Always a good venue for live music and a great selection of bakery goods. Not wild about a lot of the sandwich options, but then again that’s not what the place is about. The service is hit-and-miss — very friendly but it’s hard to flag someone down sometimes regardless of how busy it is. Having said that, it’s a great place to chill for an evening.

I wish I could say something different. As a local, I love our little restaurants, but this place has the worst service possible. I have been here so many times and every time I wonder why I come back. The food is not that good. The truth is that there aren’t many choices for breakfast in Nashville. I write this as I am currently on minute 50 waiting for biscuits and gravy! This is horrible and I just can’t stomach bringing any more friends here. Hoping that the service gets better just isn’t going to work. This is a management problem.

Vegetarian friendly eclectic café. Do not come here for fine dining or five star service. This is an eclectic café that seems to specialize in controlled chaos. There are not two chairs that match and all of the tables are different. It’s so close together you can barely walk through the place. This is an old house, not a purpose built restaurant. Every square inch is covered with art or antiques.(If you don’t like the sound of that, go elsewhere.) I was there with a large group including several vegetarians and everyone enjoyed the meal. I had Norb’s grilled cheese with onions and tomatoes and I added bacon. Great bread, lightly grilled and all of the toppings were tasty and worked well together. Vegetarians had Norb’s(no bacon), Muddy Bean Soup, and Dori(veggies and rice). Others had the Big Damn Sandwich and Chicken Salad. Every meal scored positive marks. The bathroom — it was clean, there was soap, and paper towels. It’s an old house, so it’s a one person unisex bathroom. The water heater is right there in the same room with visible electric and gas lines. Think eclectic café. Service was fine. They warned us it would take 30 minutes to get lunch because they seated a party of 10 just ahead of our party of 10. I don’t think it took that long. They were attentive with drink refills and clearing plates. Bonus — free wifi at a place like this was most unexpected.

Dirty kitchen and poorly managed. Big bones and gristle in the chicken salad. Used to eat there a lot(locals) but won’t set foot in it anymore except for coffee, tea, and fantastic desserts and cookies.

We were basically going to have one meal in Nashville, and this seemed like the place to go. I was a little weirded out because the place had maybe four parties in it, but I guess there’s not a huge brunch scene here; people are missing out on a beautiful outdoor seating area with about four tables. The service isn’t super quick, but it’s very friendly, and I suppose there was no rush. The chai is made with a powder mix, so I took a pass and just got a latte, which turned out to be very weak, but maybe I’m just too used to two shots, and it came in a big mug of milk. The tea came in a French press which was a nice touch, but my friend thought the water was too hot, leading to a bad flavor in the tea. I also tried a blueberry pancake; I loved that menu items were basically defaulted to a la carte, so I could get any number of pancakes or whatever with a mix of blueberries, bananas or neither. Two pancakes took about thirty minutes, so I don’t want to imagine how long something more complicated would take. The pancakes were plate-sized and tasty and whole-grainy, with lots of blueberries. They have lots of sides, lots of breakfast and lunch options, a bunch of drink options. The breakfast special was peaches and cream French toast. I also tried the lavendar lemonade to hydrate and because it seemed to be a specialty; I was very bummed that although there was actual lavendar, I’m pretty sure there were no actual lemons involved, it tasted like countrytime or some such with lavendar crumbled in. There’s a bunch of parking around for the town, although I’m sure it fills up throughout the day.

I was recommended to visit this place by the visitors center in Nashville, so you think it would be good, right? WRONGO! When we walked in all of the staff were sitting at the bar talking and looked at us like we were intruders. We sat down and after about 5 minutes were finally offered menus and water. Not to mention there was a giant hole in the seat of my chair. Our waitress looked like she hated her life, so that wasent very appealing. As we were looking through the menu there were mysterious individuals coming in and out of the back door? Strange. I ordered a signature lavender lemonade and an Asian pork wrap. They couldn’t find the sauce for the wrap(How do you lose a sauce?) so I had to order the chicken artichoke wrap. I went to the bathroom while I was waiting on my food and that was an adventure in itself. Don’t go in there. When I came out I had an audience waiting to use the restroom after me, I expected an applause. After that experience our waitress brought the lemonade. She now had the enticing aroma of alcohol on her breath, I think she took a break an bathed in pure alcohol. The lemonade was awful, I could barely drink it and my friend and I are convinced that it was spiked because we felt pretty weird after. The kitchen got our food out and it sat there for 10 minutes until our waitress finally brought it over. I ordered cottage cheese and it tasted like an old refrigerator. The wraps sauce was so spicy I couldn’t eat the wrap. Our waitress checked on us and I expressed that I wasent a fan, she said ‘ok’ and walked away. I will NEVER be back to this place again. Don’t go unless you want to waste your money and be drugged.

The wait was way too long for the type of food served. A hamburger, chicken wrap and mac n cheese took almost an hour after it was ordered. The wrap was very good. The burger was nothing special. Cute place with seating outside. It took too much time out of our day in Nashville.

