Blake and his son are a fantastic team! They are both professional, thorough and genuine guys. Not only do they provide good reports, but they go above and beyond for their clients. They will answer any questions clients might have via email, phone or text and they are great problem solvers! Going through a home inspection report can be scary for a home buyer but Blake and his son help eliminate that stress by explaining which items are in need for «immediate repair» and which items might need attention down the line. Most recently, Blake provided a home inspection report for my clients home in Sherman Oaks. My clients had a LONG list of repairs that needed to be taken care of by the Seller and as a result Blake offered to come back to the property after the work was «completed» to verify it was all done. My clients were so relieved he came back because some of the work wasn’t completed. Blake helped to ensure it was all taken care of! My mom and I are business partners and we have been using Building Specs for years! They are always the first home inspection company we call for our clients.

Blake is as solid as they come. He and his son Nick did our inspection on our first home and were extremely thorough and easy to talk to. Nick is an experienced professional who thoroughly inspects all aspects of the home– plumbing, appliances, electrical, mold, other materials. He has an eye for detail and his reports are thorough. We recently used his services and he was patient with our questions answering all thoroughly and seriously. He has a passion for the work and is exceedingly helpful with follow up.

Blake Felton and his son, Nick are true professionals when it comes to home inspections. I utilized their services twice in the last month, and on both occasions they were on time, assessable to questions and providing an understanding, and complete in the inspection. Blake and Nick are extremely knowledgeable. They know exactly what to look for in a home inspection. They are always keeping up to speed on the newest building codes. The inspection report you will receive is very thorough and categorized so you will know which items are the most important to repair. They are always available to answer questions, and if you want to make sure items have been repaired properly, they will go back for a re-​inspection. I have been recommending them to all of my clients for their home inspections for 25 years and couldn’t recommend them more highly.

We bought a house near Granada Hills and was referred to Building Specs by our realtor. Nick arrived promptly and with a big smile on his face. We discussed the house and were ready to walk in. I turned to him and asked him to answer a question for me when he was done: «would you buy this house with a plan to stay and start a family?». We went inside and he got to work. He was incredibly quick and efficient– which is quite a task since there were 4 other people in the room talking loudly and bugging him with questions. He did things that I really appreciated– he took me or my husband to certain crevices and showed up what he was looking for, how to «fix» things if there was a problem. This is our first home– I had no idea what some things were. He turned on things that seemed ridiculous at the time. I swear he inspected every square foot of the place. Even though its a smaller home, he took his time, thoroughly explained things and was so fun to talk to. At the end of it, he turned to me and said that the answer to my question was yes. I was stunned he remembered, and tells you a lot about who he is.
A few weeks later, my sister bought a home and he came back and did the inspection there. Same exact process: prompt, courteous, efficient and knowledgeable.
I came onto Unilocal a few weeks ago to write this review. I read all the reviews before me and was a bit weary. It seems like things were caught during the time of the inspection. So I decided to wait a few months since we moved in and see how everything turned out. Everything is still perfect and our inspection was right.
I have become incredibly cautious of Unilocal in recent years. Many people find it as a way to punish or get this revenge on a company. Others ask bs people to rate them and give them 5 stars. The truth is, these reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt. even mine. An individual experience is one thing, but each home is so entirely different it’s impossible to try and give it a general structured review. I am very happy with my decision to go with Building Specs. I would recommend them to anyone and plan on using them again in the future. Thank you Nick for all your help– you were greatly appreciated!
