I have been getting my hair done here since I moved to Nashville in May of last year and I adore my stylist Michael Jay. He is a true artist, as are many of the stylists at LH, and every time I go in I feel great when I leave. It’s wonderful to be able to totally trust someone to give you a great style! I definitely recommend checking out Local Honey’s salons.

AJ Franking is where it is at. She truly listens, gives a fantastic haircut and my color is always on point, plus she’s just rad. I’ve been a client with short hair, long hair and extensions. AJ for life.

I’m very particular about my hair (it’s huge, it’s curly, kinky, coarse). Most people can’t work with it… But, Lincoln at Local Honey is a hair miracle worker. I wanted to go from black hair to blonde without losing too much length… I cannot separate my hair from my identity and I knew I was asking for the impossible. But, she explained the process to me and was kind and patient. My hair looks AMAZING; not only do I love it, but, people are constantly asking me what my secret is… Her name is Lincoln and she’s a hair ninja goddess badass! You will walk out after a session with her and feel beautiful (one session with her and you’ll feel like you just completed two years of therapy) AND you’ll look fantastic too.

Such a great idea for a salon. This location has a bigger/​better selection of clothing in my opinion, but both are still awesome and worth checking out!

I just had my first appointment with Kate and she was fantastic! The place has great vibes, the clothes are cute, and the hair salon does wonderful work. I will definitely be going here from now on

Everyone knows about how great of a Vintage store Local Honey is, but what about the hair salon? Upstairs, past the mecca of fur coats and stylish blazers, lay an exceedingly fantastic hair salon. The atmosphere is small and cozy– something you want when dedicating a day at the salon. Seventy Jane and the rest of the staff are great, easy people to make conversation with, and don’t take themselves too seriously– also something that can be hard to come by at salons. They really do believe the customer is always right, so if you are unhappy with your hair they’ll fix it at no cost until you are satisfied. However, its unlikely you will be because the staff are professionals and quite good at their job. So next time you are shopping for vintage clothing, or getting a cup of coffee at Bongo Java next door, stop by Local Honey and visit the salon. I promise you will not be disappointed.

About the salon upstairs– Can I just say how much I LOVE Seventy Jane?!? I can’t imagine going to anyone else– I can show her a picture of a hair color and she matches it perfectly! It’s difficult to find experienced, hip stylists on the cutting edge of trends here in Nashville, but Seventy is on it! She also has a way with fun eccentric colors… Plus Local Honey has awesome clothes and accessories that I can’t resist buying every time I head to the salon.

So I definitely waivered on whether or not to post a review on here. I even waited over a month to do so to let my emotions calm a bit. I will be completely honest. I feel like the horrible experience I had here was at least partially my fault as well. I am reviewing the upstairs hair salon here not the store. I read the positive reviews of Kate and needed a trim after taking out my extensions so I booked an appt with her for a trim and some (thin, natural) highlights. I went in and told her what I wanted and even showed her several pics of both the color and the cuts and let her know I hated layers and did not care for bangs. She asked if I would be willing to do a collarbone length bob. I said yes, but that would be as short as I wanted to go with ANY of my hair– reiterating that I do not like layers and I felt (feel, even more now) that my hair has been thinning in the past 2 years. She began painting on my highlights and lowlights. I had never had painted on highlights before only foils, but I trusted she knew what was best. Also, I did not ask for lowlights so that kind of irked me, but again, I read all the wonderful reviews and trusted she was going to make me look fabulous. The color was rinsed out and Kate assured me it was great. Wet it looked ok. She bgan cutting. Then dried it and cut some more. IT started looking very mushroom-​y. I asked her to stop the course we were on because I hated it and it looked very layered and like a mushroom. She then explained to me that «because I have a long face I needed lots of layers higher up on my head to even things out». I was almost in tears. She also brought out thinning scissors. Why would you use thinning scissors on someone with thinning concerns? The shortest layer at this point was just underneath my eyes with the length being down between my shoulder blades. Its a mullet! But also a mushroom! How can this be? I told her I hated the cut and she offered to cut off 2 more inches. From where? was my question. And then the color… Oh my… When she was all finished she asked if I liked it. With tears about to spill over I said «Absolutely not». Then she proceeded to charge me $ 135 and tell me it was just hair and would grow out. WHAT? I say that I take partial blame because I sat there and I felt uneasy about it and let it happen. I should have run way sooner. I literally had my hair in a ponytail before I was even in the car.
To their credit I did contact the owner and request a refund and they did refund my money, but not the tip (which I foolishly left because I am a nice person).
I really just wanted to let people know that the rave reviews are either made up or just had the best luck ever here. If I can figure out how to do it I will share the lovely pictures of my horrid hair. BTW, 1.5 months later I am still dealing with the consequences. I had to pay $ 250 to get the color corrected and I refuse to cut my hair more to «fix» this haircut.

My main experience with this store has actually been the hair salon. It started within the past year, but after five years in Nashville looking for a perfect haircut, I finally found it. Joseph Likins was my hair stylist. I only asked for a simple cut, but being a true gentleman, he made a simple cut look awesome. He was kind and professional. The price on the haircut, for a men’s cut, was $ 25. I was sure to add a tip, because this was a fantastic haircut, with a better price tag than other higher end cuts I’ve had. The salon looks wonderful too. It’s upstairs, and it’s a walk-​in sort of thing. I wasn’t sure of that, so I walked up there the first time, and wasn’t sure how to go about it. I walked downstairs and the man behind the checkout desk helped me get setup. Props to helping customers :)
The actual store is not something I have had plentiful experience with. This is a personal note to myself to check it out again. I have bought some sunglasses from there for $ 15 that I enjoyed, and the people working the storefront are kind. The clothing selection seems wonderful, but it’s possibly, just like anywhere else of this caliber, that your size might not be present. This is understandable though.
I highly recommend this for a haircut, men’s or women’s. The store is sure to be something of interest if you are into vintage styled clothing. It’s at least worth a gander every so often.

