A1 Naperville Taxi

We used this company many times in the past and had good experiences. Our last two experiences were horrible. I had to call a friend to leave her family on Christmas Eve to drive us to the airport. The driver didn’t show up and when I called repeatedly I was told just a few minutes and then just a few more minutes. They were going to be a half hour late when we called our friend. Last week they were supposed to pick us up at midway airport. After they told us to go outside and wait at door two, they acknowledged that the driver was still 30 minutes away. They ended up calling another company to pick us up. They used to be awesome… but something has gone seriously wrong

My last trip with them was a great experience. Both of the drivers on my trip to O’Hare and back were on time, where they needed to be, courteous and professional, and communicated every step of the way. This was no small task for my trip to the airport on Nov. 21 during that major snow storm. I will continue to use them for my trips and would definitely recommend their service.

Had a very early morning flight (6:30 am) withy husband and two kids (4 and 5)
We decided that it would be cheaper and easier to use a driving service. The driver was told 3 times to show up at 4:30 am. My husband is a very thorough individual and even called the day before. Well, 4:45 am rolls around and the driver is nowhere to be found. We then called and was told «whoops, sorry we have been having trouble with this particular driver. What’s your address. I can have someone there in a half an hour.» Well no time for that and we weren’t taking chances so we decided last minute to drive which meant packing our car up and reinstalling both car seats.
We called on the way to the airport and was assured that they would take care of our parking expense no questions asked. Just provide them with the receipt when we got back and they were sorry about the inconvenience. Well, we did just that. It’s been two weeks, we have called 5 times and faxed the receipt. The owner (Ken) answers every time
But when he realizes its Us he has an excuse to quickly get off the phone.
This place is sneaky and unreliable. I would avoid using this business at all costs!

Used this company and had James the first time, he was on time and the car was clean. He told us how their fleet was clean and reliable. No complaints. We booked a round trip to O’hare. We thought we found our new cab go to and then it all went downhill. When I was picked up for the return trip the cab was late and I had to call, then when I walked up I was picked up by an old, dirty, minivan. The driver was all out of sorts, the service engine light was on and she told she was a contractor so she doesn’t even actually work for them. I called and politely informed them of how disappointed I was and they acted surprised and that’s about it. I decided it was ok to make a mistake and give them a second chance. We used them again about a week later for another trip to O’hare. The pick up time came and went and no one showed up. I called and they said the driver was running late (this was Ken the dispatcher). 20 minutes after the pickup time Ken shows up and drove like a maniac, over 85 miles an hour. it was a shock we didn’t get pulled over or crashed. It sounds like they forgot all about our ride and then ran over all last minute. I am LIVID with their horrible service and we WOULD not use them again. James is about the only reliable part of this company. Just plain bad business.

Here’s the problem, our experience with James, the driver that took us to the airport, was great. He was very personable, responsible, and got us to where we needed to be on time. We never felt our safety was at risk. He helped us with our bags. That said, the guy who picked us up, I think it was Ken, was horrible. He was constantly on his phone texting (we have pictures), swerving, and speeding. I was on edge the entire time and felt very unsafe. He had difficulty helping us with our bags to the point where the other passenger with me just did it himself. In the future, if I am to use this company, I would want to be very specific about who drives me.

We had a great experience with A1.
I scheduled online (only 1.5 days in advance) and received a call back confirming within 30 minutes along with an emailed calendar event to confirm and add to my calendar. Our driver was punctual and got from Aurora to Midway in a very safe but timely manner. He was also very nice and the 4:30am casual driving conversation was comfortable.
My only qualm was that our fare was higher than what was on their website. It was only an extra $ 12, but that’s close to tip.
We will definitely be using A1 in the future if we can’t con a friend into driving us!

Ride to Midway was a mess. They obviously forgot about our reservation, so the driver was a half-​hour late. Then he drove DANGEROUSLY fast to make up the time. I had to tell him to chill, so we wouldn’t all die in a fiery car crash. Didn’t catch the name of the driver.
Ride home from Midway several days later was great. Mike is a great driver and very conscientious. Big thanks to him!!! Both times the cars were in good shape and pretty new and clean.
It’s hit or miss with them. Hope we get Mike as our driver from now on.

ALWAYS on time. We use these guys for every single trip. Remember Snowmageddon? Our driver got us to the airport ON TIME and we were the only flight out that day (going to sunny Florida!). The only downside is they’re always SWAMPED so call-​backs are a regular thing. Don’t let that deter you from using them. They’re great!

I am so disappointed in A1 Taxi and myself for not trusting the reviews from earlier people who had the exact same experience — see Emily K on 1÷26÷15. I submitted a request online — easy enough. Ken the dispatcher called me back the following day and let me know I didn’t give enough information. We talked and he was nice enough. I scheduled a ride on the following Sunday (1.5 weeks out) at 10:00am from Naperville to Midway. I let him know I had three children and my wife with luggage so we’ll need a larger vehicle. I gave him flight information for both trips. Done, right? My wife will be pleased. The Thursday before our trip I didn’t receive any confirmation so based on the other review that I read, I called Ken back again. He said he’d been busy and hadn’t sent out the confirmations yet but he’d do it on Friday. Friday I received a confirmation for both pickups (ride back from Midway the following week) and so I thought it was going to be okay.
Sunday we’re sitting by the front door with all suitcases packed and ready to go by 9:45. No show. At 10:05 I called Ken. He sounded surprised the driver was not there and said he’d call me back. At 10:15 I called Ken back. He told me he didn’t know his driver had booked another appointment and so he’s «screwed.»
I went off. I called him a bad name and let him know that we’re the ones who were screwed. I told him I never left a Unilocal review but he’s not going to be happy with the one I give him. We packed our vehicle and went to the airport.
I set this up because I’d not been to Midway. I didn’t know where to park or anything. I thought this would be something nice for our family. It really started our trip off poorly. I will never use this service and I will let everyone know how disappointed we were.

