D.R. Domenichini Construction

I filled out the request for quote and was excited to finally move forward on our bath remodel. The reviews were glowing on this company so they were top of my list. Too bad I never even got to meet them as found the intro call insulting and very uncomfortable after he began with a list of reasons HE would consider interviewing ME for the job not the other way around. I was quite taken aback frankly and so upset I took the time to place this review. I felt like I was getting interviewed for some cool club and was getting rejected before I could even explain my project. I feel like they’ve really lost sight of who the customer is and maybe they have too much work. Beware!

I highly recommend David Domenichini. After filling out a quick information questionnaire on his website, I received a call back from him personally, and he made the time to drop by my home for an estimate.
David was prompt and professional in all of our communication and he is definitely a very hard worker and very knowledgeable in his field.
My highest recommendation to have him remodel the dream kitchen you’ve always wanted!

This is a little late from our project that completed this fall but felt it would be a huge miss to others if I didn’t provide my feedback. After all this is how we found D.R. Domenichini to begin with!
Remodeling is a stressful ordeal and to be honest now that the dust has settled I reflect fondly on our experience. We decided to remodel our entire kitchen which we thought would be fairly simple considering the layout.. .boy were we wrong! Scott and the team handled the weekly curve balls with ease and while it added to the budget and schedule a bit I couldn’t be happier. The team was respectful, clean and incredibly patient as they worked around our two dogs and our 6 year old! I absolutely LOVE my new kitchen!
I would highly recommend Dave and his team for any home construction project!

Fabulous experience with Scott and team. This is a highly professional organization that I trust to do the job correctly and to take care of any issues that may arise during the renovation process. We had new floor tiling and counter tops installed in our kitchen and new floor tiling and a vanity back splash custom made for our master bathroom. At all times Scott was a pleasure to deal with — very polite, respectful of our home and pet, and honest regarding challenges such as an uneven kitchen floor. Scott’s openness and honesty was greatly appreciated by us. He is one of those rare contractors that makes the time to fully explain options and timing to you and he also works closely with his team to ensure they fully understand the details for every task. I would highly recommend Scott to manage your project.

Great! I contacted this company regarding a leaking outside pipe that involved the main valve and sprinkler system plumbing. I realize they generally do much bigger jobs, but I had heard such good things about Dave that I wanted to see if they could take care of this job for my mom. The owner contacted me directly and within a day had an estimate for the job, and then had all the work completed within a short time and under budget! I am very thankful to know we have such an excellent, responsible caring company right in town. I recommend Dave and this company 110%!

We needed to re-​do our master bathroom & bedroom. The bathroom alone was a huge space — about 12×16 — and required a lot of work. There were mushrooms, questionable design choices from the early 90s, and possibly the smallest shower in the world.
We selected David and team after meeting wtih several contractors. They seemed the most amenable to our timeline, our design choices, and they clearly ran a tight ship.
They did a really amazing job on the bathroom and bedroom. I was delighted with the quality of the work, and am truly happy with the space.
Here’s some of the positives:
— Stayed on schedule: Scott and Amber (our two primary POCs) shared a schedule with us, and they met that schedule. They were transparent when things slipped, and how they were catching up later.
— Good design: We worked closely with Amber on design choices, and she was a great asset (and one of the big reasons we went with Domenichini over other companies). She really listened to our opinions, and helped us make great choices.
— Quality: It’s been a few months, and everything is still working well. When there were a few minor issues, they fixed them immediately.
— Cost: Stayed on budget.
I would absolutely recommend them!

We had a build-​in desk and cabinets that need to be taken off to prep for the new wall paint. I guess this is kind of an odd job, but Dave reached out to me and was able to put me on the schedule between their big projects.
Scott and Corbin came to our house on time and they started to work on it right away. Scott was really nice, and he went extra to help us go through our «work list» and gave us suggestions on any improvements that we have in mind. He didn’t up-​sale us to any remodeling but low-​cost DIY tips. Corbin was awesome, he worked on the cabins and made the tasks look so easy to finish — of course, it’s not easy. Then they came back in the afternoon to prep the wall, and didn’t charge us extra.
I would definitely hire them again in the near future for our bathroom remodel project!

We had Dave renovate 3 bathrooms, and part of our kitchen. Dave was true to his time line, finished on a timely basis. All his subcontractors/​employees were courteous and respectful. I would definitely use Dave again for any additional renovations we may have. He even had one of his employees come back to tweak our master bath shower hardware.

