Pep Boys Auto Service & Tire

I went to replace my Car’s starter, as the problem was already confirmed by one the mechanics outside of PepBoys.
PepBoys were ready to replace it and take no responsibility if the car still doesn’t start as they didn’t diagnose and confirm the problem!!!, and if they do, they have separate charges which can rip u off.
However, I was promised a brand new starter and forced to compromise for a re-​manufactured one, after waiting and wasting one whole day at PepBoys.
Also, they have un-​necessary service and shop fee (hidden).
And now, exactly one year later, warranty expires and I had to replace my starter again.
A TOTAL RIP OFF!

I’d give these guys 2 stars, but unfortunately… I have not really experienced better.
A light on my dash came on and I figured it was a cylinder misfire. Stopped by Pep Boys to have a guy pull the code and, huzzah!, I was right. It’d been ages since my car had gotten a tune up. The guy told me to come back the next day, didn’t give me an appointment or anything.
I showed up early and was told they were too busy all day. Had to make an appointment. Showed up über early a days later, despite having an 8am time slot. Already, there were three sleepy, impatient-​looking people in the waiting area. I was told to have a seat while they hooked Lucy (my car) up to the computer and ran all the diagnostics.
This took… over two hours. And I think the only reasons they finally opted to talk to me was because I asked what the heck was taking so long and I was a young female. By the way, there is no seat free of the morning glare in the waiting area.
The guy at the counter gives me an outrageous quote which, without much more than a sour face on my part, he knocked down a few hundred dollars. Still, I was like, EH! He tells me this is wrong and this needs replacing and, oh, you have an oil leak.
I didn’t have an oil leak, I had a transmission leak (see my [negative] review of Subaru), and I fixed it. I started telling him what sort of crap Subaru had pulled a few months later, but nonetheless he took me out to show me what he was talking about. No, really, I explained, the leak was taken care of.
So ultimately, I got the tune up and ignition wire changes I needed. I too was offered a ride home, but I had my brother pick me up. There were 2 other cars inside when the guy took me into the garage, and I wasn’t called to pick her up until near close But whatever. I waited a few months before writing the review, just to make sure everything they did was copasetic. It is, and besides their annoying casual attitude toward time this Pep Boys is all right.

Once in a while I look on the miles on my car and notice it’s time for an oil change. This time I decided to try the PepBoys because my dad recommended it. I called them up on a weekend and they told me to head on down, so I did. The whole thing probably took under a half hour and the price was reasonable. Make sure you google discounts before paying because I was able to save a few bucks right at the register because I found a coupon code. The folks working here were friendly to me and to others who came in too. The waiting room is basic, but there’s a TV with cable and a remote. The water fountain works but the water tasted a little odd. I’m coming here for my next oil change.

I went in to get my brakes done first thing in the morning. I opted out of having someone drop me off at work and chose to wait for my car because I was told it would only take about an hour to do. This is what I tell my boss.
One hour becomes two. Two becomes three. Three becomes seven.
Supposedly one of the parts were old or rusted in so they have to order an additional part and have it shipped from another store. Yippee!
Now after wasting a vacation day sitting in an auto shop, I get my car back despite ‘complications’. I take my car for a test drive around the parking lot to find my brakes barely working. I have a mechanic test it (something which they should of done) and he says that there is too much air in the brake system. Thanks.
The store is closing in about ½ hour and at that point I have to leave my car there overnight for them to get my brakes to function properly.
It was an exercise in stupidity. The mechanic’s for their lack of skill and mine for choosing these clowns.
