Grandma Sally’s is a great restaurant in Naperville. The portions are huge, the service is friendly, and the owners are always extremely welcoming. Hearing that it just got destroyed by a fire made me come on here to give them my support. I certainly hope they rebuild it, the place is one of the best breakfast places in the Naperville area. Come back Sally!

Normally I wouldn’t give such a low review. I wanted to like this place. The first I visited the food was amazing. My boyfriend and I went for breakfast today and the food was blah. Halfway, through our meal we found an aunt crawling on our plate. We immediately told the waitress and she told us to wait. We thought she was going to bring a manager but instead she brought the bill. No empathy what so ever. We paid the bill and left. Never coming to this place.

The portions here are HUGE! I couldn’t even eat half of the food I got. I ordered the«Hobo Style Skillet». It was gigantic and cooked very well. Lots of potato, cheese, ham, egg, peppers and onions. It also came with a side of two pancakes. The skillet was tasty but lacked a little but of seasoning/salt. The pancakes were sub-par but it could have been because I didn’t eat them until the end. Our server Olga was an absolute sweetheart and gave us plenty of time to look over the GIANT menu. The man running the house was also super sweet. I was very happy with the portions and service, the food just needed a little more flavor. I’ll be back again to try some of their other items. I would recommend this to anyone looking for diner-style food on the cheap!

Grandma Sally’s is one of my go-to breakfast places. Most other breakfast places in the area are pretty expensive, but Grandma Sally’s provides great value and good service. It has a nice, cozy atmosphere. Their skillets are extremely filling and also delicious. The Louisiana skillet would be a good choice for you skillet-lovers. Their pancakes are fluffy and up to par. I would recommend their strawberry pancakes, but their potato pancakes are also delicious. I’ve never had anything from their lunch menu, but their breakfast menu has good variety and high quality.

Went there for lunch during the week, the food came out quickly, which was important and was of adequate quality for what I was expecting. It’s nothing spectacular but it’s reasonably priced and the service was good, will be going back again.

Unremarkable, really. Standard breakfast diner with excellent service, but they don’t have any non pork meat. So no turkey sausage or bacon, and as someone who can’t eat pork that was a big let down because most diners offer that alternative. Also it’s a very crowded place — too many tables and booths crammed too close together. You can participate in the conversation taking place at the next table over with ease. Still, it’s not bad. I probably won’t go again, mostly because of the no non pork meat thing, and also because the fruit on my waffles was obviously canned and TASTED canned and syrupy and blah, but I bet other folks would like it better? I don’t know.

This was a delightful, family run place that offered a HUGE menu of superbly prepared meals — we ate here TWICE during our trip. The greek omelette was amazing with the gyro meat with the eggs. I greatly enjoyed the belgian waffle with banana slices. Most pleasant was the feeling of family warmth in the restaurant — which you would never feel in a chain place. Thank you, Grandma Sally!

I like this place… mature service… fast quality food… try getting 4 eggs scrambled with spinach and feta cheese… hash browns and sourdough toast. perfect. I have yet to try anything but breakfast food… so have no comment on that part of the menu.

Nice typical Greek-run breakfast restaurant on the north edge of Naperville. The menu has seemingly 50 pages and 7,000 items … and after you order you will be served piping hot food within minutes. Nicely run, fair prices, and very friendly wait staff. If they had had real maple syrup, they would have earned a fourth star … but they serve high-fructose corn syrup like most other places. Still and all, this is a nice place for breakfast or brunch.

I have only ordered breakfast food here and I highly recommend it. My family has been eating here for years so it’s always exciting to go when I come home. Of all the options on the breakfast menu, my favorite is the eggs benedict. The omelets, pancakes, skillets, or the biscuits and gravy, it’s all fantastic quality all across the board. Great flavor, generous portions, and unbeatable prices. I absolutely love Grandma Sally’s. The staff, atmosphere, and menu are all above par. If you’re in the area, give this place a shot. Anyone who tells you differently, is a liar. I’ve been eating there for 20+ years, and my parents, longer than that. There’s a reason we keep going back.

Stopped by for lunch. I ordered the meat lasagna. They were not very busy and the waitress took my order quickly. Side salad arrived quickly with the«house Greek». It was moderately fresh and the house dressing was«OK». My lasagna arrived in a big bowl. It was not warm and sent back. It was not as I expected. Instead of a «square» slice of lasagna this was more like a mix of pasta, ricotta cheese, and sauce topped off with cheese and baked under a salamander. More like a baked spaghetti. Flavor was on a par with a low cost frozen entrée. Sauce was watery and without much flavor. Tabasco helped. The cheese melted on top was flavorful, but honestly… it wasn’t very good at all. Meat sauce has little meat. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. One star because the waitress was attentive, but guy taking my cash couldn’t care less…

Poor Service + Overpriced food+ Wrong Order + Being charged the wrong amount = family tradition? Absolutely not. Sure, Grandma Sallys has the term ‘grandma’ in the name, but there is ultimately nothing grandma-like present in the restaurant(unless of course your grandma cannot hear and doesn’t know basic math). The wait staff barely had time to say ‘hello’… and when they did they it was so noisy that they couldn’t understand what you were ordering. Yes, they did serve tons of food, but the quality you get is nowhere near worth the cost. It’s your run of the mill ‘ma and pop’ but at 2X the cost! Finally, when checking out, we requested that the cashier(maybe one of the owners as well?) split the check 50⁄50 between my guest and myself. After talleying on a scrap piece of paper for 2 minutes, he finally charged us… only to find he charged us the incorrect amount. When I showed him his calculations were wrong, he reiterated with shaking his head and pointing at his incorrect arithmetic. I couldn’t bargain with him. For the cost of the food, they can at least afford a $ 3 calculator. With incorrect math, it’s no wonder they have to overcharge everything on the menu! I left Grandma Sally’s full but incredibly disappointed and confused that a business can keep operating like that. Save yourself time, money, and hassle; go anywhere else BUT Grandma Sallys.