We’re delighted with D.R. Domenichini Construction. We’ve done several re-​models in recent years and knew exactly what we were looking for in our next contractor. Our most important criteria in choosing a builder were the quality of their construction, the ability for them to set a schedule and maintain it, cost, and someone we felt we would work well with. We interviewed four contractors before choosing DRD. With DRD we got everything we were hoping for and more. DRD stuck to their bid even though they hit some unexpected challenges that undoubtedly ended up costing them money. DRD set a highly detailed timeline and maintained it. When they hit unplanned obstacles they brought in additional personnel to stay on track. The quality of their work was first rate.
The unexpected bonuses of working with DRD were the uniformly high quality of their employees and subcontractors, how well they protected our home and maintained the jobsite, and the amount of attention devoted to making sure that every last detail was completed to our satisfaction. We even got a handwritten note thanking us for being clients! We’ll definitely use DRD again and feel very comfortable referring them to family and friends.

D.R. Domenichini Construction is a best in class all-​purpose construction company. I shopped around about 15 different contractors and D.R. Domenichini was clearly the most knowledgeable, experienced, and reasonably priced of them all. My project was a full remodel of the kitchen, removal of multiple load bearing walls, and a laundry list of other items. A very thorough and accurate quote was provided and there were almost no unexpected costs (aside from those I created after the fact).
D.R. Domenichini provided a thorough timeline of our project and stuck to it throughout the duration of the project. The staff was extremely responsive and personable. All concerns were noted and addressed promptly. Upon completion of the project all of my small concerns were addressed and I could not be happier with the results.
I am 100% satisfied with D.R. Domenichini Construction and will use them again for any future projects as well as refer my friends and family.

We had an odd assortment of projects that needed done: add doors here, adjust woodwork there, rebuild that deck, repair that other deck … and they came out and did a great job. As can be expected, the job took longer than we originally thought due to the normal construction «things» you run in to but it was all clearly communicated to us and not a real issue. The project came in over the estimate and Dave worked with us to find a fair solution. They even dropped off a bottle of wine for the holidays, weeks after the project completed! We have more work coming in the future and I will definitely call them again.

We reached out to D.R. Domenichini Construction in our bidding process because of all of the positive Unilocal reviews and photos of his work. We were undertaking a significant remodel of the house (entirely new kitchen, removing a wall, moving doors, refinishing floors throughout the house, and more.) We are pretty handy and had previously taken on a lot of remodeling projects on our own. As a result, our standards were high and we were wary of remodel/​contractor horror stories.
Dave and his team exceeded all our standards and then some. A few standouts:
— Dave takes the good relationship with the client very seriously. Surprises are inevitable on a job of this size, and when they arose Dave was incredibly honest and fair. He even chose to cover the cost for an item that other contractors would have likely said was our responsibility.
— We lived in the house for the entirety of the 6 week process, and his team kept the work area immaculate and well sealed off from the rest of the house so it never felt like we were living in a construction zone.
— Dave and his foreman Scott where immediately responsive to all of our questions and concerns. Not only could we always get a straight answer, but both of their standards for workmanship from their crew were top notch. They didn’t hesitate to ask the team to redo something if it wasn’t to any of our liking.
— Dave recommended that we work with Lazy Susan Designs for the kitchen, which was one of the best decisions we made. They have a terrific relationship, and Ann Marie not only got us a quote very close to what we had from Lowe’s but managed the relationship with the cabinet place seamlessly. When parts came in damaged, they were immediately replaced and resulted in no work stoppage.
— The entire project came in on time and on budget and was simply beautiful. We couldn’t ask for anything more.
We feel very lucky to have found and worked with Dave and his team. We recommend him now to all of our friends with zero reservations!

I cannot imagine hiring anyone but Dave and D.R. Domenichini Construction for any of your construction or remodel projects! From start to finish, our project has run like clockwork. Who starts a complete kitchen remodel right after Thanksgiving and finishes before Christmas? Dave does! Every subcontractor that has entered my home has been courteous, clean and very professional. From kitchen cabinet design (Lazy Suzan Designs, also a 5 star company!), to the granite guys, painters, plumbers, electritians, hardwood floor guys, appliances (Andy at University Electric, highly recommend!), and all the guys who work directly for Dave, I just can’t give them enough praise. Dave starts out with a very detailed estimate of all the work needed, even anticipating things that could possibly come up during the process, so you will rarely be surprised by extra cost overruns. We ended up having to refinish and repair our hardwood floors, and our project still came in on time and on budget. Dave checked in on the work daily, and also had an onsite project manager (Rogelio, an absolute gem!) who worked on almost every aspect of the job. Everyone is very detailed oriented, which I very much appreciated. Cracks were noticed and fixed, patch work was needed in the cieling and repaired so well you could never tell there had ever been a wall there, light switches were upgraded to the latest designs, finish carpentry done to perfection, water damage to hardwood ripped out and repaired, 1970’s electrical and plumbing upgraded to code, windows replaced, I could go on and on. I literally had not one moment of stress during this major remodel, and it was done during the Holidays! I cannot recommend Dave and D.R. Domenichini highly enough. My kitchen is stunning!

