Wide variety of options, fast service, tasty flavor. A little bit on the noisy side but overall okay for a barbecue place.

Wow had the turkey platter and was my sure what to expect. Got the potato salad and grit casserole as my sides and beer to wash it all down. Sat at the bar as it was packed and had a good conversation the the bar tender. The food came and my tastebuds were blown. The meat had great flavor and the sauce seemed to really compliment the smoke but let the flavor still come through. The potato salad was your typical mayo potato salad but I liked that the potatoes were still in nice big chunks. Grit casserole was amazing like mashed potatoes but much better. Now I know why it is so hard to get a seat here

A mentor of mine once told me never to complain about how the fish was prepared in a steak house. Well I suppose that sage advise could translate to a BBQ place; however, this is the south where catfish and shrimp should hold their own in any restaurant, and Edley’s almost showcases both — they certainly aren’t hidden between the kiddie meals and deserts. In fact, they are both served as tacos, so there was some thought put into their creation. Feeling like something a bit lighter than red meat, my daughter and I went with the 3-n-2(three tacos and two sides). I hate to give any BBQ place less than at-least four stars, but based on this lunch, «meh» is about all The emotion I can muster. I promise to go back and a try terrestrial animal flesh, but until then here are my observations. First the tortillas. Edley’s use flour tortillas and they are heated on a griddle. A couple of ours were borderline scorched which really doesn’t do anything positive for the flavor. Neither the catfish nor shrimp was well seasoned. Yes, they have sauces they put on the tacos, but cooks need to first consider salt! No salt in deep fried meat means bland meat. Sadly beyond this the catfish was mushy, although the shrimp were cooked well. Not tough at all. I think the cook used the shrimp as the measure of doneness. Everyone has their own favorite sides and I now know for sure mine do not include either the bean salad or skillet corn. I expected the corn to be sweet and a bit savory with maybe a touch of heat. What I got was corn coated in vegetable oil. A vague corn taste with an oil coating. I also expected the bean salad to have that traditional sweet-sour bite, but the black beans overpowered the taste(yes, I know black beans don’t taste like much at all). I didn’t try my daughter’s green beans but I was very impressed with the baked beans. They usually are heavy, over over-sweet and smokey, but I guess keeping with the different flavors in all their other sides, this was to be expected. Again, I will give it another shot next time I am in town. Stay tuned.

I took my family to check out Edley’s on a Saturday afternoon a couple of weeks back. You can tell by the atmosphere in the place that it was a happening location. I was somewhat disappointed in my food as I had ordered some sort of chicken plate that had the word nasty in the title which had sausage gravy smothered on top of the chicken. As soon as my mail arrived the daily special that I had ordered was erased from the board obviously because they had ran out. The gravy tasted like it was from the bottom of the barrel and had been sitting for awhile. When you go and plunk down $ 100 for your family to go out and eat and try the newest Nashville craze it has to impress in order to get my repeat business.

Been here three times and I only loved it the first time. Got the Tuck special with brisket and pimento cheese. Truly delicious. The hot chicken and fried catfish is awful Smoked wings are pretty good tho. Grit casserole pretty good. Collard greens very spicy. Brisket chili is sweet, I didn’t love it.

I was not impressed tonight. First off. The tables are all dirty and they expect you to clear off other people’s dirty dishes and napkins yourself before having a seat. Second off nobody serves you here. You have to wait in a line and order stuff like you are at Burger King or something. It’s ridiculous. Anyway that’s all fine and good whatever — but they were out of sweet tea, out of ribs, out of turkey. So I had to order the hot chicken platter which one would expect to be hot and it was not — same goes for the hot wings — what a joke. Save yourself time and go to famous daves — the restaurant is a dump, terrible service and the food is nothing to write home about.

This was my first time at Edleys. There were a couple minor annoyances but nothing that will keep me from coming back in the future. The building is gorgeous and there is ample seating including some booths that can accommodate very large groups of 10 – 12 and a full bar. There are also tables and one seating area that has an open-air feel with plenty of available sunshine while staying out of the elements. The menu is full of options, primarily all of the favorite goodies you would expect to find at a BBQ restaurant as well as some you wouldn’t. There is also a variety of home baked desserts available. I ordered the healthier option, the southern salad with turkey. It was a nice portion size and totally fresh however the turkey although flavorfully smokey, was pretty darn dry. :(The only other thing that was amiss was their sound system. The speaker overhead was blown so the whole time we heard loud annoying cracking while the tunes played.

