Great cuts on the cheap, done in no time!
I know $ 23 seems pricey to some, but there aren’t many cheaper options in Nashville unless you go to some strip mall chain hair place. Joe’s is a real barber shop. He cuts hair and is damn good at it. No frills, and he gets you in and out very quickly! I’m always impressed how good it looks when I’ve been in a chair for 5 minutes!
Joe’s does walk-​ins, which is great because you’re never having to wait for very long.

Joe is a great barber and an even greater guy. His prices are only a little higher than what you’d pay at SportsClips or Supercuts, but the cut you get for the price is phenomenal. My only gripe is that he often leaves before his posted closing time; occasionally I’ll walk all the way over at 4pm only to find the place empty and locked up with an apology on the door. It’s worth cutting him some slack, though, when you consider he’s a one-​man operation and that he’s only human. Otherwise, Joe’s definitely a cut above the rest and I’d recommend him any day.

Best barber shop in the Vandy and Belmont area! There were no line so I got my haircut in no time and it is perfect!

There’s some things I don’t understand about Nashville ever since I came here. The first is left turns. I’ve been in less danger walking through South Central at night alone with two shiny Apple Store bags filled with medium sized «He spent the big bucks» boxes and no free hands to defend myself/​call the cops/​karate chop than I am here in Nashville turning left at various populated streets near Vanderbilt or West End.
The second is how much people pay for hair cuts. $ 23 is not «cheap», by any means. If you want to give this place 4 or 5 stars for being a great cut or having a good atmosphere or because you like the owner, that’s great. I even applaud it. But designating a business as «cheap», is not something you do because you like them and feel like their work surpasses the fee of entry. You designated a business as cheap when the price is on the lower scale for what people expect to pay for that service or product. For example, I can say Dunkin’ Donuts is one $ sign and three stars because their coffee is in fact, cheap, and also rather mediocre.
I feel lied to when I find this business after filtering one $ sign because I’m looking for a cheap cut, and finding out that I could go to the movies, see Mission Impossible in IMAX with 3D glasses and buy a large Coke for the same price I pay for a haircut here… Before tip.
Maybe Joe’s is a great place to get a haircut. Maybe it isn’t. But I wasn’t looking for a $ 23 haircut when I found Joe’s in the list, which takes away from the places that truly deserve the one $ sign.

Excellent cut. Every time. After hunting for a barber in Nashville for months there’s no one that compares to Joes.

If you want a great haircut Joe’s is the place. I got tired of going to salons and the stylists always having to put their «thing» on it by giving me a hair «do» instead of the simple haircut I was asking for. I finally got wise a couple years ago and tried out Joe’s and I haven’t gone anywhere else since. Joe gives great cuts for a reasonable price.

Great place, great haircut. Tommy was my barber and did a great job and had great conversation. What I’m trying to say is this was great. It is kind of buried in a little plaza off the road. Cant wait to go back.

Always a good cut at Joe’s. If your a tight pants soup bowl hat dude don’t bother. Head to pink mullet !!

With a little searching, you’ll find this old school shop with three barber chairs and six seats for those waiting.
It only took 35 minutes for the seven guys to get groomed before me. Joe flys when he’s buzzing or scissoring. He’s chatty and warm, but he’s focused on cutting. It’s great that he can cut and talk at the same time.
I stopped in for a beard trim. Joe took a minute to hear what I wanted and gave it to me. He did a great job.

Was looking for this type of place to get my haircut. Quick, convenient and friendly. Joe’s met all three of those. Walked in just as someone was finishing up, jumped in the chair and was out the door in less than fifteen minutes. Haircut was great. Probably not where I will go to get my next perm, but for a haircut, fantastic. I definitely recommend Joe’s

Finding someone good to cut your hair is kind of a pain, especially if you don’t want to spend $ 50 on a haircut. That’s why going to Joe has been so great. He’s quick, cheap, and, most importantly, I leave the chair actually liking the way my hair looks. I haven’t found another place that hit all three of those targets.

Recently moved from SF and was looking for new place to get my haircut. It’s not a salon, so if you require extensive styling I don’t know if this is the place for you. The place has a great old school barbershop vibe from the antique crank-​operated cash register to the barber’s pole out front. I’m a «regular dude» and I thought that the hair cut was great! Joe was very professional, I described how I get my haircut back home and he knew exactly what he was doing making the haircut quick, out in 10 – 15 min. Prices have gone up since last person posted ($ 19) and parking may be hard to find.

I’ve only been to a barber shop twice in the past five years, so I can’t say I’ve done extensive shopping around. But every once in a while, amid cycles of growing my hair out and letting my friends shave it off, I decide to let a professional help me out.
My hair needs are simple — I don’t need it styled, I just need it shorter. And I’m two for two in the victory column when getting that done at Joe’s. It’s quick, cheap, friendly, and ESPN was on… what more does a guy need from a haircut?

I always get my hair cut at Joe’s. Cool shop, affordable, and I never leave disappointed. Usually in and out in 15 minutes or less!

This place is fine if you’re a regular dude who likes to get a regular old buzz-​cut. Joe is a great guy and means really well… but if you’re like me and have gotten used to having a professional, fairly sophisticated $ 30-​$ 50 haircut that looks as good the day its done as well as two months later this place is not for you.
I was amazed to be «all done» about 6 minutes after I sat down to get my mid-​length, wavy/​messy hair cut into something more presentable. I paid my $ 17 and headed home to finished cutting the long hair left sticking out around my ears and the random long ones hanging down in my face. I hate to give this place a bad review, because its locally owned and Joe is rad, but you should stay away of you want anything remotely sophisticated done with your hair.

Solid, well-​deserved 5 stars.
Finding a barber (or a hairstylist, as some prefers to be called) is one of the more daunting tasks upon moving to a new city. I mean, what kind of chances are we taking here?! Will my co-​workers make fun of me tomorrow? Maybe they already do, but will my bad haircut make them more relentless? Will they make me cry?
Joe is a superstar. I walked in, no apopintments needed (or accepted), he sat me down, immediately knew what I wanted, and delivered the cut with razor precision. In and out in 15 minutes, for a mere $ 15. No fuss. I was so happy I passed out a little.
It’s like Rachmaninoff pouring from the fingers of a bouncer. Amazing.

I’ve been 3 times now and i was almost reluctant to go back after my initial visit. I first went on a weekend and got a cut by a gentlemen other than Joe. I was happy enough with the haircut, but nothing too out of the ordinary, especially after having to wait around for a bit.
I decided to give the place another shot and went on a weekday afternoon and got my hair cut by Joe. This guy really knows what he’s doing with clippers, no scissors involved here. I’ve usually gotten my haircut with a straight razor, but Joe does a damn fine job with clippers. i always opt for the straight razor neck shave as opposed to the machine.
I’ve since been back twice and I’m in and out within 15 minutes. And the best part about getting a haircut at Joe’s is that you can go across the street to Dulce Desserts and get a killer brownie.
$ 15 bucks gets you a cut, $ 25 for shave, and don’t ask Joe to color your hair.

I am a fan of all the retail development in Villa Place. I stopped in to Joe’s one time for a haircut and was pleased. I definitely don’t have many style requirements, hair wise. Something close to a high and tight works for me. Even then, though, it can be a bit dicey going to a different barber. Yes, ladies, it makes a difference for us as well. Joe got it just right. He also was a friendly guy. I didn’t have to wait which was nice since at my normal barber shop there is always a line. Always. If I remember correctly, he takes credit cards which is good news.
I would give Joe a shot and see what you think. It is a convenient location for a haircut, and the price is right as well.
