Lunch was delicious! I especially loved the freshly made potato chips! Everyone was super friendly and we had a great view of the boats on the river.

My wife and I were here for lunch. Everything we had was terrific. The Tuna Salad Sandwich was especially good. Just enough cherry peppers. There’s a nice view across the River. It was raining when we were there, but there are some tables out on the deck that I’d enjoy on a sunny day. The staff was friendly and professional. We will be repeat customers.

My friends love this place so I thought the boyfriend & I would give it a try. The girls that work there were beyond delightful and we had great service! My French toast with sausage was everything I needed. We will definitely be coming back and probably will ditch our old breakfast spot for this one!

Had the catch of the day with a salad and it was great! Really love the old photos and the view.

Really wanted to like this place, but the food just isn’t very good. The sweet potato fries are pretty tasty, but in general the menu serves up basic cafeteria food. It doesn’t seem to be prepared with any joy or care. Sandwiches are hunks of bread or roll slapped on either side of the requisite fillings without any finesse or extra flavor.

Went with 3 friends a few weeks ago. The staff was really friendly. They were a bit short-handed so the owners were waiting tables. They seemed a bit overwhelmed by it but it was charming. Great location and excellent food. Not fussy at all. Great option for brunch in New Haven when you’re not in the mood to wait in line at the Pantry or the like.

The only reason I’m hesitant on giving this 4 stars is because I don’t want it to become too popular and have a wait time on weekends. Love being able to walk in here on Saturday and know there will be an open table, but not empty where we feel like were eating alone and being watched by waitstaff. Friendly folks, great ambience and natural lighting. outdoor seating in summer is great. Food is better than your average diner and reasonably priced. coffee is great. but menu is limited. The specials are nice but pricey and not always available. We go almost every weekend.

I ~re found~ this wonderfully, albeit, small café a few months ago. Weather permitting I am there with two children, aged 6&9 for a weekend breakfast. I have also been there for lunch with a friend and recommenced it to several people, who stated they have also been pleased with the café. It is family friendly and I can not wait until spring so we can sit on the deck. The staff is helpful and pleasant. The coffee is served in an extra large cup as it was in the old Jenelle’s and it is still great coffee. I am not over enthusiastic about ~fried ~ eggs but the kids love them and I have gotten used to them. The sopping in butter eggs are my fav but certainly not good for my health. All in all a pleasant experience on all levels. I’ve read the comments on the menu with I think is just fine for a small café. I loved the original Jenelle’s and used to frequent that as well however… eventually the menu changed to a more ~upscale~ menu which turned a lot of people to pass on for a quiet, friendly breakfast or lunch. The place is too small and the location not suitable to attract X and Y gen consistently to make money. The prices went up and the menu offering not suitable for us. I was sorry she failed but am glad to have re found as Anastasio’s Boathouse Café. This IS as good as it gets for a small neighborhood café. PS: The girls and I love the Kitty but she can not come in… health regs, you know, not to mention allergies and people who are not cat people!!!

I might give it 3 stars if it wasnt in my neighborhood so I’m a bit biased. I liked Janelles, I liked the original Boathouse Café and so far Anastasios is doing well too. The sunny morning/east facing location is nice all year and the food has always been better than an average diner.

This Anastasio is the same Anastasio that operates the restaurant on Wooster Street and the restaurant in East Haven. This location is a very scaled down restaurant, open only for breakfast and lunch, 7AM — 3PM. I’ve been here only once(for brunch) and unfortunately nothing overly impressed me. The inside layout is the same as it was for Jenelle’s. It overlooks a small marina on the Quinnipiac River. The outside deck is used in the summer months. Both the menu and daily specials seemed very basic to me. I’d have to say that Jenelles’ menu and daily specials were more creative and attractive. In my opinion, I think Anastasio’s menu needs to offer something a little different to attract people to this little-known location. I’m afraid they’re not going to survive by just offering«me too» items that every other breakfast/lunch place in town offers. Like I said, it’s just my opinion. On the upside, the three people running the place seemed really nice and friendly. Lastly, for god’s sake, will somebody have a heart please let in the kitty cat waiting outside? He’s clearly freezing his butt off in the cold winter weather. Poor kitty :-(