Food was AMAZING! Service was helpful and fast! Loved the Dry Rub Ribs and really liked the mac and cheese, fries were ok but not as good as the cornbread or mac and cheese! Very cool atmosphere and in a cool location! Overall great place for a bite to eat!

Edley’s did something that only my absolute favorite restaurants do — they get out of their own way. They didn’t kill themselves with branding or gimmicks, and they let their food do the talking. If you own a business in the market of filling me up, the best thing you can do is food first, questions later. When we approached the building, the line out of the door was a frustrating visual that this place knows how to make good food. The good news, was that their cafeteria style and attentive staff allowed us to get in and out relatively quickly. I didn’t expect a place so packed to get us fed so fast. The food was fantastic, and really played to the strengths I value in good BBQ. I think BBQ is so subjective, especially in the higher quality markets, but I doubt anyone would be disappointed in their menu. I can envision BBQ connoisseurs and greenhorns alike uniting under the delicious taste of Edley’s, and for a reasonable price. The only flaw I can find in the Edley’s dominance is that the area they’re in doesn’t allow much wiggle room. Take this restaurant and drop it in a small town, and it’s instantly the best. But to compete in Nashville for the title of five-star BBQ, you’ll have to really knock my socks off with the«it» factor. Edley’s was close. Damn close.

Edleys was recommended to us by one of the locals and we ate here every day while in Nashville. The pulled pork and brisket sandwich were both delicious. Can’t compare it to other places in Nashville but coming from Boston this was place was excellent!

In town to run a marathon the next morning, I stopped here mainly because it’s next to the filling station — which is a great place to get local beer. The process of getting food is somewhat cafeteria style. You order at a counter, get a number, and seat yourself. But your food is brought out to you. They have a separate bar if you want to get an adult beverage, which can be enjoyed with your meal. They had plenty of local beers on tap as well as a cocktail menu. I was told by a Nashville local that there are 3 places to go for Bbq in Nashville, and this was one of them. I was told to go to this place for the sides. I opted for the pulled pork platter and my wife had the pulled pork sandwich. Between the two of us, we tried the following sides: Mac n cheese, grits, cornbread, and bean salad. Without a doubt, the best thing I had was the bean salad. I can’t say any of the other sides blew me away, but I left saying that if we came back I would be ordering a pint of bean salad as my meal. It’s that good.

I tried the brisket sandwich, pork tacos, Mac n cheese, and potato salad. Both of the sides were excellent and the brisket is the way to go for meat. FYI, they only have brisket during lunch, I lucked out and they had some left over by dinner time but«usually they run out» — it’s definitely worth asking for. Tons of local beer on tap and the staff is super knowledgeable. I’d definitely recommend this place.

High expectations were created prior to coming here… And sadly for most, they were not met and definitely not exceeded. I ordered their chicken plate, or the 1lbs of chicken, I’m not too sure as I got a little confused at the cash register and I think the woman putting in my order did as well. Whatever I did get, at least it was chicken, was super tasty and definitely did the job of filling me up, without stomach ache! Success right there… You’d expect me to give this place five stars then now wouldn’t you?! Well, apparently everything else sort of went down hill from there. My fiancé ordered the brisket plate as he is a brisket whore… And apparently it was«super dry». The corn bread was also sub par and he barely touched the slaw as it was a bit too vinegary. That being said, even though he said the banana pudding and the mac & cheese were just okay, he scarfed them down no problem. After he was done, he said three times, «what a let down». Rather unfortunate because the staff and I want to say the manager of those place were great! The two friends we were with ordered the shrimp tacos(fried) and the brisket, egg sandwich situation, which were both completely demolished without complaint. And the fries and fried pickles, I was told, were tasty too. I say, come here for some awesome heart stopping food, or for some«healthier» fare like the chicken I got(mostly white meat and thigh), but don’t come here if you’re looking for the best brisket on the face of the planet.

