Been frequenting this establishment for years and am usually very happy with the service. However, I was sorely disappointed tonight. I called to find out their hours. There was 20 minutes before closing so I rushed like crazy to get over there. Got there right at 8pm and they turned me away. There was someone in line paying for their goodies, tables still full of patrons and a full staff behind the counter. I was really looking forward to a refreshing mangoneada on this hot summer day. Very poor business approach. Especially for an ice cream shop where most people take their sweet treats to go anyway.

This place was disgusting. The cashier immediately gave me attitude and yelled at us for«having a problem we should say it to her face». She immediately left to the back and her co worker apologized for her behavior. When we were walking out her and her other co workers in the back yelled out a racial slur. I will never come here again. I felt uncomfortable and the service was immature and profoundly unprofessional.

My family and I love this place. The ice cream is really really good, black cherry is my favorite. The also have a great variety in their menu aside from ice cream. A lot of Mexican desserts and snacks like diablitos, Tosti locos and magoniada. The place is clean, prices are good and staff is friendly.

Sign says open til 7(6:45 as I’m typing) 2 workers inside but doors are closed and girl at counter just provides a blank stare through the glass while her hoodie wearing boyfriend in his dropped whip waits to pick her up. This is how businesses lose customers… Good luck. This review is not based on the product as this would have been the first time trying it and unfortunately I didn’t get the pleasure. If it were possible to rate the employee only I would.

Shaved ice is good, not out of this world but it’s tasty. I gave them 3 starts because I don’t like being asked for a tip before I taste my food. They turn the screen over when you pay and are asked to tip, although it’s not a sit down place with waiters and its only desserts and snacks. Last time I was there I checked«no tip» on the screen and noticed the annoyed face on the girl. Their ice cream is also pretty good, about 2⁄3 of its flavors is Thrifty ice cream though.

Love this place but recently prices have gone up and the quality had gone down. Got a chamango with chamoy and it was basically water with a hint of chamoy. Not a raspado at all :/.

Delicious treats that remind me of San Diego. The mangoniada, chocolate shakes and escamocha are amazing! They slice up fresh fruit made to order. The mamey and cheese ice cream are must haves. When it’s warm outside, nothing in town beats Tocumbo.

This place is extremely HORRIBLE ! The girls there are so rude rip you off with what you buy. My ice cream was melted such a horrible experience ! My money will never be brought her again. The girls there were starring all of us down the whole time we were there.

I have been craving fruit salads, chili, and chamoy something fierce lately… And this place hit the spot! I got halfway through their«small» fruit salad and to say they’re generous would be an understatement! I had to ask Antonio G. to finish it off for me and he was more than happy to. It was a mix of cucumber, jicama, crunchy mangos, pineapple, and watermelon… Perfect for a 90*F day! We also shared a mangoneada which was great! …now I’m stuck listening to Tony go on and on about how these may possibly be the most perfect snack choices he’s had in his life. As for me, I’m more than content to make this a regular event.

My favorite place to take the kids for ice cream as well as myself for some toastilocos or mangoniadas. Great place and customer service but very small place for the amount of people that come in for their Mexican delights.

This place is a hidden gem. Went here to get dessert after seeing all the Unilocal reviews. The hug got a scoop of ice cream and I tried tostilocos for the first time. I liked everything in the tostilocos with the exception of the pickle pig skin(ugghh). I thought they were onions! I’m not familiar with mexican dessert so it would have been helpful if there were pictures on the menu board. Aside from that it was a great experience and I’ll definitely go back again.

We are back today after trying this shop last week. We are hooked. Friendly young people who enjoy their job. The mangoneada and chamango were great. Highly recommend this spot.

Finally had a chance to visit this place. Wasn’t disappointed… I kept it simple and had the house made lime sorbet topped with a little chili powder. It was light and refreshing. My son had the mangoneada, he expressed it was one of the best he’s had. Looking forward to trying a few of the other items they offer.

My 90 mile commute to TJ is no more! Thanks to this place! They have a huge selection of mexican goodies to oick n choose from, i always go for the tostilocos, tarygos or mangoneadas! Well served priced fair and always leave more than satisfied. No matter what i do in the course of my day, this place is always the highlight of my day! My only complain is that coming from a real Mexican, i must say, it wont hurt to add maybe one or 2 more sauces that are hotter!

This place was alright. The reason they get 2 stars, is only because the employees were very helpful. I got a mangoneada something I always try at different places. The icecream looked appetizing and I was excited to eat it and it had been recommended. I took the first bite and I inhaled chile powder, immediately started feeling funny. Later that night I started to have a tummy ache. I wished I would have enjoyed the ice cream but it upset my stomach.

Today was the longest Ive ever seen the line in there. It was out the door. I usually like to get a fruit water. They have a ton of different fresh fruit that they chop up in the shop right in front of you. I like watermelon water the best. There are a several different ice cream flavors to choose from as well. I usually stay away from the ice cream though. Some of the flavor choices are pretty tempting however like tres leches, and animal cookie. Today I got a Mangoneada. I asked for it with more mango and less ice cream, and to add chaca chaca and chamoy. Its pretty tasty but not all the mango pieces are firm like I like my mango. If you’ve never been to Tacumbo, you definitely should try it at least once to compare to similar shops in San Diego.

Business must always be good for cooling down since this area is known to have extreme heat. I happen to be in the area for the weekend, and wanted a cool down, Unilocal suggested Tocumbo. Mangonada is one of the most popular items so why not try it?! It was tasty and refreshing. The straw is even covered in the chili pepper, note that the pepper melts off quickly in the ice cream, which can make it too«spicy. «(Off topic: I haven’t had chili-pepper since I was little from the ice cream truck that would swing by after school.) One of my favorite parts about this item is the fact that real mangoes are used and the ice cream isn’t too sweet. Generous portion might I add. It’s also surprisingly filling as I wasn’t too hungry for dinner.
