Green Pea Salon

I relocated from Atlanta earlier this year and tried Green Pea on 12 South. Overall, I liked the salon, but the parking is a bit of an issue (small spaces in a small lot). Avery cut my hair, and I really like her as a person. I tried for about 8 months, but while I felt like the color was what I wanted, unfortunately the cuts on my wavy hair weren’t working.

For any gal that has ever relocated you know that finding a new hair dresser is quite the task. Thanks to a wonderful recommendation from a friend of mine I discovered Green Pea salon and worked with Brandon aka Highlight God. He was so warm, personable, talented and efficient. The salon is cozy and quaint filled with wonderful staff. I highly recommend for any blonde looking for an expert colorist and wonderful experience. Brandon, you’ve gained yourself a new regular client!

Rachel Lawhead is an amazing stylist and so fun to hang with while you get a cut and color! The space was awesome and had a cute coffee bar. The chairs are comfy and staff is super friendly. Rachel fixed my hair up after some time away from a good cut and highlights. She saved me!

Jana all the way for the thick /​unmanageable /​frizzy hair!
I just moved to the area and needed a major overhaul on my hair — it’s thick and frizzy and I wear it in a long bob and my previous stylists had struggled to sufficiently lighten /​thin my hair in such a way that it was actually a cute cut. Jana did a great job though and I feel like it’s the first time in a while that I’ve really been excited and thrilled with my haircut. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend her for people with a large + unmanageable mane of hair.
And FYI, the cut was $ 60.

I love this salon because the front desk staff are super friendly and my stylist, Paula, was great too. The first thing I loved was walking in to the most wonderful holiday fragrance. It was a pleasant surprise to me that they had a great selection of candles for sale, hair products and my favorite chocolates, Vosges. The staff offered me a nice cup of pumpkin spice coffee. It’s an elegant salon without being stuffy. I was only there for a hair trim, but I definitely plan to return. I love to support businesses that make the extra effort for their customers. I felt very comfortable there, and it was a relaxing and fun experience.

Thank you Mindy! Epic job! The front desk girls are very sweet (not uppity and awkward like many top salons which I HATE), the salon is comfortable and cute, and my stylist did a fantastic job! I had no choice but to cut my hair to shoulder length due to some thinning, and she took my ratchety hair and turned it into something I once again love. This was not an easy task and she completely nailed it :-D. I’m incredibly picky and I highly recommend this salon and Mindy.

I LOVE Erika at Green Pea. She really listens, is attentive, professional and does a great job. The prices are spendy, but in Nashville, everything is spendy in the trendy neighborhoods, but I like the convenience. I have been a fan of Erika since my first cut and recommend her without reservation. She is worth the cost.

Jana is fantastic with my thick, wavy/​curly hair. I was hooked after the first visit with her and have been back several times since. I always leave with a great cut and feel a million times lighter (seriously, my hair is thick). She offers great feedback about what will and won’t work with your hair, and is willing to find a cut that works for you. On a personal note, I like that I don’t have to be super chatty at this salon. Everyone is laid back and I don’t feel like an oddball for being a little on the quiet side.

5 stars for Brandon Tynes. I move here from San Francisco, and dreaded finding a new stylist. I found Brandon right off the bat. He understands my super thick, wavy hair — and the color is perfect. Every time. A little bit lighter in the summer, a little less in the winter. I completely trust his direction on my hair. So glad I found him!

I swear I don’t know why this place is getting rave reviews. I went there several times and had a stylist I loved, BUT (a) she took maternity leave and didn’t mention it to me; (b) the girl on the phones made me an appointment with her in spite of the fact she wouldn’t be there when the date rolled around; and © I cancelled my useless appointment (with my stylist who wouldn’t even be there) and tried someone else in the salon who had no personality, acted like I was interrupting her life, and oh yeah gave me a crap cut/​color. Then they had the nerve to call me with attitude b/​c I hadn’t cancelled my appointment. The one that shouldn’t have been made in the first place. The one I actually called and cancelled … are you confused yet? I was. Life is short so I went elsewhere!

