History
Established in 2014.
Scout’s was created by Brooke Asbury, owner of Hot Yoga of East Nashville and Keila Rokkan, manager and stylist from Birds Barbershop in Austin and Rudy’s Barbershop in Seattle. Brooke and Keila are lifelong friends from the Pacific Northwest and are excited to bring their style and vision to Nashville, creating a space where people can get a cut and also hang out and connect with people in the community.
The name, Scout’s, came from Scout Finch of To Kill a Mockingbird. Scout, a tomboy girl who wasn’t afraid to be different and to speak up for what was right. «I think there’s just one kind of folks. Folks.»
Meet the Business Owner
Keila T.
Business Owner
After graduating from the Washington’s top-ranked Gene Juarez Beauty Academy, Keila Trevino began hairstyling at Rudy’s Barbershop in Seattle. With over 10 locations across the West Coast and in New York, Rudy’s revived the rock and roll unisex salon when it was founded in 1993. Because of Keila’s exceptional skills and stylish take on easy looks she quickly joined the Rudy’s education team. She taught cuts, color and styling with Bumble & Bumble products.
After 7 years, Keila moved to Austin to work for Birds Barbershop. After ascending to a manager position at the unisex, walk-in salon, in 2011 Keila became Lead Educator for cutting and product education for the styling staff of 100 over 6 locations. When Verb Products was launched in Birds, Keila became instrumental in product development and was a natural fit for Verb Education Director.
In 2014, Keila joined business partner and friend, Brooke, in Nashville to open the first unisex barbershop in East Nashville, Scout’s!
