They are closed :0( Not sure if she relocated or not. I agree the owner wasn’t the most pleasant person, but it must have been hard selling books when you are competing with so many big box stores and the library.

UPDATE: On the way to Staples, I walked by the(former) location of Gracie’s Book Nook. Gone. It’s a medical office now. I wonder if Gracie’s relocated somewhere else, where they can ignore a whole new set of walk-in customers. Naw, I really don’t care.

To be fair I haven’t bought anything from there, so this is solely on the vibe I got just browsing around. I have wandered in there 2 or 3 times and those few times I was greeted with ugly, ‘you’re not supposed to be here’ sort of stares from elderly women that were just sitting in chair as soon as you walk in. It felt like I was bothering them. No one greeted me as I walked in, finally after a little while I was asked if I needed something. I would have loved to like this bookstore but each time I was let down.

I go every time I’m in town. Normally I find every book I want — last time — someone bought all the Martha Grimes books — I had to leave without a new story. Did pick up Royal Blue by David Baldacci though. So it’s not all bodice ripping paperbacks — take a look around! And for Mr. Rude to comment on anyones size — I bet he kicks dogs too.

A very well stocked used bookstore. You won’t find EVERYTHING you’re looking for, but the stock changes daily. They only carry novels, and paperbacks at that… so know that going it. Gracie knows her stock very well, and is very willing to help you find books. If romance novels are your thing, then THIS is definitely the bookstore for you. Gracie has read more novels then it seems is humanly possible. Be sure to bring in YOUR used books to potentially get credit for other books in her store.

Heavy on the romance novels, and filled to the brim with fantasy and science fiction, this is not a bookstore for everyone. Although Gracie’s doesn’t have the widest variety, that doesn’t matter if you’re a western or deep fantasy fan. The service can be as personal as you want it to be. If you talk to Gracie, she will talk to you. All the books are very organized, and I would go back if I needed to find a fluff book to read.

Childhood nostalgia for a certain book series had me frantically searching for used bookstores in my area. Since this was the closest place to me, I decided to head out here first. Oh boy did I have an adventure. I somehow read my directions wrong and went west instead of east on Sweetwater Road. XD After getting lost for 20 minutes, and finally realizing this bookstore was hidden in a very familiar shopping center strip, I made my way into the store, only to be greeted by about 6 elderly ladies. Maybe I looked a bit flustered from my trip, but they all stared at me as I entered, making me feel quite a bit uncomfortable. Finally, one lady broke the ice and told me they’d be happy to help me find a book and will gladly talk my ear off about it.(Her words, not mine!) I thanked them sincerely, and said I would be happy to hear about their opinions. They then asked me what my favorite author was(a question I never know how to answer), and I gave them my truthful response: I’ve been so busy with school that I haven’t really had the time to read«for fun» these days. The silence was so sudden. The lady replied back with an «Oh.» and they went on with their inclusive chatter. Needless to say, I felt quite self conscious. I began my tour of the store, noting the massive amount of «Romance» novels that seemed to be at least a decade old. I had recently read a novel by Marie Phillips called«Gods Behaving Badly» which was a parody of Olympian Gods, and I wanted something in the genere. I finally mustered up the courage to ask one of the ladies for help and she directed me to a corner of the store with categories such as Time Travel, and Faeries.(Note to Vampire Novel fans, there were TONS of novels there of that genre) Though the lady put in a genuine effort, I wound up going home empty handed. I’m not sure if I’d go back here to be honest. I felt kind of uncomfortable have that many eyes on me and their selection wasn’t the best in the world for what I was going for. For harlequin romance fans, however, it’s a gold mine. So if that’s your schtick, then you’ll have a blast!

It’s a used bookstore. It’s heavy on the romance novels. I end up talking to Gracie too long as my son or daughter or other son or other son or other son. no, he loves looking for books on end… fidgets. Every book in the world is not here. But half the cover price is the rate. When I hit the used book stores in the old days. The book price was based on the condition and to an extent the cover price. 10(where’s the cents key. Someone stole the Cents key offa my fancypants typewriter that shows nekkid lady pictures!) up to 6 bits(that’s 75(Alt+0162) to you whippersnappers). Five bucks had me reading for a month. I started frequenting used book stores for the odder than the library musty smell, and the cheap(I am cheap, Messicans see me and try to rub both elbows simultaneously) books. Now, twenty bucks has me reading for a few weeks. Gracie can be grouchy. Once you chip through that she’s a riot.
