The Moose Men’s Grooming Lounge

Gave my 16 yr old son a fantastic haircut. I thought so but most importantly, he thought so… and he is hard to please. At first I was a little nervous bringing him to The Moose because it serves only men and only women work there. I thought I might be taking him to the Hooters of the the barbershop world but thankfully I was wrong. Toni was very nice and listened to what my son wanted… And was fully dressed lol The Moose is in a renovated older house and tastefully decorated with men in mind. My son called it the ultimate man cave. Thank you Toni, he’ll be back.

Overrated, overpriced, no client value.
Below is an e-​mail I sent April, owner, and stylist that I saw this past week. I should make note that I have not received a response from her; however, the salon later contacted me (via text) for feedback. From that, I also have not received a response.
In my e-​mail to April, I mention leaving the salon with a wet head. I’ll post a picture for reference.
I’ll say that if I were an owner/​stylist, I would be embarrassed to let my client leave in the shape I left The Moose.

You cut my hair just a little while ago. I was so excited to try out The Moose, but sad to say that I left very disappointed. I didn’t realize it until I left, but my hair was still so wet that it was dripping down onto my shirt, leaving a stain from the product you used in my hair.
You seemed quiet and reserved in the moment, but looking back, I don’t feel as though I was valued as a client. My visit was extremely rushed and impersonal.
I’m not one who typically e-​mails when disappointed by service, but I do want to let you know my impression.

All employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Service exceptional. They have a great line of beard oils and balms. The price was less than I was quoted. I will be back for sure.

My boyfriend has been on the hunt for an awesome haircut and I saw the great reviews so he decided to give it a try. I was a little skeptical at first, because of the heavy emphasis on drinks. My fear was that the focus would be too much on beverages and not enough on a quality haircut but I was wrong.
Upon arrival you are asked what you would like to drink. The waiting room is very cozy almost like a living room or man cave feel. Kevin was his stylist/​barber. Usually I’m the hair consultant but we liked Kevin’s hair so we went with that.
The end result was an undercut: longer on top and very low back and sides. So ladies it is girlfriend approved and I would definitely recommend Kevin!

The Shave That Time Forgot –or– Don’t ‘Sweeny Todd’ me!
I called around 11:30AM to make an appointment for a classic straight razor shave, they set me up with an appointment at 1:00PM that day (Wednesday 8÷12÷15).
The area in which the place is located doesn’t really do justice to the business itself. So don’t judge the business by the area. If you park out behind the business make sure to park on the LEFT side. The right side is reserved for another business, and they (the other businesses) will not hesitate to have you towed. Walking in you feel like you have stepped back in time, in the best way.
After telling them my name and that I had an appointment, they pointed to the wall behind the front desk which had a list of various high end whisk (e)ys, and asked «What would you like?». Almost immediately after sitting down in a comfortable leather chair I was handed my glass of Gentleman Jack on the rocks. (They do also have water, beer and, I believe, soda)
I waited for only a few minutes before my barber (Kevin) introduced himself. Very nice guy, very cordial. Just the right amount of pleasant conversation.
The shave itself was nothing short of excellent. For those who have never experienced a classic straight razor shave, its less of a service and more of a full blown experience. From the lemon essence, hot lathered shaving cream and hot towels, to the bracing burn (or no burn, YOUR CHOICE!) of the aftershave and refreshing ice cold towels, everything works together and builds each layer of the experience upon itself to give you a shave that you will never forget.
While the price ($ 65 plus tip) makes this more of a special occasion treat than a regular thing, it is more than worth the price.
As I was walking back to the counter to pay I saw the resident chocolate lab (Titan) walking around like he owns the place and without a care in the world.
While I cannot comment on the other services offered at The Moose, I CAN say that if they are even close to the level of service and quality that I received, then you owe it to yourself to visit. You will not be disappointed.
P. S. While I was in the middle of writing this review I received a text message from the business thanking me for my business and asking if all was well with my appointment yesterday. That, to me, was a nice touch.

Price is a little high, but well worth it for the special occasion, or if you care enough about your hair. 100% quality and service, in all aspects. Best one blade shave in town, and A+ environment. — Weekends usually have a Bloody Mary bar, and if you’re into cigars, try the man cave downstairs. — Highly recommend for bachelor parties.

Found them on Unilocal! Awesome Men’s barber. This is a true men’s high end barber. They didn’t miss any amenity! Awesome barbers, Jamie Nicole was awesome, especially for her first time cutting my hair it was perfect! Highly Recommended!

Came here with a Bachelor’s Party and had a great time. We had the man cave in the basement to hang out, drink and smoke cigars. Perfect size for 10 or fewer people.
We all appreciated the staff’s courteous, professional service and would highly recommend this place to others.
Get the scalp therapy upgrade, it’s a nice touch.

I really enjoyed my «mans spa day» equivalent. Very personal service, timely and great atmosphere. And I loved the finished product– me, getting exactly the cuts and look I had hoped for.

