The Competitive Athlete Training Zone helps people of all ages and abilities realize their athletic potential. With training programs customized to your needs, CATZ will make you a complete athlete — with the speed, power, agility, balance, coordination, and fitness required to perform at your highest level. You will not get a better workout than CATZ.

CATZ was founded in Pasadena, CA by the trainers/​strength and conditioning coaches of the Los Angeles Galaxy. We have trained elite athletes across a variety of sports including David Beckham, Claudio Reyna, Taylor Twellman, and Kristine Lilly in soccer, Misty May in beach volleyball, the US Men’s Volleyball team, Oscar de la Hoya in boxing… to name a few. CATZ athletes brought home 25 gold medals in the last two Summer Olympics.

Do not mistake CATZ for Crossfit because we provide smart training. We do not intimidate, we welcome. Training is not the end, but a means to an end. The end is athleticism and athletic performance.

History

Established in 1996.

CATZ was founded in Pasadena, CA by the trainers/​strength and conditioning coaches of the Los Angeles Galaxy. We have trained elite athletes across a variety of sports including Claudio Reyna, Taylor Twellman, and Kristine Lilly in soccer, Misty May in beach volleyball, the US Men’s Volleyball team, Oscar de la Hoya in boxing… to name a few. CATZ athletes brought home 15 gold medals and one silver medal from the Beijing Olympics and hope some of its 11 participants in the FIFA Women’s World Cup soccer tournament will win the World Cup.

Meet the Manager

Mark C.

Manager

Mark is the Performance Director of CATZ-​Needham facility. Mark began his career with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. In this position, Mark was responsible for all strength and conditioning as well as athletic training activities for this professional hockey club. Following his stint with the Falcons, Mark was hired by the Pittsburgh Pirates organization to work as the head strength coach for one of their minor league teams. He subsequently accepted a position as Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the San Diego Padres. In this role, Mark managed with stength and conditioning program for all six minor teams within the Padres organization.

Mark has extensive experience working with athletes at the professional and collegiate level. He has coached athletes in Major League Baseball, NBA, NHL, Major League Lacrosse, and the US Women’s Pro Tennis Tour.
