Dear Crème de la Crumb, I can’t even believe you have closed. When I received a text from my friend(who tried to call me first, knowing that breaking the news over the phone would possibly lessen the blow), I was stunned, shocked and heartbroken all. day. long. I have so many fond memories here. You are my first Unilocal review. One of my favorite people in the whole world worked here. I took everyone here. Even though I live in New York, I have to keep breaking the news to everyone, «Oh, you’re home this weekend? Let’s go to Crème!» «actually friend… it has closed.» «NOOOOOO!!!» Crème, you were always so, so good to me. Thanks for that. Love always, Melissa M, Unilocal Elite 09 and 10 and your biggest fan always

I ended up here with my parents over the holidays and I really didn’t understand the draw. There are a huge number of places in Naperville who serve food like this and I would have preferred to drive a few extra miles to go to one of them. The food at Crème de la Crumb is fine, but lets be honest… breakfast food and club sandwiches are hard to mess up. The biggest issue is the service. It literally took these guys 3 – 4 times as long to do everything as another restaurant. We needed an extra place setting and it took like 15 min. to get the girl’s attention and well over another 5 min. to get the place setting. Everything was like this. I just don’t understand… Conclusion: Go to Butterfields or Pancake Café

I’ve been told breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Yeah, well. I have found the food to be plentiful and palatable, but then I do not proclaim to be the connoisseur of breakfast food. Whenever I have been here it has not been crowded. Even on a Sunday morning we were seated without a wait. But, that was not the case when we left on that Sunday.

This place is great, but always crowded. They are only open until 2, so people tend to rush there on the weekends. I love their skillets, you can’t go wrong combining eggs cheese and potatoes. Their waitstaff is stellar, and they are always on their game for the amount of people that filter through there. I never felt rushed by my watier, and I always leave happy and full. Slightly pricey, but I’m a firm believe in you get what you pay for.

Not a fan. The food was ok but a bit over priced. Nothing special in my book.

I’ve been to Crème de la Crumb many times out of convenience and proximity to my house… not because I am a fan. The service is okay… actually it’s very easy and I’ve found it quite common to be neglected but I will say that the people who work there are very nice and are attractive but there are other aspects of the place that I just can’t overlook. For one, something is wrong with their heating and air conditioning. It’s never just comfortable. When it’s busy it’s scorching in there to the point where you have sweat beads developing from just sitting at the table and when it’s slower it’s freezing. The food is not great and I might even say it’s not even good. In the times we’ve eaten there we were not impressed and one time my boyfriend picked up breakfast to go from there and it was horribly, horrible… like I almost thought it was someone’s random leftovers from the day before. Oh– and one of the containers that had peach crepes was put in the to go bag upside down so it was pretty damn gross when we opened it. It’s not expensive food but for the portion and quality it is very overpriced. If you can go anywhere else, take that option… Egg Harbor is not far.

Service was good, not busy, prices decent. PLUS-I was allowed to trade out one of my strawberry crepes for a peach one. VERY cool. I can’t decide if I liked the strawberry or peach better. They were really good crepes. And I’ve been reviewing crepes, mentally at least, since the age of about 5. Trust me, kiddies. Minus one star simply bc the bathroom was yucky and the decoration was kind of… ugly. But I will definitely be back next time I’m in naperville.

Dumb name withstanding, I have only been here once, but the experience was very good. It wasn’t very crowded, so we were seated immediately. I found the service was attentive and the food(I went with the Pecan Pacakes) was very good. It did appear the table next to us had an issue with one of their choices, but I can only go with what we ordered. The cashier was very friendly. I will be back and try some of their egg dishes.

Even though we are to be seated by a hostess, they still allowed us to sit where we wanted. Our waitress, Jenna(I think that was her name) was really on her A-game. She’s one of those waitresses that make her job look so natural and easy. I think she carried like 4 plates at a time. She said she hasn’t dropped one as of yet. She had stuff that I thought she had to go back and get, but after the 4 plates she still had ketchup in her apron. It seemed like she had 4 arms, and that just impresses me. She was very friendly as well. I had the Eggs Benedict and they were very delicious. It surprises me that it comes with a combination of hash browns and mandarin orange segments. It worked really well together. They also serve Hawaiian Kona coffee here. The prices are reasonable, but watch out for loud kids.

Went for breakfast/lunch, at around lunchtime on a Tuesday. Place was clean and open feeling. Not busy at all and were seated immediately. Waitress asked for our order nearly seconds after sitting down. We needed more time, but had to search and flag her down nearly 15 minutes later. Three of us ordered breakfast items(2 skillets & an omelet special), my youngest ordered a cheeseburger off the kid’s menu. The skillet portions were huge. There was enough for at least two people, but they were not anything special and the fact that you have to pay extra to NOT have something, disturbs me greatly. I find that very offensive, gives me the feeling they don’t love their customers. While my girlfriend’s skillet was o.k., mine seem to have no flavor from the ingredients. Possibly too many potatoes and not enough other ingredients. My oldest daughter’s omlete and waffles were displeasing to her. But my youngest loved her cheeseburger, but we had to pay extra for the lettuce, pickle, & cheese. And you pay for each item. I’m sorry, but shouldn’t they already be on the burger. By the time we were all done it was quite a pricey meal for just some potatoes and a few eggs. Definitely nothing to write home about. I had better at a Baker’s Square. BTW even though the place was empty when we arrived, they sat us in a corner, right by the door for the kitchen. Plus people that were seated long after us, received service and meals before us. So be warned, if you need to look at a menu and decide what you want to eat, you may be penalized.

It would have been 5 stars if the service was better. We were made to wait for 15 minutes while the Host was wandering around the restaurant rearranging tables and not paying attention. We finally had to grab hold of a waitress and ask her to seat us. The food was good, I ordered the French Toast but preferred my companions skillet. I would go back and try some of the other breakfast items.

I have to agree this is an outstanding place for breakfast. Have been there many times and have never been disappointed. However, LUNCH is also outstanding here! Homemade soups, fresh sandwiches and a grilled chicken Cesar salad that can’t be beat are just some of the items on the lunch menue that I have had and can recommend.