Hiding in a not so little house on 16^th Avenue lies your salvation.
The Moose On Music Row boasts an impressive list of both beer and cocktails, and those aren’t even the real draw to bring you in the door. A trio of beautiful women and their immense talents are what keeps the men coming back for more. Whether you are in need of a simple hair cut and beard trim, or are feeling like a particular day of spoiling and you need s scalp therapy, they will not only take care of you, but do so in a such a thoughtful and caring way that you’d think you’re paying them much more than you are.
After making an easy appointment online, I arrived and was warmly greeted at the door by my appointed stylist Toni. After a few pleasantries I was given my choice of a complimentary beer or whiskey and left to relax for a few minutes in a waiting room I can only liken to the worlds greatest hunting cabin. Complete with leather chairs, comfortable couches, a fireplace, and an extremely friendly chocolate lab names Titan keeping an eye on things.
Toni guided me back through to her station and sat me down to learn exactly what I was looking for that afternoon before taking me back for a long and relaxing shampoo, scalp massage, and hot towel treatment that comes complimentary with every haircut. Already extremely at east, she handed me a towel to dry my hair and lead me back to her chair where she expertly cut my usually wild hair down in perfect style all while keeping up a conversation worthy of the best late night bar room. She moved with absolute confidence and speed as we talked. After finishing off my hair, she lathered up my neck and commenced with the closest strait razor shave of the back of my neck, leaving me feeling like a million bucks and ready to hit the town on a Friday night. After a quick return trip the shampoo station for a wash and a rinse, she styled me with some of The Moose’s fine in house products and let me know I was free to finish my cocktail or even step downstairs into their private cigar lounge to enjoy the rest of my afternoon.
In just a short 45 minutes, I felt like a new man. Stylish, relaxed, confident, and ready to take over the world later that evening, after a nice cigar of course.
My advice? Run, don’t walk, to The Moose. Say «hi» to Titan. Tell him I sent you.
He’ll save you a good seat.

I’ve been trying a find a place that won’t screw my hair up since I’ve moved to town. I guess this is not the place.
I’m a guy with long hair. When I found the moose on Unilocal,I was pretty excited. Pretty good reviews. The Moose employs stylists which both possess salon and barber backgrounds… I was intrigued. I could finally get a cut and a beard trim at the same place! When I called to make an appointment I specifically mentioned that I had long hair and wanted someone who had a background in cutting long hair correctly.
When I got there for my appointment I was told that the stylist was running behind and that I should have a drink and wait in the lounge. I had a good craft brew and waited… no problem, I wasn’t in a rush.
It took a while, but I was finally taken back to have my hair washed. That was pretty awesome, a nice head massage, a hot towel over my face… so far so good.
Then, I was taken to finally meet the stylist… (err… probably more of a barber as you’ll find out as you read my review). The «stylist» I had ended up being a guy… There was no guy listed on the website, only women stylists, so I never got to see his credentials. All of the girls listed on the Moose’s website have been to salon/​styling schools as well as having barber backgrounds. Since I was told that my long hair wouldn’t be a problem, I didn’t worry too much.
We discussed what I wanted to do… trim the dead ends, don’t take off too much, all one length except for a slight angle in the front (which already exists in my current cut). I also wanted my neck and around my ears cleaned up so that if I pulled my hair back, it would look clean.
I should point out that the «stylist» was super nice and concerned with how I wanted my hair cut. But with that said, if you don’t have the skills to deal with my long hair and cut it the correct way, just don’t touch it!
Lastly, I wanted a beard trim… the beard trim was underwhelming at best. I expected a nice shaping up and cleaning of the lines near my neck and cheeks. All that he did was take clippers to the beard and trim some off of the sides. It took all of maybe a minute tops and charged me $ 15… for that? Sorry, but I can do that easily at home by myself for free. whatever…
Onto the result of the haircut… I’ve never had anyone cut my hair the way he did… he parted my hair down the middle and just started cutting the bottoms off… again, I figured he knew what he was doing. Usually a stylist will pull strands up and out from my head and trim them little by little. I’m not a hair stylists so I don’t know what is the correct technique or what is not… all I want is a good finished cut.
He asked if I wanted some leave in conditioner at the end of the cut… I always use leave in conditioner myself so I said yes… I ended up walking out of there with a crap ton of some of the heaviest leave in conditioner I’ve ever experienced so I had no clue what my cut really looked or felt like until I got home. It cost me $ 40, $ 5 more than any haircut has cost me before.
When I got home I realized that my neck and ears weren’t cleaned up well… I had to trim it myself with clippers. After that I immediately washed all of the crap out of my hair and realized that I have probably the 2^nd worst cut I’ve ever had. (Yes, I’ve had worse unfortunately) The hair doesn’t fall correctly and it’s way shorter than taking just the dead ends off as I had instructed. My hair is also super dry… I don’t know what kinds of products they used on my hair, but it stripped all of the softness and moisture out of my hair. I can’t wait until my hair grows back in a little so that in a few months I can try to find someone to fix this terrible cut! I guess I’ll be wearing it pulled back a lot for a while.
Yes, the place was cool… Beer, a cool ambiance, but If I’m unhappy with the results of the services I had done, who cares about that crap!
In the end my experience was terrible!

best haircut and shave i’ve ever had. amazingly sweet staff, great vibe, and no pretentious crap. Bravo!