BBQ now this is what I’m talking about! I came here with our group of friends. My fiancé and I split the brisket tacos and the pulled pork sandwich. I thought the tacos were out of the this world but the sandwich was also awesome. The meat was so good! For sides we did two cornbreads, Mac n cheese and baked beans. The cornbread was a healthy serving and just what I needed to soak up all that beer from the night before. Oh yeah and a nice healthy pour of fountain Diet Coke-that always does the trick. The Mac n cheese is the baked Mac n cheese with bread crumbs baked on top. We also got some kind of alcoholic milkshake that they have made up at the bar. Don’t remember what they are called but I highly recommend them! Edley’s is a solid spot and I highly recommend it!

Whenever anyone asks me the best place for BBQ in Nashville, I always send them to Edley’s. I think I have had just about everything on the menu, and the only reason they receive four stars is the wait. Is it worth it? Yes. Am I still a brat who hates lines? Yes. So with most orders, you get to choose two sides. ALWAYSGETTHEMACANDCHEESE. It is cheesy and gooey and delicious. It is actually perfect as a side because it would be way too perfect to eat as an entire meal. The ribs are fantastic. Perfectly cooked to fall off the bone and into your mouth. If you are a fan of brisket, they only serve that at lunch so you better plan accordingly! For dessert(well, dessert for someone who likes booze) you can wash down all of the delicious meat with a bushwacker, which is one of the strongest I’ve had in the city so be careful. TIP: Wipes are provided, so use them and don’t shame the Unilocal name by walking around with your hands covered in BBQ sauce for the rest of the day.

I feel like I’m sleeping with the enemy and my main squeeze Texas is going to secede from my relationship with her. But I was too tempted and fell under the pressures of Tennessee’s seduction. As a true mistress(is there a male counterpart name? maybe side piece?) of Tennessee’s I knew the wait would be worthwhile. The line was crazy, similar to Franklin’s in Austin, but we couldn’t deny we obviously weren’t the only ones with the same idea. As y’all may or may not know… I have hangryitis and it’s pretty severe when I haven’t eaten all day. Waiting in line started fine at first but watching people eating in pure bliss while I was miserable and anxious outside was not going to happen. I’m gonna tell y’all a secret and the folks in Nashville might be ready to run me out of the city next time, but to my fellow Unilocalers I feel like you should know. Especially if you’re still reading this. Go inside towards the bar on the left and there is a to-go order line you can take advantage of! Better yet… they may even let you eat your to-go order at a table by the bar if you’re kind enough. We literally cut our wait time by at least 1.5 hours and I’m not ashamed of it. As they say, work smart not hard. The one downfall when eating dinner at Edley’s is they don’t serve brisket for dinner. It’s written all across the establishment and menu’s. They have very very limited quantities for bulk to-go orders so don’t set your heart on it. The pulled pork was life and the banana crème pudding dessert they serve was EPIC. Grab the cornbread with jalepenos inside and mop up your plate. I recommend grabbing the ribs and pulled pork and you’ll definitely be thanking me later for all you meat lovers. The BBQ sauce was tangy and full of different flavors. I can go on and on about the food but hot dang was it amazing.

Oh Edley’s! How you’ve grown! It’s been so cool to see Edley’s become a hit and Nashville must since opening 5 or 6 years ago. The East Nashville location has been one of my go-to’s on those nights when I’m like… «I have NO idea where I want to grab dinner!» It’s consistent and consistently great. The vibe is definitely hipster country as you walk in and see the huge sign for Viola, TN. It doesn’t feel disingenuous though which is hard to pull off. Their hard sell is on the Tuck special or brisket tacos and those are great, but, in case of need to be healthier(or satisfy Lent), try the turkey! My wife and I just went here when my plan for cauliflower crust pizza failed miserably and got the turkey platter. The turkey is, simply said, the best smoked turkey I’ve ever had. It’s smokey and moist with a good crust. Phenomenal. Their sides are good and the beer selection is nice and local. The turkey is definitely the surprise healthier win on the menu, though. Never mind that we got fried pickles, too. Don’t pay any attention to that. Pros: Vibe. Turkey. Beer. Cons: Not much. Can get really crowded with a somewhat long wait at the counter. Overall: You probably know and love Edley’s. Probably. But, in case you haven’t tried it, it’s legitimately great BBQ!

