Love this place! We stopped by to check out what seafood they had available since we were planning to make dinner at home that night. They had tons of options — all of which looked super fresh and delicious. Very reasonably priced as well.
We ended up getting some crab legs, shrimp, and scallops. We also picked up some of their homemade crab & shrimp boil seasoning which was recommended to us by the man working there. It was FANTASTIC and our dinner turned out amazing. We will be returning for sure!

I couldn’t imagine not having their crab cakes in the freezer as a staple, and the scallops are my new favorite. They always have fresh fish. Tuna, grouper, flounder, and shrimp are always good options. Don’t forget to ask for cooking tips. They gave us a stuffed flounder recipe that was divine.

Only place I ever go when at the beach for freshest seafood! Staff is always very helpful and friendly! Willing to do whatever it takes to make sure everybody leaves happy! Will always come back

While exploring Murrells Inlet, we ventured into Harrelson’s. There was plenty of fish on display and it all seemed fresh enough. We didn’t see any blue crab, but it was the end of August.
We didn’t actually buy anything as it was the last day before we left for home and we had already eaten. Just wanted to check out the place for when we return to the area.
Bottom Line: We’ll be back in when we’re in the area.

Very fresh and reasonably priced seafood. Great variety and a freezer full of the best crab cakes. Friendly and helpful staff.

Hugh disappointment. I moved to Myrtle Beach from NY. Looking for a good seafood Market/​restaurant. Their commercial lead me to believe they are a sit down restaurant… NOT. No one offered any assistance when we walked in. I decided to pickup their famous She Crab Soup, frozen crab legs and precooked conch. The soup was not world famous, the frozen crabs were dried out with freezer burn and the conch tasked like a poor imitation of a balled up crab cake.

Fresh and reasonable priced. Same quality as last year. Counter help /​recommendations wonderful.

I have been here for the past 5 weeks. A regular weekly customer, place clean, service is exceptional, so willing to help prepare for your purchases. If your going to buy fresh seafood this is your place to go.

Note: This is a review of the Crab Cake Lady’s shop which closed and I think merged with Harrelson’s, her sons. Admittedly, I’ve not been to THAT place but if they are carrying the Crab Cake Lady’s crab cakes and you’re considering them an option, see below…
Simply put, the Crab Cake Lady’s crab cakes are very mediocre to the point of being just plain BAD. This is quite sad since it appears to be a compelling story with a great character, a character that was the subject of a Samantha Brown Travel Channel segment, directing a bit of fame and notoriety An Mathis Springs’ way.
It’s a great story, indeed. What’s not to like about a 60 year old Grandmother that heads out in her skiff every morn to empty her Blue Crab pots to make «100% Blue Crab cakes made from USA Blue Crab meat.»
All that’s missing is GOOD crab cakes. Indeed, what is actually missing is lump, white crab meat, somewhat critical in making a good quality crab cake. The Crab Cake Lady’s crab cakes are stored in packs of six and 12 in a stand-​up freezer in the corner. These are not freshly made, all lump white crab meat. These are frozen pucks of more filler than not, with virtually no semblance of lumb crab meat anywhere. And to add insult to injury, they do not even taste good enough to toss into a sandwich for lunch, let along as a central subject for a dinner.
Pricing is ok. The $ 20 for six price is reasonable at only $ 3 and change per crab cake. But the relative bargain becomes a moot point after you painstakingly sauté the cakes in an All-​Clad pan in fresh butter for no more than three minutes a side, only to have a taste that best could be described as a mixture of cardboard filler with a hint of strange onion flavor that does not come together, even when topped with homemade rémoulade. This is not good.
I made the mistake of saving these crab cakes as the focal point for a last night meal. My mother failed to finish her second crab cake and the whole house was left shaking their heads in disbelief at how a place that specialized in something could turn out such a mediocre product. We actually felt duped.
I only hope they will read this review, perhaps looking into doing something to correct this issue. Maybe these crab cakes were good at one time. As of September 2010, they were anything but good.

