Specialties

We specialize in traditional barbering and straight razor shaving! We carry Layrite, Suavacito, Imperial and Shiner Gold pomade! We also can custom order all barber products and supplies! This shop has been in the same location since 1950. We have many north Morro Bay locals that frequent this shop. Also anyone traveling highway 1 can see this shop from the highway. Many of our customers also come from the surrounding communities of Cayucos, Cambria and Los Osos! It is spacious and comfortable!

History

Established in 1950.

This shop started as Rose’s in 1950 in a red building that is currently our parking lot, her son ran it for a while also before moving to Texas. In the mid 1960’s it was rebuilt in the location it currently sits with residential units above and commercial businesses on the first floor. A barber named Ron worked there in the 70’s, then in the 80’s Art a retired CHP bought it naming it Art’s Barber Shop, Art sold it to John after owning it about 10 years who named it Morro Bay Barber Shop. Mike’s Barber Shop took over September 2014 naming it Tiny Mike’s Barber Shop! We are the 8th owner according to the history we researched and from information provided from customers who have been regulars since the 1950’s! We specialize in traditional barbering and will shave with a straight razor!

There are only two places I’ll get my hair cut: Mikes and Tiny Mikes. Jon and his crew have created an old school barbershop feel that about more than just getting your ears lowered. Stop in, have a chat, sip a beer, and enjoy some time with your fellow man. Oh, and maybe get that mane of yours tamed while you’re at it.
On the theme of more than just a place to get your hair cut, ask your barber for a straight razor finish, beard trim, or sensual massage. Okay, just kidding on the sensual massage. Also, be sure to pick up your Mike’s schwag and let the whole world know where you got that slick ‘do.

Tiny Mike’s is great. A lot of skilled barbers, and good prices.
Mike used to cut my hair, but since he retired, Jon has taken over. For the past four years, Jon consistently impresses me with each haircut. He gives the best haircut I’ve ever had, and has an excellent memory. You can show him a picture of a haircut you want and he knows exactly what to do. He has a very close attention for details.
I’ve watched the other barbers cut hair and they are all great. I only go to Jon out of habit, but don’t stress about getting your haircut by the other staff. One of the other guys that works there literally used to cut Jon (the owner and my barber’s) hair.
I’ve had my haircut at $ 40 /​cut barbershops and the Bay Area, and they don’t even touch what these guys do.
Keep up the excellent work guys! You have a customer for life.

John Elliott from Mike’s barbershop has been cutting mine and my sons hair for quite some years now. I’ve been getting my haircut at Mike’s Barbara shop since I was a young kid Long before John Elliott ever owned the establishment. John’s attention to detail on haircuts is what has kept me going in recent years. There is something to be said about getting your haircut by somebody who loves what they do, it’s not just a job it’s a lifestyle. I highly recommend John Elliott of Mike’s barbershop owner/​technician to give you a haircut and a shave!