I’ve been to Edley’s original 12 South location, but I really wanted to check out their newer Edley’s East spot for a little compare-and-contrast. The place was absolutely packed at 12:45pm with a few boozy stragglers left over from brunch. Edley’s East has a great atmosphere. I especially loved all of the natural woodwork, which is a hallmark of Edley’s original locale as well. After the big bowl of Captain Crunch I had for breakfast, I probably didn’t need an appetizer, but I couldn’t resist an order of their BBQ Nachos with pulled pork. In addition to the pulled pork, these BBQ Nachos were loaded to the brim with pico de gallo and cheesy goodness. The pulled pork was smoky and fantastically tender, and it had just the right amount of simple salty seasoning. I really enjoyed how the spiciness from the jalapeños offered an interesting juxtaposition with the gooey cheese and sour cream. Best of all, the thick-cut homemade potato chips were a perfect substitute for the usual blasé tortilla chips. With my palate thoroughly warmed up, it was time for the main event: the Brisket Platter with cornbread, grits casserole, and black eyed peas. Heck yeah! The cornbread was toasty and buttery. It was also quite dense, but not the least bit dry. Jalapeños were sparsely scattered throughout, though just enough to add some good zip. Black eyed peas are one of the most Southern sides you can find, and these were quite tasty. The grits were the best of all. They were spicy and delicious. I found a great crunch from the added crumble, which paired well with the otherwise creamy texture. The brisket was beautifully smoky, and the midnight-black bark was absolutely packed with flavor. There was also a prevalent smoke ring that matched the taste. Well-rendered fat made each bite melt in my mouth, and the meat itself was also very tender. The sauce was nice and tangy, but didn’t mask the natural beefiness. In short, the brisket was phenomenal. As much as I enjoy the original Edley’s, I think the barbecue at Edley’s East might be even better.

I’ve looked far and wide for good barbecue since moving to Nashville from Memphis(so I have high standards). Unfortunately, I’ve been disappointed with the barbecue I’ve had — until I tried Edley’s. I prefer chicken to pork, and the pulled chicken sandwich was the hands down the best I’ve had in Nashville(and perhaps even Memphis). The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful — something that you don’t often find with shredded chicken. Add a brioche bun, cool slaw and some amazing barbecue sauce and you’ve got a winner. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the menu.

My girlfriend and I are from out of town and wanted to try local, Nashville BBQ. We were not disappointed with the food here. We tried the hot chicken platter and ribs platter. Both were very flavorful and delicious. The sides as well were also yummy. We also wanted to try some local craft beer and the bartenders recommended some tasty southern brews. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about all the beers. If you’re from out of town and want to try some good Nashville grub, I highly recommend stopping in.

I LOVE the food and eat there every Friday night. Everything on the menu is DELICIOUS! My one complaint is that I have been asking management to install a baby changing station in one of the three bathrooms for a year now and they still haven’t done it! Very frustrating, because there are a lot of families with babies that eat there and there is no place to change a diaper except the bathroom floor! eww.

I’ve eaten here over ten times. sometimes the food is just okay enough, other times — I’ll have a stomach ache. nothing’s ever been problem enough until today. enough for me to open a Unilocal account. I came in during the busy NFL playoff game to get carry out. ordered chicken tacos that came out quickly(wasn’t in much of a hurry) but when arriving home I realized the chicken was still pink. the surface of the meat was still that glassy texture instead of cooked thru, which is dangerous. needless to say, I couldn’t eat my lunch. I took a photo to post here. super grossed out, hate to say it but beware!

Second best ribs I’ve ever had, but the best ribs I’ve ever bought. If they were closer I would probably never spend the time smokin my own ribs. Service was great and everyone was very friendly. Ate the ribs as they came with the dry rub, the way I like em, should have got fries so I could put some of the their sauce on them, the sauce sittin on the table was great but the ribs were perfect as they were. Not fall off the bone like the baked ribs alot of people try passin off as BBQ just done right. Baked beans were great along with the bean salad, potato salad was good, not my style, but would get it again. If someone would do BBQ half as good as them around here I would be a happy camper. Good beer selection too, nice surprise bought one Yazoo got one free. This was at the 12th Ave. location.

