History

Established in 1977.

We are a family owned independent Business founded by Rob and Pumpkin Auerbach. Today, over 36 years later the business has passed hands to second generation owner and daughter Summer Auerbach. Rainbow Blossom now has 5 Louisville area locations.

Rainbow Blossom was named the 2012 Vitamin Retailer of the Year by Vitamin Retailer Magazine, and was honored as a «Local Hero» by Edible Louisville Magazine in 2012 and 2013

Business Owner

Summer Auerbach, Chief Operating Officer for Rainbow Blossom Natural Food Markets, literally «grew up» in the natural foods industry. Her parents, Rob and Pumpkin Auerbach, started the family business in 1977. In 2004, her father was diagnosed with cancer and she moved back to Louisville to take over the family business, which has grown to five locations under her leadership. Summer is currently serves as the board chair for the board of directors of the Louisville Independent Business Alliance. She is also on the board of the Independent Natural Food Retailers Association, St Francis High School and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Summer is passionate about supporting local and sustainable agriculture, environmental awareness, and the development of a vibrant local economy.

Summer has been named a «forty under 40» by Business First and «Most Admired Woman» by Today’s Woman Magazine.
