I had my bridesmaid dress altered by Monica and she did such a great job! The dress for absolutely perfectly. Very kind, professional and affordable.

I just left my second dress fitting with Monica feeling extremely confident that my dress will look amazing on my wedding day. Monica takes her time and pays great attention to detail. She told me today that each dress is different and so is each woman’s body. She takes her time to make sure that the dress fits the person.
I cannot speak to the pricing yet as the it depends on how much work she does in the end. At this point, I am so excited about the outcome and feel confident about my happiness that I feel there’s no price I wouldn’t pay to make the dress looks perfect.

I took my dress for my daughter’s wedding to Monica to alter the «cold shoulder» sleeve into an actual short sleeve using the material from the matching shawl. While discussing what she would do Monica took her scissors and cut off the shoulder strap. We had not discussed cost or agreed yet on final look. I was now committed. She also needed to shorten the dress. She gave me a date three weeks away to come back to check length before attaching sleeves. The length was perfect but now the dress was too tight across my rib cage, it had fit perfectly with a little room and I had lost three pounds. Monica admitted to taking it in a bit so it would be a closer fit. I told her I did not want that and to let it back out. I came back on assigned date had to rearrange my entire day to make the appointed time only to be told it was not done. Three weeks later it was finished the sleeves looked beautiful but the dress was still too tight Monica insisted she had let it out. Either the way she attached the sleeves altered the entire fit or she had taken those scissors to the material she had taken in. Then I got the bill $ 190. The dress was only $ 200. With no choice I took my now too tight dress with beautiful sleeves home tried it on for my daughter and the bust stitching all came out. I believe Monica is a talented designer but quality of work is very poor, she is rude and I felt robbed between the cutting before agreement, dress altering that was not agreed on and shoddy sewing. I loved this dress before, I should have left it alone as I will now be holding my breath all day and I have lost another two pounds. Will never go back. I am taking the dress elsewhere to have the stitching fixed that came undone. Took the dress to another seamstress she said the dress was definitely taken in and she can’t let it back out as Monica cut off the material. I want my $ 190 back for a dress I can not wear because Monica took it in without permission!

A few things right out of the gate:
I am a cheapskate.
I am a dude.
I have no fashion sense.
So with my tail between my legs, I brought her a suit and said I needed to look good.
She tailored it so well I actually felt like a different person.
i couldn’t believe the difference that good tailoring can make to «off the rack» stuff.
Im 6 ft and 170 lbs. and between small and medium sizes. Not only was her work perfect, but she got it done on short notice and the cost was a great investment.
Then, she respectfullly asked about the shopping I had in mind and made a great recommendation for someone of my size. She explained my sizing — she understands the various shirt makers and how they «cut» on men of different builds. I went to «Deans» in this case and asked for a certain sales man and a certain maker. She was 100% right on the money, and I got amazing shirts that fit ooooohhhh so perfectly for a good price.
This bonus recommendation was so cool… now im just babbling, but get this: The final outfit I put together with all Monica’s help? Was worn on RODEO DRIVE in Beverly hills. I went to Villa Blanca, one of the hottest restaraunts there, and strutted around on Wilshire blvd. just before arriving at our destination. I’ll just tell you; this tailored outfit really made me feel and look like a big-​shot.
I had 3… yes THREE goregous women look me up and down and smiled «that smile». I cannot tell you how proud that made me feel. Oh my GOD!
Fast Forward to today: Im now bringing her my other quality garments (RUNNING back into her shop tomorrow!!!) that I stopped wearing due to awkward sizing; and shes going to tailor them, as well.
I relied on Unilocal to find her, now I hope some other oaf will figure out how to stop looking good… and turn it into GREAT. Clothes make the man. I am learning, I am learning, ladies.