BBQ done right. Not your«traditional» bbq shop, but still great! Brisket tacos had great flavor. Rib sandwich was awesome. Chicken sandwich was stacked, slightly dry but still tasty. And the pit smoked chicken plate was good too. Sides were just ok. Cornbread was dry and needed butter, maybe honey. But banana pudding was delish! Great atmosphere and nice service.

First, I should say I’m not a barbecue fan. I know, I know, I live in the wrong state, right? Well, Edley’s puts me in the right state when my friends are craving barbecue and I have a fear of missing out. The Eastside location is the spot we frequent, though I’ve been to the 12th Avenue location, and it’s just as tasty. Tried(over and over and over) and true are the brisket tacos with white sauce, bean salad, cheese, pico de gallo and fried jalapenos, only available at lunchtime. They’re as delicious as they come, totally satisfying without being heavy and afternoon nap-inducing. As for the sides, I alternate among the potato salad, baked beans and cornbread. Be aware that parking can be tough at both locations: The lot is on the small side and shared with other businesses at the Main Street location, and it’s street parking on 12th. However, I’ve never let a little problem like parking keep me from Edley’s.

On a Sunday morning in Nashville we wanted two things, barbecue and football. Edley’s certainly fit the bill. We arrived a little before noon and the place was practically empty; however, a line was practically out the door by 1:00 pm. It wasn’t too cold too sit on the patio so many had to go that route as the dining room filled up. You’ve been warned. My boyfriend wanted ribs but know that they only serve ribs at dinner, and only serve brisket at lunch. I went with the pulled pork sandwich and sides of baked beans and the grits casserole. I was really impressed with the pork! It was juicy and had a nice smoked flavor to it. I doused it with some awesome BBQ sauce which only took it up a notch. The grits casserole was a very pleasant surprise, and I stole bites of the brisket which was so juicy and tender. Where Edley’s definitely fell short was the cornbread. It was super dry and really didn’t do much for anyone at my table. You can order drinks at the bar and I wanted to try a Bushwacker before leaving Music City. This drink is STRONG. I couldn’t drink a whole one myself after indulging in all that BBQ but would maybe prepare better next time. Price point is good(like most spots I found in Nashville) and every game we wanted to watch was surrounding our table! Great Sunday in the books.

Pretty solid BBQ in Nashville, Unilocal did not steer us wrong. You order at the bar, find a table and they bring out the food to you. This time though there’s a bar so you can start getting toasty while you wait. Overall, not bad. I got the turkey plate and it was very tender, with red and white Bbq sauce. The creamy grits were excellent, the green beans were meh, but honestly I think that was more my taste than the way it was cooked. The cornbread was a total winner. My husband had the ribs which were both dry rub and Bbq and it was also very good. They have a cute porch for outdoor dining too.

Edley’s had pretty solid ratings and several plaques attesting that they’ve been voted«Best BBQ in Nashville» and for the most part, my experience reflected that. Interior: fairly basic — you order at the counter, take a number and they’ll bring your food out when it’s ready. If you want an alcoholic drink, you’ll order that separately at the bar. If you’re going to drink, you may as well sit at the bar since it saves you getting up and down. BBQ: I went with turkey because, health or something, and I also like it. As might be expected with such a lean meat, it was a tad dry but adding some of their«hot»(not really that hot) sauce helped. The portion was VERY generous for the price. The person I was with got the pulled pork and again, a very large portion for the price. Sides: My meal came with 2 sides — options on the chalkboard, plus a piece of cornbread that was dry as the Sahara. I picked mac’n’cheese and wished I hadn’t, it was pasty and flavorless. All was redeemed however by their green beans which were so full of flavor I wished I had a huge bowl of them. A+ on those delicious beans. Service: too-cool-for-you hipster. The girl at the counter was nice, but our initial bartender was just rude! He pointedly ignored us at first, reluctantly took a drink order and sighed loudly when we dared to ask him for the sauce caddy that was right behind him. Life is hard, man. I get it — no reason to be an asshole, ya know? Anyway, as they got busier another bartender came on and he was cool, so I’m not letting one surly jerkface spoil the barrel. Drinks: Great beer selections, mostly craft and local. There are a good 8 – 10 craft cocktails in the $ 8 – 9 range which seemed a bit price considering BBQ plates are all under $ 13. Anyway, I can recommend the Bourbon Tea and after a few, I really didn’t care that they were $ 9. Verdict: very good BBQ, delicious beans, good but expensive drinks. If you have tattoos or a beard you will probably get better service than I did.