I can’t comment on the hair salon part (but with the reviews I might just have to check them out). However, the vintage shop is great and honestly for such a «hip boutique» feel I don’t often expect great customer service but they were great! Style and great people = I’m sold!

I get my haircut regularly with Seventy Jane & wouldn’t go anywhere else. And yes, I’ve been to Parlour & Juke heaps of times. She’s really good with my hair & doesn’t overcharge & the atmosphere is chilled & I can’t say enough good things about it.
Highly recommended!

Aside from this place being a vintage must, it also is a salon must! My girl, Seventy Jane, being a blonde specialist convinced me to dye my hair blonde. I’ve been a brunette my entire life and hadn’t really given another hair color much thought. We tested the waters by doing an hombre first which I loved. After a few months of the hombre, I decided to take the blonde plunge and put my trust in Seventy’s skills. Not only did she do an amazing job, but she took the time to be a perfectionist in making sure my color was perfect. I’m going back to have my roots touched up next week and can’t wait. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my hair and if you want to take the blonde plunge too, please do yourself a favor by using, Seventy Jane. She’s the real deal!
I also want to recommend Sue (Susanah Limbert) who is I’m sure great at cutting hair. She did an incredible job styling my hair for the swan ball. If you are a man, use Joseph Likins, he knows how to shape up men’s hair real good too. :)

Everyone at Local Honey is incredibly friendly and I would definitely recommend checking out the guys and girls vintage clothing.
If you’re near Belmont Blvd, you absolutely have to check out Local Honey.

My stylist for years has been Susanah (Su) & she has now moved upstairs @ Local Honey. It is very hard to find some who can tame my thick, course hair but this gal has what it takes. As a measure of how great a cut she gives, my hair remained reasonably manageable on the beach in humid Pensacola right after my last cut. Beach hair be damned! I highly recommend you check her out when your next appt time rolls around. You’ll get a great cut and color in a really hip, laid back environment to boot.

Nice guys in here, no snoot. Got some encouragement on an item without it rolling over into hardsell. A little bit of everything in here but the shop definitely has a distinct personality. And the item I decided on was pretty reasonably priced, the classy look and feel and vibe of the store had me expecting to pay more. Good stuff!

I’ve not much frequented the store for the vintage clothing (which looks fabulous and they have great deals all the time), but the hair shop upstairs! Jesse Mangrum has been doing my hair for about 3 years now and I am extremely sad that I am moving. She will listen to what the client wants and put her own twist on it. She will always make you leave feeling like a million bucks!

I love this place! I followed my hairstylist to this location (there is a salon on the second floor) and couldn’t be happier. Jesse Mangrum is my stylist, and this woman knows what she’s doing. I have had many services done by her (hair, waxing, nails, etc) and have never left feeling less than excited and well pampered. She’s really sweet and very knowledgeable about her craft. If I show up early, I love to shop around downstairs. The staff is really nice! I love their selection of clothes and for the quality and style you get, the prices are very good! The location is great and there are plenty of food options close by, so you can do some shopping, pampering, and eating all in one small area! Highly recommended :-)

It was OK, I did not find anything I could not live without. The staff was friendly, a very small selection that was way over priced. I did not agree with local honey version of «vintage», but who knows maybe it was my taste.

This particular review is for the new (ish) hair salon that resides on the second level of Local Honey.
When I found out that my trusty hair girl (Kate Workman) was going to have a permanent spot in their salon, I was more than excited. It takes quite a bit for me to fully trust someone with my hair, and Kate has always done the trick.
The atmosphere upstairs is just as cute as it is downstairs, and the few times I’ve been in it’s never been overly crowded or hard to relax.

Attention please. Calling all scientists around the world: can you please get on discovering that whole teleporting thing?
The sooner the better, please. It’s an emergency.
I need to be able to shop at Local Honey in Nashville whenever I want and that’s just not possible living all the way in Cleveland, you see. I must browse through hand-​picked vintage goodies that make me drool when I fancy-​a-​shop. It’s imperative that I scope out fabulous, perfectly worn boots, adorable, handcrafted jewelry and hair accessories. And shouldn’t every shop-​o-​holic have access to local designers and fabulous frocks creatively made from re-​purposed fabrics at ridiculously low prices?
I really don’t think this is too much to ask. Do you?
Please help. These super cute vintage necklaces and gold bangles I bought are lonely all the way out here in Ohio. And, well, I think I’m addicted to Local Honey’s style.
I will also settle for cloning LH and transplanting it in Cleveland if that’s an easier discovery for you scientists out there. I’m flexible.

The very recent move from the Linden Avenue bungalow to the newly acquired space on Belmont (formerly Venus & Mars) will surely expose this gem of a boutique to even more fashionably conscious consumers. I attended the Grand Opening Cocktail Party on Saturday and fell in love with Local Honey all over again. Women and Men can both rejoice in this spiffy new home which also now houses the workspace and showroom of immensely talented designers Jamie and the Jones and Kevin Perryman’s T&P Men’s collection. Shea’s very own fashion forward White Rabbit collection can also be found amongst price-​savvy vintage treasures and handpicked second-​hand apparel. I ALWAYS find interesting handmade pieces from inspiring new Nashville designers each time I visit!
TIP: Great option for unique jewelry, accessories, and shoes too! The vintage booties and necklace that I purchased here receives compliments every time I flaunt them!
