I used to go to this guy after our benz c230 2005 warranty expired– issues– he does not use Mobil 1– insist Pentosin is better– is he better than the car manufacturer? His certificates are outdated– does he even update with the new ones?; You can’t talk to the guy he is always right; one time the rear window shade was stuck — instead of seeing us instructs us what to do and we broke te part instead what a jerk:

Fred’s European is a great shop to take your Mercedes or other European cars. Fred and his team are very knowledgeable, and always do a great job fixing our cars. They are reasonably priced compared to other shops in and out of town. What is more important is I trust his shop and their recommendations. So far, he has not let us down, and my cars are running smoothly. I have been a client for several years, and plan on continuing to have my cars serviced and fixed there. Took our 8 year-​old xc90 in and we had a great experience. Fred seems very knowledgeable and is reasonably priced. Also seems like a great guy! He even vacuumed our car and it was filthy! I would definitely recommend him for any euro car. Thanks Fred! It’s comforting to have a knowledgeable European car mechanic nearby who is honest and great at what they do.

My response to the business owners reply:
You ‘called your lawyers?” Almost half of all your reviews on this one site alone are negative and pertain to you «scamming them» or suggesting others «beware», as far back as 2009, so it’s not just me who feels this way. Instead of making comments like «I know who you are and where you are», which by the way, is very disconcerting, you could take them to heart and reevaluate some of your business practices. I’ve no doubt you are good at what you do, and its’ obvious you have a passion for what you do. You did come highly recommended, and I took that to heart. But threatening people such as myself is not the way to correct issues or customer concerns. I understand you being upset, but had you messaged in me in private or even been kind, perhaps I could have reevaluated what I chose to write in my review or even re-​rate it based on your words alone to apologize for my experience. I have no reason to lie, as you claim.
My review was an honest account on how you handled me, personally. You state you took up your ‘precious time walking outside to examine my vehicle” Really? One minute of time is precious to you? Aren’t you supposed to look at a vehicle prior to giving an estimate? And for the record, the part I purchased elsewhere was brand spanking new. It was neither difficult NOR impossible to get, as you so claim. A fraction of research, little bit of googling and within minutes, I had it ordered.
Furthermore, you most certainly did not say to me «you just don’t install used components due to inherent possibility of failure… That, sir, was not what you said at all.
And who worked on my car is none of our business nor anyone else s for that matter. Point is, HE did the job YOU didn’t want to unless you could make a large enough profit. That is my summation of my experience and I am entitled to write it. I did not ‘bash you’ as you want to claim. I wrote an honest review about a negative experience I had. I broke no rules with Unilocal nor within the guidelines of the law writing this review.

Came in for an oil change on my mercedes and the job was done well 4 – 5 stars. I’m giving 3 stars because when I called an Gave all my information on the phone I was quoted by Fred $ 120 for the oil change, 7 quarts, oil filter, inspection, replace light bulbs etc. when I showed up The bill came out to $ 140, I understand tax is about $ 10. When I asked what happened Fred just let me know «hey the dealership charges a lot more.» Which actually wasnt true cuz Beshoff in San Jose quoted me $ 99. I had already rescheduled my whole day around this, and didnt want to drive to sj, so I wasn’t going to change plans or start an argument, I just wish that would have been explained ahead of time.
I like Fred, seems like a hard working man who knows his stuff, I would enjoy coming back, just want more clarity next time and don’t want to be surprised.

Fred has worked on our Mercedes two or three times and I always have the feeling he spends much more time than what he bills for. Very honest and exceptional knowledge. Highly recommended.

Fred, the owner, is a straight-​to-​the-​point kinda guy — which is important when having your car serviced. I recently took my Mercedes to Fred for its 35,000 mile service. Efficient and easy. It’s so nice to find an honest and knowledgeable mechanic so close to home.