Eclectic little place. It’s a coffee shop/café in kitschy Nashville. Plenty of local art hangs around, even a mermaid was swimming below the ceiling. The craftsmanship was good. We hoped the food would be on par. The salmon sammie was ok. The Dori, a veggie and wild rice dish was satisfying. Stop in for a break from the usual crafty shoppes in Nashville.

My boyfriend and I tried Muddy Boots for the first time a couple days ago for brunch. I had hot tea and biscuits and gravy. So good. The gravy was peppery; just the way I like it. My boyfriend got a chai latte and nachos. The latte was probably better than Starbucks! But his nachos were a little generic with just shredded cheese, beans, and salsa. We went back today and just had hot drinks. I tried the Dirty Chai Latte, which is a regular chai latte with a shot of espresso. It was very good. We will definitely make Muddy Boots a regular restaurant when we visit Nashville.

My food was an extreme disappointment. I had a sandwich Reverend ?? Big Damned Sandwich and it was terrible. This was a lamb and bacon sandwich with some sauce. The bacon was hard, the lamp cut very thin was even harder and I guess the sauce was OK. The folk singer was loud and I did not enjoy his songs or voice. Never again.

It’s unique, and the food is mercurial, leaning from just ok to pretty darn good for a small town café. Rarely is there anything to apologize for. They have live entertainment some evenings, often early. Prices are so-so and the soups are often pretty good. The upsides: something for every dietary delight, and sometimes vegan(usually a few non-orthodox vegetarian items). Comfy, and the feeling that you’re not eating strictly Sysco Food Services food is a delight. They may actually make a large majority of their own food, rather than buy it and re-heat it for you. This is usually a plus. The downsides: coffee is good, but if you buy it by the beans, you’ll need to put up with a cranky old coffee grinder that should be sold for its antique value and replaced by something that actually works. It has one setting, first gear, because the rest of its transmission is burnt out. Dudes: buy a new grinder. And the other downside is that the food can sometimes be Kroger Kwuality, but not often. The help is usually friendly. Muddy boots are fine.

Loved this place! My 8 year old son: «the pancakes are delicious!» My 5 year old daughter: «I like that they have games» — we got breakfast & the food was all amazing. Portions are small though. I ate two meals. But it was worth it. Coffee, espresso & chai were all tricked out too.

Try the rice-vegetable cheese dish. Excellent. Also chips and salsa. This is a great place with live mustic. Very funky and fun. We looked at all the spots before settling on this. It’s Santa Cruz meets the hills of Indiana. Great duet that night– a musician couple from Nashville, TN. And a bargain.

Muddy Boots is a gem in the village! The food is simple but delicious and well-prepared. There are many vegetarian options, too, from a hearty bean soup to a tasty grown-up grilled cheese with tomatoes and caramelized onions. Prices are fantastic — we had an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert for less than $ 30! Hard to beat in a touristy area like Nashville. On many nights, Muddy Boots has live music. We were lucky enough to be there on a night when a great local cover band played. The crowd was lively and talkative — we made many friends that night! Don’t skip out on the delicious desserts. They’re made from scratch in the kitchen upstairs. On the night we were there, dessert choices included cheesecake, peach crumble, and fresh raspberry tarts. We had a tart with vanilla ice cream — incredible!

I think for Nashville this is probably a great little hideaway. I loved the atmosphere, the live music, and the service but the food fell a little bit short for me. We came to Nashville on the 4th for a day of wandering and shopping. I was starving, so we stopped in here because it looked cute(really cool statue with license plates outside the restaurant). Granted, part of my aversion is that I am used to the culinary bliss of Bloomington. We ordered chips and salsa and got tostitos and cold salsa from a jar. Okay, not worth $ 3.99 but whatever. Then we split a spinach salad that had spinach, almonds, and«seasonal fruit» with a blueberry vinagarette. I suppose I was expecting more than 4 slices of green apple as the seasonal fruit and something along the lines of fancy almonds, not just a few slivers. The dressing was good. The best part of our meal, though, was the salmon burger. This was actually delicious and probably saved our meal. I think it was actually made in house, which I found surprising. It was big enough to split between two hungry people, too. For dessert, we split a large peanut butter cookie. I’m not a huge pb cookie fan, but appeased Dave. I would like to try their peanut butter or rhubarb pie, as both looked amazing. In the end, if I go back to Nashville I would give this place another try because it seemed the least touristy of some of the other places downtown, but I would hesitate to recommend it to someone else without going back first myself.

The lavender lemonade was amazing, however I went for breakfast and it fell short. Must not be much of a breakfast joint. However, I went around brunch hour and the folks getting the lunch entrees looked very pleased and the plates of food looked tons better than mine! I’ll be back for lunch to give it another try.

A Hippy Haven in downtown Nashville. They serve Lavender Lemonade here, so they’re not just hippys they’re hip. Organic menu, not your average hoosier fair, funky laid back vibe. Regular open mike & board game nights on the calendar. Antique soda fountain counter w/stools, and a hodgepodge of booths & tables fill the dining room. We had Valentines dinner here, and they went out of their way to make it special & sweet, but the best part was listening, ok eavesdropping on the large group of locals talking local gossip & politics, a very entertaining group of Artist, & Teacher left wingers.