Top notch company. Knowledgable courteous local drivers. Clean cars. Efficient operation.

I was very low on my traveling money and needed a taxi to the airport. I originally tried Über who quoted me $ 112.00. A1 was the next phone call I made and it was half the price! I was picked up at an apartment complex where my the apartment number is very difficult to find. My driver found it perfectly to my surprise was 3 minutes early! My suitcase was extremely heavy but he was happy to get it for me and put it in his trunk.
The driver (Ron) was awesome and very friendly. Made the last day of my travels very stress-​free. Highly recommended!

This city girl has had horrible luck with cabs since moving to the burbs. Until I found Ken! Before that, I had drivers who use their cell phone while driving, broken promises of mini van (for our family of 5!), drivers who’ve risked our life and limb driving dangerously, smoky and dirty cars, you name it. Obviously, in the city you expect this stuff occasionally, but since any trip from Naperville is a trek, it’s a big deal. Ken is extraordinarily accommodating whether sending a safe courteous driver on a moment’s notice, assuring and delivering special requests or professional follow through and confirmation. I highly recommend A1!

I just tried to book a taxi, the phone went silent for 5 – 6 minutes, and I think I heard the guy snoring on the other line. Not what I wanna hear when I’m trying to book a cab…

I booked A1 for a trip from Naperville to OHARE and back.
Horrible experience from start to finish. I booked online, but never
received a confirmation. I placed a follow up call a few days later and at first they had no idea who I was. Once I gave a little more info he knew the order, but claimed the Internet booking got messed up somehow. Fine.
Closer to the day of departure I still hadn’t received a confirmation, so I called again. After a little more run around he did find the booking and put me slightly at ease
The day of departure they ran 10 minutes late, but we did make our flight with plenty of time.
The return trip from OHARE was a nightmare. We grabbed our checked luggage and headed out into the cold to find our ride. I sent a text asking where the driver was. After 5 minutes I called. I was told because it was snowing (barely) all of the drivers were at least an hour away. Fine, but a call, text or email would have been nice.
In the end, they called another cab company to get us home. Probably for the best, because I was in no mood to deal with A1.
I will NEVER use this company again. They are not the least bit professional and terrible at what they do.

This was the first and last time I will be using their services. While they were on time and got me to where I was going, the driver unnecessarily drove recklessly. He was swerving, weaving around traffic even though there few cars on the road and we weren’t running late. He passed people in the shoulders (once on ramp, once on right) of the highway at high speeds. I’ve never seen anyone pass in the shoulders before! He knew he was driving poorly because he attempted to explain his reasoning. When I drive, I do not engage in that risky driving because I have a family with people who depend on me, so I REALLY don’t appreciate when someone is reckless with MY life. That is why I will not hire them again. Not to mention, the price went up from the advertised and agreed upon rate, I didn’t even care at that point and got out of the car as soon as possible.

Waited 1 hour and had to share a taxi. These guys are a chop shop operation. Horrible, horrible service. I will do everything in my power so they do not exist anymore, if that takes me opening up my own taxi company.

I lived in Naperville for 3 years and used A1 to and from Midway or O’Hare about 45 times. I used other local cab services as well until I found A1.
Hands down I preferred A1 for the following reasons:
The cars were new or near new.
The drivers were excellent — this especially is in regard to James, Ken, Joe and Jake. They may have new drivers since I left the area and cannot review those folks.
I see the reviews are either all 5 stars or 1 stars — mainly, 5 stars. For the 1 star people, i suggest you should have called ahead as a reminder. If you did run into problems, always kindly ask for an equitable remedy and you should expect one.
Finally, this is a small, locally owned curb to curb car service and I will to support local businesses. The other cab companies are much bigger, provide less than late model vehicles, and typically have less interesting drivers.

My husband has been using this taxi provider for a few months for work to get to and from the airport. His experience with them has been generally positive; he found them to be punctual and friendly.
Recently my in-law’s were looking for a taxi service to take them to the airport for a red eye flight during a snow storm, and we recommended A1. The in-​laws called and scheduled the pickup a few days before hand; they were scheduled for a 2 am pickup.
2 am rolls around the night of the flight and no taxi shows up. The in-​laws called the company, and the owner stated that he «forgot to add it to the schedule», so they had to make an emergency trip to the airport in horrible conditions and nearly missed their flight. They did not even receive an apology.
This appears to be a rampant issue with this company; although they have a relatively high overall rating, when my father-​in-​law attempted to make a 1-​star review to detail his experience (his first Unilocal review ever), his review was flagged as Not Reliable automatically and is not included in the overall rating for A1. After reading through these «not recommended reviews», it turns out there are 17 1-​Star ratings at the time of this review that aren’t included in the overall rating (link below)!! Most of them are from first-​time reviewers, but something to take note of.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I requested a taxi and when it arrived I was quoted one flat fare price to where I was going. When I was about 3 miles away from my destination, my driver proceeded to say the fare was going to be $ 10 more than what he had previously quoted. After arguing about this price, he proceeded to drop us off in a unlit area of town that was not where we requested. I urge you not to use this company as you will not get what you bargain for up front! As a fair warning, do not get in the minivan with this license plate (31512TX) as the driver will screw you over

This is a great taxi service, and I would definitely use them again.
I called for a cab at 11:00 p.m. for 11:30 pick up near downtown Naperville. The taxi was on time, and I got a text and call to inform me they arrived.
The taxi was exceptionally clean and a newer vehicle. Jake, our driver, was friendly and needed little direction to our destination in north Plainfield.
