad experiences in the past. Not with Dr. Giovanisci! I completely trust him and his staff. They have Saturday and evening hours to accommodate people who work full time. He is excellent at his expertise as is his staff. If you have an emergency, they will accommodate you. Both my husband and I would not go to anyone else but Dr. Giovanisci. We now live in Chatsworth and commute to see him but we would never even consider changing dentists-​that is how much faith and trust we have with him and his office. I have recommended him to friends who have also had excellent experiences with him and his staff. I highly recommend him. He is extremely competent, compassionate and dedicated to the well being of his patients and their families. I have seen a number of dentists over the years but never had anyone as wonderful as Dr. Giovanisci! You will not be disappointed if you chose his office for your dental care needs.

I thought I would try this office as my long-​time family dentist in La Canada retired last year. Big mistake.
My first impression of Dr. Giovanisci… he is all about himself. Not much respect or care for the people around him. He is also all about the money. On my first visit, he did seem to know a lot about dentistry. However, he put a LOT of pressure on me for extra cosmetic services. He also gave me very little eye contact… creepy.
He did give a LOT of eye contact to every other woman in the office.
I won’t be bringing my family to this office or recommending my friends and co-​workers. It’s a shame for the doctor. I’m pretty active in the community and could have brought him a lot of business… maybe enough for him to buy a new sports car!

Usually I have enjoyed going to this office. However, last time was pretty annoying. They couldn’t find X-​rays that were right there in the file. The hygenist, «Maria», tore up my gums. [Avoid her.] And Dr. Giovanisci was putting on the hard sell to me and my kid for $$$ EXPENSIVE $$$ cosmetic dentistry costing thousands of dollars, and making her feel bad about how her teeth look. What’s the matter, did he buy a fancy house and needs to pay for it? Well, I don’t want to pay for it. Dentists in Los Angeles [and regular people, too] need to get over this fixation they have with fake-​looking Hollywood-​perfect teeth. Get REAL, people. Don’t be so superficial.

Through Unilocal,I was able to discover this super friendly dental facility. I was looking for an orthodontist for my son’s braces and I found one in Montrose which is a few miles from my home.
Dr. Giovanisci was very professional. He is very thorough and sincere with his work. That prompted me to transfer my own dental appointments to this dental office.
Dr. Romola F. Mascarenhas was very thorough and gentle. Above all, It was a pain free visit!!!
I highly recommend them all. Super nice staff.

I like the fact that they have different staff members for different procedures. I don’t have to get referred to another dental office because they only do general dentistry there. The other great thing is they are open on Saturdays and late. I’m on my way tonight to have a tooth pulled at 7 30pm