I’ve been waiting to write this review, mainly because there’s still a good amount of work that Monica will be doing for me over the next couple of months, but I just simply cannot imagine that I’m going to be anything less than very happy. I would first like to try and gain a little sympathy from the reader, who should really try to I imagine what it’s like to be a 5’2″ male who weighs less than a hundred pounds and who really doesn’t want to buy kids’ clothes. I know when I buy an article of clothing, even if I get the smallest size made, that it’s going to be far too large for me to wear off the rack; when I look at a piece of clothing I have to ask myself «how much work needs to be done on this?» It’s a cost that I have to factor into everything I buy. There are a few stores where I can get a shirt that will only need to have the sleeves shortened, maybe even slimmed, but that’s a rarity; usually, the shirt has to basically be remade – same deal for pants. Over the years, as I’ve bought articles of clothing, I’ve had them tailored almost exclusively at a ‘sastreria’ in Aurora – and I feel really awful that I probably won’t be going to that gentleman anymore, but I’m not going to criticize him or his work here; all I’m going to do is state the fact that after several years of having one person tailor almost everything I own – and paying unbelievably low prices – I am so impressed with Monica that the decision to switch to her was so easy that I feel a little guilty about it.
I am not the most fashionable person in the world, and, despite what my friends and family think, I do not enjoy frivolously spending money on clothes. I keep the clothes I buy for YEARS, and I wear them until they are no longer in an acceptable state for public viewing, but every few years or so I really clean my closet out and get rid of a lot of things. Just a few months ago I got rid of a LOT of clothes, which means that I have to go and buy practically an entirely new wardrobe – which I’ll admit is pretty fun – but that also means that I’m going to have to shell out anywhere between three and four hundred dollars to have those clothes tailored. There’s nothing worse than hoping that the shirt or pair of pants you dropped off will be tailored well; after having several shirts and pairs of pants tailored here, I no longer have that worry. I cannot stress enough how great it feels to know that Monica’s work will far exceed my expectations. I have had shirts, pants, jeans, and even a suit jacket tailored here, and I could not be happier with the results. Again, I’m not trying to criticize anyone else here, but after my experiences with a couple of tailors, there were a couple of things about Monica that I really liked: 1) Monica wants you to look good, wants your clothes to look good on you, and she makes suggestions but also asks your opinion, and 2) she actually invites/​encourages you to try on the clothes to make sure that they fit well and that you’re happy with them, but she also takes the chance to inspect you herself! to make sure that SHE’S happy with her work! I swear to god sometimes I want to hug her, but I’ve restrained myself so far, mainly because she’s quite tall and the logistics of trying to hug someone that much taller than you is difficult.
I don’t think I could recommend Monica highly enough, and I’m pretty sure I’ve told just about everyone I know about her, so I’m not sure what else I can say here. The one thing I can’t really comment on too much is price; she’s more expensive than the guy I used to go to, but I often wondered how that gentleman could charge what he does and still stay open! I’ve gone to another tailor in Aurora, and I would say that her prices and Monica’s were comparable, which is surprising when you consider that Monica’s store is located in Naperville. What I can say about Monica’s work is that is WELL worth what you pay. So if you have clothes you want tailored and you – maybe because of past experiences or because of a lack of experience – are a little nervous about it, don’t be! Get yourself and your ill-​fitting clothes over to Monica and I guarantee you’ll be happy and worry-​free.

Brought my daughters juniors bridesmaid dress here for alterations. I only paid $ 50 and she did a great job and had it ready in a few days. I’d rather support the small business owner than the big bridal stores. Highly recommend Monica!

Monica is great! I first used her services on a pair of jeans in the summer of ’14 and have since had numerous work slacks and dress shirts taken in, casual pants hemmed, and a few sport coats taken in. She has a great eye for how clothes are supposed to be tailored to your body. Her quality of work is wonderful, she is always spot on with her turn-​around times, and the pricing is great. We «get what we pay for» and Monica certainly does a great job!
Quick example: I needed a new pair of casual pants hemmed close to Christmas. Since I had not washed them yet she kept some added length to prepare for some potential shrinking after washing & drying. Problem was, the pants never shrank (good problem I suppose)! I took them back in to Monica and she re-​hemmed that same day for me for no charge. Great surprise and a sign of even better customer service.

Designer Michael Kors once answered the often asked question «Why do Europeans always look so good?» with «They have a relationship with their tailor.»
Monica’s is perhaps my greatest discovery in all of Naperville. With a curvy body and yet a really small waist, few things fit me right if purchased off the rack. If the top fits right, the waist is too big; if the waist fits right, I can’t button my shirt above my sternum. –What a conundrum! Thankfully, this pretty European does it all! Dress shirts, T-​shirts, pants, ball gowns… Everything. If I wear it on my body, I want it to look as though it was made just for me.
Why the greatest? 1) She does immaculate work and in record speed. Truly. She can do wonders in just a few days! 2) She’s located right next to the 4^th St Metra station. Even if I’m not at the station that day, it’s still close to downtown but without having to actually be downtown. –convenient but with better parking. And 3) She is priced really well.
I have a black, all lace shirt that I’ve only worn once because it just didn’t look right. Even in an XS, it’s too long and too wide for my frame so I’m taking it to Monica for her to rework. Shortened, and cut to fit and it would look very chic. Everyone has clothes like that hanging in their closet. Clothes that need just a little tweaking. This is when you hire a gifted tailor.
There’s a reason why I’m always mistaken for a European when I travel overseas and my lack of cross-​trainers as a wardrobe piece is not the only reason. ;) I’m convinced it’s also because I did as the world renowned designer suggested; I found an excellent tailor!

I don’t normally post reviews but people NEED to know about Monica. I had a wedding coming up and needed my suit completely reworked after Jos. A Bank jacked it up. Monica made me look like James Bond instead of chumlee from pawn stars. She knows how to make that suit fit like a glove and was really reasonable as far as price. Also she only had 4 days to do it and smashed it out no problem. Did both the groom and best man. She made me feel like a million dollars when I put it on. Thanks Monica.

I needed to have the sides taken in on an authentic baseball pullover jersey I received as a gift. Problem was, the game I was attending was the next day. I suppose that was more of a problem for me then for her as she was able to get it done, very well for that matter, and it was cheap. She’s getting my business for all my suits and pants when I’m in the burbs.
I highly recommend her.