This place really tried to scam me. I took my car to the Mercedes dealership to get the my AC looked at because it was blowing hot. They told me that I was low on freon and just needed to get it recharged. So I took it to Fred’s thinking it would be cheaper. After he looked at it he told me that my AC was all messed up and needed to be repaired. I was obviously pretty surprised to hear this especially because the Mercedes dealership told me the only problem was I needed a recharge. Long story short this guy tried to charge me for AC repairs that were not needed. I was lied to and taken advantage of. The best part is that I was still charged 80 bucks for an hour of his time to diagnose my AC that wasn’t broken in the first place. I was pretty upset about this ordeal. I took my car back, brought it back to Beshoff motors, had it recharged, and have had a great working AC thus far. I’ve never felt more swindled in my whole life. The funny thing is that if I never would have had my car looked at by the Mercedes dealership I would have believed Fred and would have gone with fixing my unbroken AC. Heck I would still be taking my car to his establishment and probably be getting screwed over more. I’m disappointed and disgusted on how I was treated. I hope this review helps others from being swindled by Fred in the future.

Freds is awesome and the owner… Fred is a real character. Great service at a very fair price.
He saved me a lot of money when I needed my Mercedes CL500 fixed. The dealership was trying to… well, Fred’s has a very pictorial way to demonstrate what they were trying to do.
Car is fixed and I traded it in to go back and drive BMW’s.
I still wonder if Fred knows that I am German when we were talking funny about those Germans…

Fred’s is a great place to take your vehicle if you want an honest and thorough job done on your car at half the price of the dealer. I have a 911 turbo and Freddy has always done a great job of service and repair. So good, in fact that I take my family’s other two (non European) cars there. Fred’s by far one of the most honest and talented mechanics out there. The guy works his tail off, and knows what he’s doing. He looks at a car like a brain surgeon. I used to drive all the way down from San Francisco to see him. He may be a little pricier than his competitors, but you get what you pay for. Hes been doing this for years, I think somewhere around 30. I will remain a loyal customer!

Fred’s has take care of all 3 of our cars, BMW, Lexus, Prius through the past 10 years with no problems. They are very friendly and have us return a car several times without charge when problems persisted, as diagnostics is not always a one time look and fix.

Easy tire change disaster. I ordered 4 tires from the Tire Rack and had them delivered to one of their preferred installers «Freds European Asian Automotive». I took 2 of my in perfect condition rims to get the first 2 tires installed. I inform they are different size wheels and need the same size tires that are currently installed on each. They call me back ½ hour later to inform they have scratched 1 of the wheels and it will need to be repaired. I go down to check it out and they had not taken the time to look at the wheel hold down. Nice. Perfect custom wheel needs to get repaired and it takes a week. Pam (the front desk person) of course says no charge to fix the wheels and it will be no charge to mount and balance all of them due to their error. I then check out the other wheel and great they have installed the 245 on the 7 ½ rim not the 225 that should go on. So I wait a week (thank god this is not my main driver) and I have to call them to see if the rim has come back. Oh yeah they say been here since yesterday. Nice communication. So now it gets even better. The wheel they have repaired looks like crap. Not smooth, even looks like they clear coated it without wiping off dust. And it gets worse. The last 8 ½ rim he puts tire on Fred chips the paint and clear from right in the center and then says there is no way he could have done that and then he proceeds to require me to pay for all the mounting and balancing. He has a crowd in office and I don’t want to cause a scene so I pay and leave steaming. I have to now pay between $ 140 – 175 to have the wheel repaired, tire remounted and balanced. As I see it The Tire Rack needs to take this business out of their preferred installers. Horrible customer service.

What a nightmare! We took our Jetta in for repairs and had to return the car 2 more times within the week to fix a massive oil leak. Apparently the part they installed was «defective» as they explained to us. The entire bottom chassis of the car and engine was coated in oil from the leak. Our driveway was full of oil too. When we brought the car in for the third time we asked that they hold the car overnight to be sure they fixed their problem. They did fix it but they did not apologize or even offer to steam clean the engine. You think after having to bring the car three time they would have tried to save their integrity by offering to clean the car. Instead we were reminded of their lack of good business skills with the nasty smell of the oil burning under the hood.