We’ve used several contractors over the years and none really stood out one way or another. When deciding to remodel our kitchen, we looked around for a while and found DRD Construction. Excellent work, done on time. We are very pleased. We will be using them again soon and recommend them highly!

Ok… after my post, there was pretty much an immediate response from the owner. I received a phone call the next day, and a walk-​through within a few days of that. A few days later, all of the misses were resolved, including paint touch-​ups and my missing outlet move.
Dave could have done a bunch of things; he could have just brushed this review under the rug, as this was work done several months ago. He didn’t, however; instead, he wanted to fix the misses and resolve the communication issues.
He’s made us fans, and we’d highly recommend them to others.

Responsive, responsible and right on time… all the attributes you want from a contractor. I did a bathroom remodel on a tight schedule. Dave and his crew went with me to pick out the tiles and equipment. They were easy to reach by phone for those times that I went off to pick our shower equipment but needed to chat on my choices over the phone. They did everything as promised on time. The construction was done neatly. As well, they always corrected any quirks or issues quickly and without any haggling. Highly recommended. On top of all this, the job was top notch, with beautiful results.

We hired Dave Domenichini (and his subcontractors) to install a new granite kitchen and a whole house fan in our home we bought two years ago because of his awesome Unilocal rating and his competitive bid. However, from the start he complained that our «little projects» really weren’t worth his time and he brushed aside our personal preferences along the way. When I first posted this review two years ago Dave called me on my phone almost in tears. I felt so bad that I removed my review at that time. But the need to speak up for everyone continued to nag me, so here goes:
1) Mr. D has a very strong personality, condescending, and a «Dave knows best» attitude.
2) The attractive decorative piece we wanted left over the stove in our kitchen was torn down to my wife’s disappointment.
3) The kitchen sink spay nozzle was installed for a left-​handed person, the opposite of what I requested. Dave had his reasons which made no sense to me. I finally climbed under the sink and switched things around myself so we could actually use it. It works like a charm.
4) But the worst issue was the whole house fan. The installer wired it to an existing circuit and the breaker tripped constantly so we couldn’t even use it. We finally hired a professional electrician who had the problem fixed within an hour.
5) Also, Dave insisted on installing a one-​hour timer for the whole house fan even though I had requested an 8 hour timer. But Dave said he knew best and put in a one-​hour timer. All summer long I found myself having to run upstairs and restart the fan several times a day. I finally had an electrician replace the one-​hour timer with an 8 hour timer and now can set it for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. It’s a dream.
I give Dave 3 stars «A-​ok» because he was very prompt and other than what I mentioned above we do love our new kitchen and whole house fan.

We hired LazySuzanDesigns (Ann Marie McCauly) to do a custom cabinet/​kitchen design. She came highly recommended so we met with her. In our discussions with her she indicated that in the hundreds of remodels she worked on, the best contractor she ever worked with was D.R. Domenichini Construction. Based on her input and extensive research for a contractor to do a complete kitchen and laundry room remodel, we thought Domenichini was the way to go. To be sure, we looked at Unilocal and found that the contractor with the most outstanding reviews was Domenichini Construction. Based on this we checked around and found a couple people we knew who had used them, or had close family/​friends who used them. Those word of mouth reviews were better than what we read online and corroborated Ann Marie’s personal experience. Given all this positive input we hired D. R. Domenichini Construction.
What a great choice! Dave and his crew, as you have read in the countless other reviews, are excellent. They are timely, communicative, professional, courteous, and experienced. All the traits you want in a contractor without all the hassles that normally come with a contractor. In our previous house we did several large remodel projects and transformed the house over a 10 year period. While we had generally acceptable service from the contractors we used, they were not even close to the level of integrity and quality of Domenichini. It is hard to communicate on Unilocal how enjoyable it is to have a contractor whose team shows up every day on time, ready to work, makes fantastic progress daily, and then cleans up EVERY DAY so the impact to your daily life is minimized as much as possible during the construction! They even brought their own towels and soap to wash their hands and clean up in our bathroom so they did not use our products!
In this current job we replaced the entire downstairs floor in our home with marble floors, installed NuHeat heated flooring under the tile in the kitchen (awesome decision!), did a complete kitchen and laundry room remodel, and put granite and tile backsplash on our outdoor BBQ island. The remodel took the entire space down to the subfloor/​wall studs and they rebuilt from the ground up. We relocated our built in fridge, moved our double oven, changed the size and configuration of our kitchen island, installed a pocket door between the kitchen and laundry room to save precious space, installed all new custom cabinets, pantry cabinets, custom marble backsplash, relocated appliances to the island, and moved from down-​draft cooktop venting to a custom range hood overhead system. It was an extensive amount of work.
The entire job was completed within a few days of the original estimation of time even with some major roadblocks that popped up along the way, like our subfloor having 1.125 inches of concrete instead of the estimated .5 inches! This took an extra week and extra manpower to dig out all the extra concrete flooring. Dave and his crew communicated the issue, developed a plan, and then executed flawlessly. They then built the new floor back up using lasers to get the floor perfectly even over 5 distinct spaces flowing throughout the house. The floor is impeccable, flat, and beautiful!
Bottom line, you have a lot of choices of contractors to choose from, but few will provide the level of service, quality, integrity, and professionalism that D. R. Domenichini provides. I encourage you to at least have them bid your job and meet with them. You will be happy you did!