Went on Saturday 8÷9÷2014. Purchased X-​lg shrimp, Grouper and Red Snapper. This was the freshest seafood I have purchased ever. Really! The Grouper was pan sautéed with seafood breaking that I purchased there along with Calabash sauce. Excelled in texture, flavor, and taste. The shrimp were as good. Taking the Snapper home for dinner tonight. If you are cooking in your condo or timeshare, this place is worth the ride.

This place is great! We got large peeled & deveined shrimp for an unbelievable price! They even steamed & seasoned it, too! (Wish they had put it in tinfoil & not plastic, though bc it about melted the bag). They are so nice & helpful, have a large variety of fresh, frozen, refrigerated, dry goods & even a few Farmers Mkt items like fresh tomatoes & corn! We will for sure go back for our seafood when in the area; we love this place!

Love This local fresh seafood location. You NEVER smell strong «fishy» odor here which means all seafood is fresh. Yes more expensive than large box chains but where did there fish come from not South/​North Carolinas that is in this store!

Love Harrelson’s! This is our go-​to for fresh seafood. Yes– it is more expensive than BiLo or any other grocery store, but I am always willing to pay more for higher quality seafood. The staff are so helpful and friendly; they will make you feel right at home and answer all of your questions.
Also, grab a bag of their seafood snacks for your pets! Our dogs LOVE them!

While in Garden City for spring break, we needed a place to pick up some fresh shrimp. Harrelson’s was the place — best shrimp we’ve ever prepared, and great prices. Very friendly and helpful staff. If you need seafood, go here!

The Crab Cake Lady Co. & Harrelson’s Seafood Market… supposed to be a Murrells Inlet Landmark. Well, they sure have been around a while, but man-​o-​man are they expensive. OK, so sure your fish are fresh, just out of the mouth of the inlet, but I did see a huge freezer full of frozen non-​indigenous seafood.
The Creek and Queen Rolls I was told by some locals were to die-​for. Yeah, I just about had a myocardial infarction when I saw the price on a frozen (no telling how long they were in the bottom of that freezer) bag of 10. $ 30÷10… that is one expensive egg-​roll. I spend $ 50 for 2 lbs of local medium shrimp and 10 egg rolls. Could have fed my family of 3 at one of the local restaurants for less.
Will likely get my «fresh seafood» from the Pig or BiLo. Oh, and the egg rolls, well they weren’t really anything to write home about.
Low score as Quality and Quantity of Food did not equal $$$ out of pocket.

These folks are serious about seafood, display cases clean, and the folks are friendly as can be. Walked in on fresh Black Grouper cheeks, 6 bucks a pound, couldn’t lay off.
Also found Melinda’s Habanero Catsup on the shelves, couldn’t lay off of that, either.
Prices were totally in line, iced my purchases and I’m totally a fan now.

After a 30-​mile bike ride I purchased a crab casserole to feed my hungry crew. Ugh! Were we ever disappointed! What we received was a bread casserole with crab flavoring. It should have cost $ 5 and not $ 25. Shameful! We ended up throwing away the entire pan of starch Based upon a previous review I expect the crab cakes are no better.

Great selection and fair prices. This will be my go-​to seafood market when I am in the area. Local clams were delicious, swordfish was fresh, and local shrimp were of good quality. Staff is friendly and helpful.

While on vacation we stopped here to buy shrimp to cook for dinner. Their shrimp was fantastic! Fresh and beautiful and I didn’t have any small shrimp mixed in with my large which I really liked. Some places like to do that to you and it totally pisses me off but that did not happen here. We also bought a pack of 6 frozen crab cakes to cook another night. Those were very good as well, a little more bready than I would have liked but good. Helpful staff. Also PRICES were very reasonable!
Just a note, they do NOT serve LUNCH anymore.

Terrible! It’s a shame all the hype for filler. Almost No Crab at all. Save yourself the hassle go to Murells Inlet Seafood for the Best Crabcakes in this area. What a disappointment..