Grandma Sallys Waffle and Pancake House is a breakfast focused eatery located off of Ogden Avenue in Naperville. Upon walking in the door I had initially thought I walked into the wrong place, had I stepped into an AARP summit? Initially it appeared I was the only non-senior citizen patronizing this establishment. I sat to think about this for a moment and realized the place IS called GRANDMA Sally’s, and there certainly were a lot of people who were likely grandparents there. After sitting down a waitress arrived at my table shortly there after and took my order. My drink was ready within a couple of minutes and my food ready in well under 10 minutes. As far as the food itself I decided to try«The incredible skillet». And it was good, but by no means incredible, it was a decent sized egg skillet with a variety of tasty ingridients, the eggs were a little runny but it was overall decent. I also received pancakes with the skillet, these were smaller than most breakfast places pancakes. The syrup they have is more watered down than other places and doesn’t have the same type of viscosity. Overall, I found Grandma Sallys to be fairly average. My skillet was good but not great, the pancakes were small and the syrup wasn’t so hot. Service was quick and friendly. I’d come back, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.

My experience could be attributed to «it was a bad day» if it was just the waitress I had an issue with. I stopped by this morning for steak and eggs, really looking forward to them. The waitress delivered the food and did not come back to check to see if it was ok. I could see her watching television with several others at the other end of the section I was in, they were all standing with their backs to me. The eggs and steak both were over cooked, I couldn’t even eat the eggs. I was starving so I did eventually eat the steak. I set the plate with the uneaten food at the edge to see if I could get someone’s attention. A few minutes later another waitress came by and picked everything up. I waited for her to comment on the untouched food. The plate was full nothing touched, she did say a word to me about, was there something wrong She told my waitress that I needed my check, so she came over. I asked about what they mea by over medium, and about my steak, what do they mean by medium rare. She explained, but never. Asked why, so I gold her everything was over cooked, no appology no offer to redo, no offer to reduce my check. So when I got to the register, I was asked about what top I wanted Jim to add to my credit card, I said none and explained that the waitress had not checked back with me and all my food had been over cooked and I hadn’t eaten the eggs. No appology. No offer, he just ran my card. I will never be back, due to the attitude more than the improperly cooked food. There are too many other good restaurants in the area.

My go to place in the area had been Butterfield’s, although, as noted in Unilocal reviews(for two of their locations, even) the food is amazing but the service absolutely blows. So, this weekend I decided we’d explore other breakfast opportunities, and Grandma Sally’s was highly rated. First off, the menu is typical of your Greek-owned diner-y place in that it has almost everything you’d ever want to order. AND, if you don’t see something on the menu, they’ll make you whatever you want. For instance, I asked what their best breakfast skillet was, the waitress mentioned a secret skillet that featured chorizo. Awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by the service at Grandma Sally’s, as where Butterfield’s would leave me anxiously trying to make eye contact with our waitress for a chance at a coffee refill, the coffee here NEVERSTOPPEDFLOWING. In fact, I’d –almost– say the rate of coffee refills bordered on obnoxious as someone was around topping off mugs with every other sip! Complaining about the service being TOOGOOD, now I’ve seen it all on Unilocal.;) Anyway, definitely give Grandma Sally’s a try if you’re looking for breakfast in the area. Also, it’s probably safe to order just about everything on the menu«easy on the cheese» as my skillet was covered in a THICK layer of cheddar. Although, if that’s what you’re into, Grandma Sally has what you need.

I’ve been here a few times with the BF for breakfast/lunch/dinner. It’s our go to for some legit dinner food. The restaurant is family owned so it has its regulars(usually older people). Breakfast is decent here. They give you pretty big portions. The pancakes are amazing! They also make the syrup in house and it’s SO good. It soaks into the pancakes… it’s not that typical sticky, gooey kind of syrup… I love it! During dinner time they provide a basket of bread. Food for lunch/dinner isn’t anythign to rave about. Decent prices.

Epic. That is how I would describe this place. Or perhaps«Midwest Gothic». First thing to say is that they have this really crazy mural that seems to be Americana, but kind of strangely anachronistic. It almost looks like something the tea party would have printed. That adds to the kitsch feeling. The food is okay. It’s high end diner food in the middle of Illinois. It’s breakfast /Greek. It’s fast, it’s inexpensive. The sausage patties are as big as your face and it seems to be «farmer’s sausage» or «whole hog». If you are used to Bob Evans, this may be a bit shocking to your palette. Think of it like a side of … well … a hamburger. They do have this dish that is a variant of eggs benedict made with potato pancakes, eggs, bacon, and hollandaise. It totally spoke to my casserole-loving side. Service was good. The waitress took her time with our group and was pleasant, though it seems that she should have been retired. The coffee is SUPER weak diner coffee. Drink it black or not at all. The charm, again, is its small town vibe — almost like The Children Of the Corn could walk in at any moment, but in a good way. Does that make sense?

We came for brunch and had a German pancake($ 7.45) and a Feta cheese omelette for $ 7.19, and which includes a huge amount of hash browns and two pancakes. It’s an older but clean place, and you get a lot for your dollar here, and with friendly service. I was here only once before a decade ago, and current clientele looks to be largely those with long time roots in Naperville, and probably a loyal customer base. Good local place to have around for us.