It’s been quite a while since I wrote a review for The Moose so I’d thought I’d update it.
If you are a guy looking for an amazing experience and cut and you read no further, know this, GO HERE!
It’s not hard to explain what to like about The Moose. They are a high end barber, they cater exclusively to men, all the barbers are gorgeous women, they have leather chairs in their lounge, they offer you a complimentary adult beverage, they have a cigar lounge and poker room, every barber chair has its own tv, and I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting!
I’ve been a client of Laural Deh since I first sat in get chair. If you’re like me then finding «that barber» is important to you. I’ll miss her when I leave Nashville. Do yourself a favor and spend the $$$ and go here at least once.

Seriously? A#1, Crème de la crème. Tops. Bestest. Hostest with the mostest.
I am not an easy client. I am already, naturally, really good looking. So to improve upon that is no easy task. Laurel, my girl, knew this the first time we met and she still struggles with it to this day. Still, she marches on and does a great job of making better that which is near impossible to improve upon. When I leave Moose Men’s, I look and feel more beautiful than ever. Every time.

I hate writing bad reviews, but I think people should know this place is really not what it appears to be on its website.
I arrived early for my appointment and was not greeted for 15 minutes.
The décor looks more like a former grandma’s house with a few things added to make it feel like a men’s hangout. And it fails to do that. The house is not at all comfortable and the setup is JANKY. It’s a bunch if very separate rooms, each no larger than 200sf.
When I was finally greeted, I was given directions to follow the stylist back, then, «No wait, I have to cancel an appointment» then brought back to one of the haircut rooms (again, clunky layout). As soon as I was seated, the stylist said, «Oh, I have to go take care of something on the phone. I’ll be back in 5 minutes.» It was behavior not much different from someone with a substance abuse problem. After washing my hair, she introduced herself. Again, very bizarre.
I had a friend recommend the place, so I soldiered on. The haircut was, without exaggeration, the worst I’ve ever had. (I ended up buzzing my head when I got home it was so bad). My hair was about 5 inches long and we agreed she would cut about half the length off. I left with 1 inch of hair. The only time I can recall having a haircut even close to this bad was when I was in high school and just went to Great Clips.
They charge $ 40, which was about what I expected. However, I wouldn’t return there if they paid me $ 40 to come in.
Be forewarned, this place is best avoided. Total joke.

I rarely leave reviews. I’m visiting Nashville and was looking for a good place for a guy to get a manicure and shave. I walk in & they offer beer & buffalo trace. Thanks Shia for the cure! Definitely with the trip!

I just had my first experience at Moose Men’s Lounge and it was awesome! Right when you walk in you know it’s a place for men. There is a whole lounge area that has multiple flat screens all showing sports and you’re offered Whiskey or Beer right away. They had a great selection of bottle beer to choose from and on Saturdays they even have a Bloody Mary bar. There are also cigars available to purchase. Besides the awesome atmosphere, the haircut was outstanding. April was my stylist and she did a wonderful job. The haircut includes a full shampoo and head massage, complete with a hot towel treatment. There is also a neck shave at the end. The entire experience was relaxing and the haircut was great. I’ll definitely go back and I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quality haircut and overall great experience!

Men’s grooming has reached its apex, and it happened in Nashville, TN. These people just get it. The stylists are talented, the prices are more than reasonable ($ 35 for a simple haircut), and it’s all presented with a level of class normally reserved for the showroom at Ralph Lauren. They hand you a beer when you walk through the door, for crying out loud. Highly recommended.

This place is great. When i moved to Nashville I tried to find a place like this. In Dallas there were a few and it is an establishment tailored for men. What makes it even better is the great customer service and fantastic hair stylings of April.

If you can find the place — I searched for thirty minutes, hence the missing star– you will undoubtedly love every moment.
The product: (disclaimer, as with all great products, the experience is more than «the product, i.e., the haircut, and Moosehead is no exception, as the ambiance was what made this place great): regardless, the hair stylists are meticulous, striving to pay heed to the small things that Fantastic Sam’s can’t or doesn’t. The entire process lasted nearly an hour, and I left feeling that (a) I received a great value and (b) refreshed and groomed impeccably.
Ambiance: this place has a lot of it. It features leather, overstuffed chairs, dark wood flooring, a humidor stocked with cigars, several televisions tuned into ESPN and a moose with a clever necktie. An Abercrombie-​catalogue-​like, masculine spa.
Most salient, the haircut is amazing. Two shampoos, a scalp massage with mint tree-​oil, and a straight edge razor for pesky neck hair. Pampered experience. If there was a 4.5 stars, this place would merit it. As I said prior, however, it’s very hard to find. It’s located in a converted apartment-​complex, with several other hairstylists; several signs adorn the building, but the Moosehead is the least-​likely to be noticed; the door –which was closed — had but a single number (5), with no sign or «Moosehead lettering.» For how much $$ they have manifestly put into the interior, I don’t understand the lack of external advertising. Nonetheless, and as set forth above, the place is great. I will surely go back.