I followed my stylist, Jen Deaderick from another salon in Green Hills to this salon at 12 South when it opened. I have always been a fan of hers; she is honest and will tell you if she doesn’t think a style will work for you, and will find one that you love. She is great with subtle shadings of color, layering low and highlights on a base color to give you a textured, realistic look. At least, that is what I like. I know if you wanted a purple stripe, she’d be able to conjure that up as well. She has taken me through several different lengths over the years, and I have always been happy with them, even though I have «difficult» hair (thick, crazy wavy). The only negative about Jen is that she is so popular that you have to make an appointment about 4 – 5 weeks out. Which, once you get one, isn’t that bad. Just be sure to make your next appointment when you pay for the one you just had.
The salon itself is very pleasant, with an open feel and a large floor to ceiling window taking up most of the front wall. (I think this was a garage in another lifetime.) It is a nice size, not tiny but intimate enough to feel like you aren’t being processed. They offer water, coffee or tea, and also have Vosges chocolate available for purchase.
Green Pea is located in the heart of 12 South, so after getting your hair done it can be fun to meet friends at any of the restaurants close by (think Burger Up, directly across the street, or Sloco or even Las Paletas) to show off your newly sophisticated looking self.
I have never had a problem finding parking in their lot.

For all guys out there looking for an excellent, intelligent stylist who will actually talk with you about your hair, choose Sophia. She is by far the best stylist I’ve ever had. She is very patient, doesn’t rush, and you can tell she always puts in 100% effort because she enjoys what she does. In other words, Sophia is the opposite of most other stylists.
As for green pea — it’s dude friendly. Not overly girly and everyone there is cool.

While traveling I found Green Pea Salon. They use Goldwell Color products, which I have used for years. Sophia did a fantastic color retouch and added a little of her own creativeness to my red hair, which I loved. She also gave me a fantastic cut. She is very conscientious and professional. Only wish I didn’t live so far away but if I am in the Nashville area again, I’ll be calling Green Pea and booking with Sophia!

It’s a big deal for me to commit to a hair stylist. No really. When I moved to Nashville and up until I met Cindy at Green Pea I had been to I think four other places. Three out of the four other places were okay, the one that was a total failure also happened to the priciest. Green Pea is convenient to my work and Cindy has openings at times that work for me. She doesn’t take 9 hours to make my hair perdy either, which I appreciate.
Every time I’ve come to Green Pea I’ve felt welcomed and comfortable. Sometimes in fancy salons I feel totally out of place, like my purse isn’t expensive enough to match the $ 300 smock they’ve snapped around my neck. Green Pea is modern and super cool but without a pretentious atmosphere and snooty people. Cindy has styled my hair at least 4 times now and every time was awesome and I was done in under an hour (usually around 45 minutes). I have fine limp hair and sometimes I can be quite specific about my bangs, but every time it comes out exactly how I’ve imagined it. I think you just have to find the right person, the person who you can communicate with about what you’re looking for and I guess Cindy is my person. She’s also not an incessant talker, we talk for sure but not the entire time and not with filler conversation about dumb things. I really appreciate that too. I also find her pricing very reasonable, especially as a returning client.
My only beef is that they are a Bumble & Bumble salon, and I generally avoid any synthetic products on my body (or in it for that matter) but goshdarnit B&B makes my hair look really good for a couple of days.
I definitely recommend this Salon!

Just moved to Nashville and on a whim decided to get my hair CHOPPED… which is always a scary experience.
I didn’t spend a lot of time searching for ‘the right’ salon — I was just going to go to the first place that had an opening that day.
I called at 9:30am and was able to get a 10am appointment with Cindy — which was perfect because it left me no time to change my mind!
First of all; the salon is ADORABLE. Right on 12^th, it’s a perfect location.
Cindy, my stylist was great. I have very high maintenance hair and she addressed all of the issues I have with it.
My cut and color was $ 140 which I thought was reasonable considering the last minute appointment time and the finished product — which I was beyond pleased with.
I sent a picture of my new ‘do to my dad and he showed the rest of the family and even some of his work friends — I’ve been getting rave reviews!
I also purchased shampoo, conditioner and a few B&B styling products. Love B&B, think it’s a great line to carry!

Ask for Jana. A fun little salon with affordable haircuts, and talented stylists. Plus they’re prettier than my old barer was any day.

I just started going here about a year ago. My former stylist whom I loved just kept moving! Studio Gaven-​EyeCandy-​Platinum (in EAST nashville way 2 far). I couldn’t take it and the bill was becoming well over $ 200 with zero atmosphere and it took her 3hrs to do my hair. So one of my friends who has AMAZING hair told me about Kristen. She use to work at Fruition but moved to Green Pea Salon (where Bloke was) on 12^th ave. Its a smaller salon that uses the best products ever. After two visits I have total faith in her. So many of my friends have started going because she is just that good. For highlights (3 colors), cut and style it was $ 160 which I felt was amazing. Perfect atmosphere, great people, fabulous hair. Enough said.