Executive summary: Would not hesitate to use their services again. Great communication; great pricing; and an excellent, top notch end product with only a few minor process «bumps» along the way (and if you have ever done a remodel before, as have I, a few minor bumps are no big ‘thang as the alternative can be an absolute disaster).
Here is the break out: (4.5 rounded up to five above)
End product: Five stars. They redid the bathroom, including installing all new tile floors, tile shower walls, new fixtures, new toilet, new vanity, moving the exhaust vent, installing a shampoo «niche,» painting the unit, and moving the mirror in the bathroom. The result was fantastic, and was much better than I would have expected, given the size of the bathroom.
Cost: Four stars. Very competitive: started off below the competition though by the end it was even. («Bump» number one: I had to pour a bit extra money into the project to get the mirror moved so it sat flush over the vanity; but in fairness to them, they told me I could use a «remodeler» separately to conceptualize the project, as their services are not primarily aesthetic, but more meat-​and-​potatoes decon and installation. They definitely were not pulling a «bait and switch;» it’s just that things didn’t work out without redoing part of the project.)
Communication: Five stars. Very responsive and very clear about what the customer must bring to the table to get things done on time. Word of advice: If you do not like to do your own shopping for the MANY items you will need for a full redo on a bath or kitchen, let them know that at the front end of the project, as I found that it takes a LOT of time and patience to assemble all the «ingredients.» David will assist; but a lot is up to you. I don’t mind, since I enjoy home repair shopping.
Process: Four stars. For the most part, the process was five stars. However, word of advice: Read through exactly what they will do in their specs and verify as things proceed. «Bump» number two: I missed the part about removing one of the cabinets and more or less impliedly waived the removal once they failed to do so. Again, no bad faith on their part, so much as an oversight on the part of both parties.
Employees: Five stars. «Scott» (site manager) was great. And the day-​to-​day tech was «Edgar» — a real treasure. He was on time, polite, low key, and unbelievably skilled at what he did. Oh, and he worked his *** off to get things done on time.
Independent contractors (??): Four stars. I believe the install team on the tile were ICs. They did a five star job on the install, and that is what really matters. «Bump» number three: Unlike Edgar, however, they brought a radio to the site and also appear to have tried to drum up some extra business with the neighbors. No real big deal in the end and they were certainly nice enough guys and, as noted, were total profs on the install.

I will cut to the chase first. The project (a complete kitchen remodel) came in on time and within the original budget. Our new kitchen looks fantastic.
Now, the details.
We found D.R. Domenichini on Unilocal while looking up another contractor for a kitchen remodel. Because of all the very high ratings we brought them in for a bid. We were impressed with the ideas they had, the knowledge and the willingness to work within a budget. The timeline they laid out was aggressive and we had heard so many stories of other contractors that we were worried they assured us. Their pricing approach of nothing upfront and payments spread throughout the job at even intervals, with the final payment when complete, put us at ease.
The crew was highly respectful, did a great job of covering exposed rooms as to not get dust on them and completed the tear down very quickly. As promised they progressed through the job and kept us well informed. Nearly twice a week, we would would have a conversation about the next steps. They coordinated the timing with us on purchasing and delivery of all materials from the granite to the appliances and everything in between.
At one point they just put up tile back-​splash and my wife didn’t like the color she chose. She felt a little awkward in bringing it up but when we did, they were very supportive — just saying «we want you to love your kitchen.» They were able to squeeze the change order in at minimal cost because we were on schedule for the entire job.
When the job was in the final week, we were also very impressed at how the meticulous they were to point out any touch-​ups or areas that needed to be fixed. In fact, when I made my list up of about 12 things I noticed that weren’t perfect, they had found each one and about 4 more — all got fixed to perfection.
Now, we are extremely satisfied and have a truly remarkable kitchen makeover.