It’s voted the best BBQ in town for a reason… and my belly is always happy to reaffirm that vote! Edly’s is where I meet up with friends hopping quickly through town, where I take out of town visitors and where I always demand to both of them that they get extra BBQ sauce and extra seasoning on their fries. It’s a go to. Edly’s East is my nearby spot and it’s got of course the great southern casual atmosphere with a strong a bar of rotating tap options and local brews in mason jars, indoor and outdoor seating and a bar top filled with all of your saucy needs. Their BBQ is smoked and stuffed into the samdwiches, their sauces are sweet spicy smokey fabulous and their fries… oh their fries are crispy perfection with a fabulous home mix spice on it — you have got to get extra on your fries! I’ve done the tacos and soups and brisket here as well — all just knock it out of the park when you want some smokey saucey southern goodness to stuff yourself on. It’s a go to that I love to treat myself on occasion for and love even more to show off to guests as some fabulous Nashville BBQ.

Realistically came here because we had passed by to take a picture of the«I believe in Nashville» mural. Stopped in for a beer and maybe an appetizer. The line was enormous so we headed to the bar to see if we could order there. Snagged a couple of seats and ordered some bloody Mary’s and the brisket nachos. The bartenders behind the bar(and this is the only reason I’m giving this place four stars) proceeded to have a two minute conversation right in front of our faces about their cats, all the while ignoring the fact we were trying to have a drink. Finally they asked what we wanted and made it. The drinks were really good so no complaints there. The brisket nachos were out of this world amazing and we almost ate the plate. Loved the bar ambience so I wish we didn’t have a full day of touring planned and stayed there having more drinks and hearing about people’s cats. By the look of the even longer line when we left, this place is definitely popular and with just reason.

We enjoyed dinner at Edley’s although the layout of the restaurant is strange… you have to get into one line to order your food at the back, then order your own drinks separately at the bar up front, all while trying to score a table for yourself. Overly complicated in my opinion. Also huge disappointment that brisket is only served at lunch!!! We liked the food we had though. Portions are huge and we recommend both the ribs and the fried catfish. Sides were just okay(Mac and cheese was particularly bland) except for the chili which I thought was excellent.

Stopped in to eat, as previous stops were only for bushwhackers. I had the catfish sandwich, which was recommend by friends, and it was probably the best I’ve ever had! I was a bit dissapointed about the mac and cheese, it wasn’t the chessy goodness I was hoping for, but a baked mac and cheese that was more breaded than cheesy. My boyfriend told me that most bbq places carry the baked mac and cheese, so lesson learned! My boyfriend had the ribs and greens and loved everything about it! They also had the regular bushwhackers and WhiskeyWhackers!

Came here for dinner tonight and overall we were disappointed with food and service. Atmosphere: super cute décor, family friendly, cute tables in and out, super modern, clean Staff: The woman cashier was rude, unkempt, seemed tired and annoyed to be at work. The men & server all were very pleasant. Food: I could look past the staff if the food was amazing, but it was anything but :( The good: Chicken Sandwich, tasty, nice bread Corn bread: two of the ppl had outsanding fluffy bread, I had a burnt corner piece: the kind you give to someone you hate, or throw away Baked beans: delicious The ok: Bannana pudding: a tad sweet, not horrible, not the best I’ve had by a long shot Turkey sandwich: dry The bad: The ribs: sad to say I’ve had better in New York City, but I have, wayyyyy better. They were hard to choke down, super dry. They should just melt off the bone, these tasted like they had been forgotten on the grill The chicken platter: super dry chicken breast, drowned with sauce it was edible. I won’t be coming back. If you do come maybe try the fish, that seemed to be the thing to order.
